Owned by JoAnn of Arc and JoAnn Wilder. Barbie is a big fan of JoAnn Fabrics, because she's into this sort of, you know... boring Grandma stuff. They have a big selection of fabrics, yarns, crafts and supplies, but their prices are expensive. Luckily Barbie has their app and so she gets coupons and discounts and what not. But Bae wishes their hours were longer, even though they're more expensive than Michael's, she thinks they have a wider selection and would rather come here, but Michael's is usually open later. My thoughts were that this is a nice little arts and crafts store at Baybrook that is a corporate chain of course, but Barbie appreciates it especially as she is a fan of Michael's as well and this presents a nice alternative, a better one she says, with some different products and brands and more variety, but it's similarly mid-price and definitely not cheap at all. She appreciated being here, and often uses it when we're down this way. Staff is pretty friendly too. read more

I've been shopping at this location a long time and have spent a LOT of money there. This month I bought 6 yards of fabric. It stayed folded until I pulled it out to cut my squares for a quilt I was going to make. After about the 5th square I noticed a black mark that bled through the fabric. I unfolded the rest and found that there were numerous black marks on the fabric and I couldn't use it. I took it back with my receipt to get a refund but they wouldn't give me one. I was so angry I left the material on the floor and stormed out. They should have at LEAST given me store credit. NOPE. They sell sht material and don't care how damaged it is and will not give you a refund. read more

I've been shopping at this Joann's for about 7-8 years. Although it's nothing really to write home about that's really not the employees fault. That's the corporation issue. I've always had a pleasant experience with all of the employees at this location every single time. They are as sweet as can be. It takes 2 to have a pleasant encounter. read more

They are charge a 25 dollar "restocking" fee on any returned unopened sewing machine when all they have to do is walk it back to the aisle and put it back on the shelf. An absolute joke. I didn't think any big companies did things like that and if you open the box forget it, you'll have to deal with the manufacturer. This was my first and last purchase from this company. read more

I would say unless you're actually using fabrics the other crafts aren't as good. It was my first time going to just look around and it was a bit disappointing. They had some cute stuff for affordable prices! But also once getting to checkout the lady was singing and when she would ask a question and you begin to answer she would cut you off and start talking to her other employees. I stopped in after Halloween to see what I could find to make last minute details to go with some Renaissance festival costumes I put together. Honestly, I forgot this store was here. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of jewelry and clearance jewelry they had. There were a lot of finished pieces and pendants/strung beads that would be easy to add an earring or key chain to complete any costume with some sparkle and movement. And tbh I found a few chain necklaces I'll be adding to my daily rotation. Besides fabric, they also have a wide variety of trim and ribbon by the yard. More than the other fabric stores in the area by far. However I did not compare prices or anything there. read more

I went in for sewing needles. I had to pay at the sewing machine area. That's just plain stupid. Also I cut across the cutting area to get to the thread. There was no one there, and they called me out. I mean not nice either. You can't go through there! I said I just needed to get through to the thread. You have to go around! It appears that my requested piece of striped cotton blend was chewed through by a beaver - with no stripe alignment! I'll leave the "beaver cutter's name" unknown- just be aware unless a professional staff is implemented. Speaking to a customer in a demeaning manner is uncalled for. I placed an online order. My son was in hospital very unexpectedly and went sent in this area by ambulance with me along for the ride. I had no time to bring any yarn or something to do. My ex husband came up the next day and said if I placed a order he would run me by there as it's only a mile away. So I placed the order and called and asked if they could please rush my order through as he was only in town for a little time and needed to get back to Beaumont. The lady tells me it takes an hour before they get the order. That's lie one as I order from Joanns in Beaumont and when I lived in Vegas and they get the order in 10-15 minutes. Then she says that they will do all orders in the way they came in because it is company policy not to jump ahead. I told her that my ride could only stay for so long and would love if she could just this time accommodate me. She flat out refused. I had a small order. Crochet hooks, a needle and 4 different colors of yarn. I asked for manager and she said she was. She had no compassion for the predicament I was in. Rushing my autistic son to the er and not being able to leave him alone for long time. My ex missed his appointment just to stay a hour and half to wait for them to fill my order. I have never had such treatment from any other Joanns. They have always been nice and very understanding till this young "manager". Such a shame!!! read more

I don't know what all the bad reviews are all about, I love this store. Beautiful fabrics, yarn, beads (often 50%off!). It's always clean. They offer 40% off coupons that are available on my phone. The folks who work there are always very kind and extremely helpful. Maybe if you go with a positive attitude and be nice to the help they will be nice back. Hmmm, ya think? The manager is horrible. Needs to be replaced. This location has low supplies and seems to be out of most of the things I want to buy. The manager needs to learn how to stock the store. This is always my go to store for craft project. I normally get a ticket for fabric cutting before I go & get my fabric. So I don't have to wait in line for fabric cutting. I love to chat about my project with ladies. While I am standing line to pay, I pull up coupons on my phone & save 40-50%. Staff are always sweet & helpful. read more

Jo-Ann Fabrics has some really good selections on craft items, ribbon, fabric, even baby shower items that only a few places carry. Their prices are good and they have great coupons on their website. I have been coming to this Joann's for well over a year now. Every time that I come here all employees have been helpful. I've never had a problem with anyone being rude nor crabby. The ladies at the cutting table are helpful and have no problem explaining questions that I concerning different types of fabric. The cashiers are just as helpful during checkout. If I don't have a coupon, they always seem to have an extra one so I can receive the discount. read more

i am not a crafter. i don't sew...i don't really scrapbook often...and i'm definitely not a knitter. that being said, i usually only come to this JoAnn's for costume supplies or framing. But the last few times i've been there it has been a nightmare. The lady who works the framing center is on a perpetual smoke break. i swear...i've gone in there 3 times to get things framed, only to have a worker tell me that the framer is on break or at lunch (at 4pm?). this is not rocket science people, get another person to cover framing! or encourage an anti-smoking campaign... The last time I came in was different though. I walked up to framing and the framer lady was seemingly chatting it up with a personal friend of hers. When she turned and snarled, "Can i HELP YOU?", i said, "yes, i'd like to get this framed". she said "Well i'll get to you after i'm done helping this lady." aka "when i'm done getting paid to have a personal conversation with a friend." So i just stood there and waited (eavesdropped) until it was uncomfortable enough for them to stop talking. the checkout line is always a nightmare. last time i was there, the woman working the register had to get a calculator out to calculate 50% of 19.99. UGH. I enjoy hancock fabrics more, in terms of service...but they don't have the same selection. JoAnn really has anything you could need for a weekend crafting project, just make sure you take a few xanax and budget at least 2 hours before you go there. read more

There are /way/ better Jo-Ann Fabrics than this one, that's for sure. The store is absolutely huge. Now... I am a sewer, I am a quilter. I am pretty darn picky about the fabrics I buy. When you're a guy and you do these things, you tend to turn heads. Add a collar around your neck and it makes the situation even more uncomfortable. Start throwing lingo around and that makes the situation worse because they, for some reason, seem to feel threatened. From the moment I stepped into that store with my partner, it was uncomfortable. Between the blend of customers and the staff there, I was more than happy to (eventually) leave. Staffing seems to be an issue and I'd agree that the checkout was a monster. The cutting station seemed understaffed since a 10 number gap was common. One person was cutting remnants while two were cutting for customers. Maybe it's just me, but maybe the remnants can wait when you have a crowd hovering around the cutting station all with rather grouchy faces. The only happy staff I saw were the two rovers wondering the store. Okay, with all that said... Yes, the store was clean. Yes, the store was actually surprisingly (and pleasantly) organized. Two major thumbs up on those things. It was very well lit (big bonus for fabric looking). Though I didn't look at the section beyond a sideways glance, there seemed to be a decent amount of patterns for the tailors/seamstresses out there. Their thread selection was a bit... poorly organized. The displays were too high, I feel. Everything should be at most eye-level. I hover around 5'10" and even I was looking up sometimes. Being spoiled by quilt shops (or 'real' fabric shops) has its ups and downs. Walking into this Jo-Ann Fabrics really forces you to lower your standards during the duration of the stay. Other Jo-Ann Fabrics I've visited, the lowering isn't nearly as drastic. This was simply catastrophic. read more

The other ladies are not too friendly, but she goes out of her way to tell you about a good deal or how to save money. What is her name???? I went here last week with my Moms and bought material for a skirt and top. I was pretty clueless about what to do (interfacing, etc. ...now I know) and the lady who cut my bolts was friendly and helpful and helped me pick out an interface for my top. I thought they had a good variety of materials especially compared to the Lubbock branch. I found everything I was looking for pretty quickly (but yes we spent 2 hours inside looking at things). Lots of pattern books to peruse and they had almost every pattern I was looking for. read more

This Rating is actually higher than wanted to Give but there is nothing lower! In Oct 2018 we purchased a Sewing Machine from Husqvarna Viking from the sewing center inside JoAnns Fabrics. It was a Saphire 965 and paid $1700.00 for it. 2 weeks later my wife wanted to upgrade to an Embroidery machine and paid $200.00 more and was told the Embroidery arm was not with the machine but should be here in 2 days. She waited 4 Days and we received nothing from the sales manager soshe called her and was informed the arm was on back order. It was supposed to arrive a week later, and still nothing. After a month we called the Mfg Home Office in Tenn, and the Lady Sari said she would find out why we had received nothing and would email my wife back. A week has gone by and we heard nothing. Wife called her again and she says now it will be middle of the month and THATS no guarantee it will arrive at the Factory. We are taking the worthless machine back and getting our money back!... Buyer BEWARE! This IS NOT A COMPANY TO DO BUSINESS WITH!...Don't trust ANYTHING they tell you!...At the time we bought the First Machine we purchased a set of Special Sissors, and THEY NEVER CAME IN, and have heard NOTHING about them!.... read more

Just over three weeks ago, I went to Joann's to get some fabric to reupholster six dining room table chairs. Last summer, I bought a table second hand that needed new upholstery because the current fabric was ugly. So, I saw this one fabric three weeks ago that I also saw several months ago, and I was tired of looking for fabric. So, I bought it. Becky was the lady who cut the fabric for me, and she was very helpful with tips and also very nice, and she gets FIVE STARS! The long line with only two cashiers gets TWO STARS. Come on Joann, you can do better than that! I'm not into arts and crafts, but I managed to get those chairs covered with a friend's help, and they look great. Thank you Becky for your help and tips! Again, you get FIVE STARS, but the needless wait in line with two cashiers gets TWO STARS. I gave Joann's four stars overall because of Becky! read more

Sewing Department I received a sewing machine for christmas that was defective and the ladies that work there ,Aubrey and Laura, did not want to exchange the sewing machine for a new one. After being told that new sewing machines were already ordered and that my name would be on a new one I was denied the exchange. I had made several projects without a problem until it started messing up. So of course when we went to the store to demonstrate, nothing happened. Both Aubrey and Laura went back on their word TWICE and then proceeded to laugh when we asked them to put in writing the last thing they had said. They also said that we had to use "the good kind" of thread because apparently that is the only way the machine will work. I am a college student and do not have the money to be buying the "good kind" of thread for every project. read more

This happened during Covid-19. There was no sign on the doors stating that they were not accepting returns. The girl at the door never said anything to the people waiting in line- she was hiding behind the doors, only opening them to let someone in as someone left. After waiting almost 1.5 hours, the girl at the return desk told me they were not accepting returns and did I want to talk to a manager. The manager said I needed to call the store repeatedly to find out when they would be accepting returns. When I first asked, she lifted both her hands up and made a noise with her mouth, as if saying she had no idea. I have been calling the store during business hours and nobody ever answers the phone. Also, the manager claimed she was not allowed to post on the door that they were not accepting returns and claimed that her employee at the door was telling the people in line that they were not accepting returns. How would she know, she was hiding in the back of the store, out of sight of employees and the public- until I asked to speak to her about when I could return the items I bought at her store. read more

HORRIBLE customer service. I was checking out and had asked the lady if I could have a couple leaves I had found on the ground she said yes of course. I had forgotten something so I had to run back and when came back she was with another customer so I was waiting and the other cashier said I could go over there to her and I said no I am waiting for this cashier she has my stuff. She said she could get my stuff. So she checked me out and I told her the other lady said I could have the two leaves and she told me NO YOU CANT AND SHE THREW THEM IN THR TRASH CAN IN FRONT OF MY FACE!!!!! She said no we have to throw them away. Like what the fuck ? I actually COULD USE them for a project I was doing. So I asked to talk to a manger and she apparently "called " one and then said "she said you can't have them" and I was standing there in disbelief like WHAT A FUCKING WASTE LF RESOURCES???
