I have never been to an esthetician before, and Viktoria came highly recommended. I wasn't sure what to expect, but when I arrived, I was amazed by the lovely studio, which immediately provided such a calm and inviting atmosphere. Viktoria immediately put me at ease, answering my questions and discussing the process in a very compassionate way. She has an extensive knowledge about skin and skincare, and comes from a preventative perspective to help people have healthy skin. As for the procedure itself, Viktoria explained each step and it's benefits, as she applied cleanser, toner, moisturizer, steam, a face mask, extraction, warm towels, and a face massage in a very gentle and nurturing way. Already feeling blissful, she then applied red and blue light, and through my closed eyelids and goggles I saw what looking like a red-orange sunset, which became a bright white light like being at the beach. It was beautiful, and stimulated my imagination. It then turned a purple-blue hue before the lights came back on and Viktoria made sure I was comfortable. I was the most relaxed I'd been in quite a while. My skin looked so good, I looked like a different person! Viktoria's work speaks for itself--wow! Viktoria walked me through how to use some sample products, but I decided to give it a go with a month of products to keep up my skincare, and she showed me how to use those as well. I met Viktoria at a party and my skin was breaking out in red dry patches. I also felt like my skin, which looked very youthful into my late 50's was starting to age quickly, yikes! That had me very depressed and anxious. My skin is very sensitive too, so any product that is not natural won't work for me. Viktoria and I bonded on our love of animals. She is a delightful person and when I found out that she is an esthetician, I confessed my worries about my skin. She diagnosed rosacea on the spot and told me she had some products that were designed for rosacea. I live in Marin so a trip to Alameda is not super convenient, but I had such a good feeling about Viktoria that I decided to piggy back a trip to her salon onto another meeting I had in the East Bay. My appointment was 3 weeks ago, it was a very relaxing experience. I'm so glad that I followed my instinct! My skin looks and feels so good that when I wake up, i don't even want to wash my face. And I feel so happy to see my skin looking so good! The redness is mostly gone. Of course, what I eat can trigger my rosacea, I also have psoriasis behind my ears, but that has calmed down too with the Pevonia products specially formulated for rosacea. After my relaxing facial, she recommended the travel size kit of the rosacea products to see if my skin responded positively. Viktoria showed me how to use the cleanser by putting it in the palm of my hand and adding a little bit of water, applying it to my face, and washing it off, then the toner and moisturizer get mixed up and applied. It's actually a fun quick routine that I look forward to. I have never needed skin products in the past beyond moisturizer but I really needed something to rescue my skin and I feel very fortunate to have found Viktoria and also to have listened to my intuition to make a trip to her salon happen. As soon as I walked in the door I felt welcomed by Cesar. (Full disclosure: I previously met Cesar and Victoria at a holiday party my dad hosted; however, I think they are both naturally very friendly and welcoming people.) The facility feels both homey and luxurious, as if you've come over to their house to be pampered. Cesar was professional and friendly. He did a quick consultation before starting the massage, asking if I had any "trouble areas" and what kind of pressure I liked, then checked-in with me a few minutes in to the massage to see if the pressure was good. I really appreciate when the therapist communicates with me, without trying to carry on a conversation (not relaxing!). The massage table was heated--which I loved! The room dimly lit, the usual relaxing meditation music was softly playing. He uses a kind of massage gel (I think...) that is moisturizing without leaving you greasy. I can't begin to tell you how happy I am to have found Cesar!! I am a traveling RN who has had massages all over the country and he is truly one of the best I have had. I tend to get lower back/sciatica spasms on the table and have never had a masseuse stop the massage to teach me stretching exercises to alleviate the pain. I recently went while visiting my sister and left wishing I lived somewhere closer so I could come back. I got a massage by Cesar and it was easily one of the best I can remember ever getting. I've got an allergy to an essential oil and Cesar was very sensitive and careful about keeping it out of the room. The massage was excellent- between the lavender mist, warm sheets and massage I really never wanted to leave that table. I also got the light treatment from Victoria and it was fantastic. I live in a very cold climate where we're lacking in heat and light but have plenty of wind and snow so having a bright light shined on me while under warm sheets with warm booties on my feet was amazing. Victoria was really helpful with some dry skin problems I've been having and explaining the benefits of the treatment. The actual treatment was comforting and relaxing and afterwards I really felt like it was beneficial to my skin and my state of mind. Victoria and Cesar manage to be professional and offer exemplary service while at the same time being kind and friendly. Have you ever wanted to be transported to heaven where all your worries and stresses melt away. That happened in my 90 minute massage by Cesar at SkinGlow. I just finished a very serious 3 day hike over the weekend and planned to have this massage as part of my recovery. The 90 minute massage was incredible. The space is very soothing, relaxing, clean, and nicely decorated. The room has a strong fragrance of essential oils but was perfect to put me in the mood to relax. If your sensitive to smells just let them know they will adjust everything to suit your needs or allergies. I like deep tissue massage but informed my therapist to take it easy on my calves and quads. He checked in often without being to intrusive and the pressure was exactly what my body needed. Throughout the massage he would occasionally spray a mist that had lavender or eucalyptus oil. This was very nice and added tremendously to the experience. I did not want this massage to end and I highly recommend SkinGlow. Side note my girlfriend also got her eyebrows shaped here and being the butch lesbian I am I really don't pay attention to these details. Sorry babe. This is the best place in Alameda to get a facial. Viktoria is amazing and has made me a regular here. Where do I begin. First, the location is great and easy to get to. Two, the building has the feel of a day spa. Now to the services. I've had massages all over the world and Cesar has the most magical hands that I've ever felt. I prefer deep tissue massages and he applies the right amount of pressure and will check in intermittently to ensure its not too much. You know a massage is great when you fall asleep and wake up with drool all over your mouth. Now for Viktoria. I had the LED light session and I immediately noticed the reduction in lines around my eyes. My sister who was visiting from Louisiana had a facial and she ranted and raved about how great her skin felt after wards. In fact, I'm now having to ship Pevonia products every 3-4 months.
