When my daughter turned 3 years old, I figured that it's time to start taking her to a dentist. I came upon Dr. Martinez's yelp page and read a lot of good reviews about her. Since it's close by my house and they took our insurance, I have decided to give them a try. When I called them to make an appointment, the receptionist was very friendly and she helped us make an appointment. And since it was my first time, she gave me clear directions where they were located so I would get lost. On the day of our appointment, my daughter didn't feel comfortable because it's an unfamiliar environment. Once she sat down on the chair she began to cry, but Dr. Martinez and her assistant were calm and patient. They introduced all the tools to my daughter and let her know what they were going to use them for. Even though it wasn't a successful cleaning, they still gave her a reward prize for being a good trooper. I liked how even though they couldn't really do a full cleaning on my daughter's teeth, they don't force it on the child. They let us to just come back next time and they'll try again. After the first visit a year ago, my daughter has gained more confidence and now she is excited to go and feels very comfortable letting Dr. Martinez clean her teeth. read more

My two daughters have been going to Dr Suarez Martinez for years and they love her. The staff is very friendly and the facility is very clean and kid friendly. The office even has video games and televisions for the kids to watch while they get their teeth cleaned. My children were comfortable the entire time they were there. I wouldn't recommend trying to become a new patient here unless you are prepared to potentially waste your time in the process. First, I tried calling the office multiple times to schedule an appointment and no one ever answered. Then I used their "request an appointment" feature from their website. Someone got back to me within a couple of days with an appointment time via text message. That was on Monday, 7/17. I quickly said I could make that appointment. It took them until Friday, 7/21 to confirm the appointment and ask about insurance. I told them at that time that we had Delta Dental and asked what specific details they needed to verify our insurance. Monday, 7/24 they told me what they needed and I sent the information. I didn't hear from them again until Friday, 7/28 to tell me that they are out of network for Delta Dental - a full week after I told them that was our insurance. I would have to pay cash and get reimbursed later. This place effectively wasted TWO WEEKS of my time when I could have booked with a different dentist to ensure that I could actually get my kids in before they go back to school. I really do wish we could have made it work here, but I figured other people considering this place should be aware of these possible issues. They did apologize in the end, but that doesn't change the multiple delays I encountered throughout. read more

I can not recommend Dr. Martinez's office enough! She has helped my boys get over their fear of the dentist and is always so kind and sweet with my boys. They look forward to going now. Her front desk receptionist, Roberta, is so sweet and always gets back to me so quickly and will always fit me in when needed. My boys also love the game room while we wait to be taken back and love the treasure chest after they are done! Beware! If you are going in for a consult, you will be charged $78--even if you bring x-rays that were taken elsewhere! I went to a different dentist to get an opinion about my son's teeth. They took an x-ray and gave their opinion. (BTW, they did not charge a consultation fee.) In the interest of getting a second opinion, I went to Joanne Suarez Martinez. I called ahead and asked for the price of the consult, and she said it all depends. When I got there, they said it would be $78 if an x-ray was needed. I explained that we had just left another dentists office, and that an x-ray had just been taken of his mouth an hour ago, so they called and had the image e-mailed over. She looked it over, glanced in his mouth, GAVE NO EXAM and just said, "I agree with what the other dentist recommended." And for that, they charged me $78!!! So, that would be why they won't quote consult fees over the phone. Super shady. I would never recommend this office to anyone. read more

I had one scared little boy who had a really bad experience at our previous dentist. My son is high functioning autistic. He was petrified of going to another dentist after his last experience. We managed to get him to see Dr Martinez as he needed a couple of teeth removing. She made him feel very comfortable, everything was relaxed, she waited for HIM to be ready to proceed with the procedure. She successfully removed his first tooth. We went back a second time and he was just still to scared and he sadly couldn't go through with it this time. I took him back today to try once more and he did amazing. She told me my 4 year old needed six fillings and needed to be put under for the procedures. Being suspicious, I asked my own dentist who said at most 1, but recommended leaving her teeth alone. I took her to a family dentist who said to do nothing. Why would any dentist put a child through a procedure unnecessarily, especially when anesthesia is involved? This is shameful. read more

Dr. Suarez-Martinez is great! I have taken my daughter here twice and have gotten great customer service from her and the front desk. Since my daughter is very apprehensive, Dr. Suarez-Martinez made sure to make her feel comfortable and relaxed by talking to her and explaining everything to her when she has a question. The office area is good as the wall painting creates wonder, the waiting area has books to read, and there is a game room for the kids to also enjoy. I will definitely continue to come here. Doctor Martinez is nice and friendly enough but the front desk people are actively seeking opportunities to rip you off. So, if you decide to go to this office, please double and triple check your insurance policies and make sure you understand the ramification. Start with something small before signing up for anything major. They always pre-charge and sweet talk you into the impression that insurance will cover most the amount they estimated. It was my mistake to fall in that trap. I brought my son there for a simple teeth clean and they charged $244 while insurance only paid $106. Instead of notifying me about the $137 bill they are going to send as "patient responsibility", they rushed us into the "next step" - 2 dental fillings for my son. This time they charged $537 while my plan only paid $138, so a $429 deficit here. After all the damage, they finally found the time to notify me that I was responsible for $566 ($137+$429). As you may guess, all the sweet talks were gone this time around. Our inquiry and arguments were met with mere indifference to say the best. The answers were all along the line of "go figure out with your insurance... we don't really care ... we just charged you with what we wanted...". When I look back now, they knew that was a one time deal and earning returning customers was not an interest that they pursue. So, once again, in case you do decide to go to this office, be careful and start with something small. Do NOT let them rush you into anything. Had we known the $137 teeth clean, we would have stopped going. Unfortunately they succeeded in delaying the bill and rushing us into the eventual $566 damage. Hope our lessons learned from this office could be of some help to others. read more
