The paint they used had ribbed off a few times and had been retouched up by them coming back out . The last time I emailed him and send pictures of paint coming off he responded "have my husband sand it and repaint ." I normally do not do this but please do yourself a favor & do not use Joaquin Painting, Inc. ! We hired them to restain & seal our concrete & it looks worse than it did before. His own words to me were "well I'm trying to figure out what happened" when looking at it. My first interaction with him after telling him my kids slip and it's not safe was "well I slip on mine too" and that's a product you stand by? For someone who claims to take pride in his company, if a customer is not happy, fix it. We did not expect it too look perfect, but it looks worse than before. We take pride in our backyard & work hard for the things we have. It wasn't just a few hundred dollars, it was thousands. When I mentioned how slippery it was he said "well maybe the expectations were not clearly communicated" He told Travis he doesn't expect what our expectations were based on the condition of the concrete. Don't you think a PROFESSIONAL would say, I wouldn't reccomend this if it's not achievable? The owner came to our house two times, the last time he told me he was going to call the people who make the product but that "he was smarter" so he wasn't sure how much good that would do. He told me he would call Travis and he never did. Travis had to reach out to him, after he already knew how unhappy we were. So very unprofessional. It's hard to find contractors that you can trust to stand by their work, don't ask for monies up front, and deliver the finish product you expect. And it's a great thing to support local family businesses doing it right as well! This is a response to Colin's posted today. "The "Deal Saver" coupon we ran was from the Modesto Bee and had restrictions on use associated with the purchase. " I still have the Deal Saver coupon here, restrictions say "Certificate Valid from Aug 19, 2011, through Nov. 30, 2011, for any complete exterior paint job. One certificate per dwelling or building No cash value Not valid with any other discount or promotion No refunds. All sales final." When I called Joaquin Painting the first time to get the quote the receptionist said where did you hear about us? I specifically said I bought the coupon from Deal Saver and wanted someone to come out and give me a quote. Stephen came out and gave me a quote and not once did he mention he was giving me a deal or discount. When I called to book the job, your company would not honor it because you didn't mark it up enough. DISHONEST. "Joaquin Painting believes we did everything in our power to resolve the situation of confusion associated with this customers complaint including refunding the customers purchase.' 100 percent FALSE. I have spoken 4 times total when speaking to someone at Joaquin Painting. 1. to make the appointment for the bid. 2. when Stephen came out to give the bid. 3. when Stephen called telling me he had emailed me the bid. 4. when I called to book the job. When I called to book it, the receptionist said "oh, hold on" in a distressed tone and transferred the call to Stephen. That's when I got the "Oh, I didn't know you had the Deal Saver coupon and I was giving you a really great deal" line. He said he wouldn't be able to do the job at the price he quoted, and he knew it sounded shady, but he would have to add an additional 800 dollars to the quote I was originally given in order for the job to be done with the Deal Saver coupon. I said that was completely unacceptable and felt like I was being scammed and that I would have to try and get my money back. He said there was nothing he could do about that. That was the last I heard from Joaquin Painting on this issue. I then contacted Deal Saver's corporate offices and didn't hear anything back from them. I ended up having to email Call3 at KCRA and they took care of it getting in touch with someone from Deal Saver locally where they promptly refunded my money. When I spoke with the lady at Deal Saver, she specifically said she told the people at Joaquin Painting this had to be a deal, couldn't be marked up, etc and that she was very distressed to hear a merchant would do something like this. Their coupon clearly states NO REFUNDS, yet I got one because of Joaquin Painting's shady business practices. "The "Deal Saver" program was very successful and we had many happy customers who purchased and used their coupons. In response to other painting companies having lower prices: " The bitter taste of poor quality remains longer than the sweet taste of a low price". I'm sure if all of the customers who purchased the Deal Saver from your company had you come out and bid before, then got a marked up quote after the fact, they wouldn't be happy. The companies that came in with lower bids have been in business for over 20 years as well, and offered more services than your company did yet were 450.00 less than your original bid, or 1250.00 less than your marked up one, not including the 200.00 I spent. Last week Joaquin Painting painted the interior of our home. We could not be more pleased. They gave us a very fair price and performed excellent work. The painters were hard-working, talented guys who were very considerate and nice to have in my home, and they did a fabulous job with cleanup. The owner, Mark, contacted me as soon as the painters finished their work to ask me how it turned out. He asked me when it would be convenient for them come over to do touchups and sent three painters over at my convenience to make sure everything was perfect. I recently had surgery and actually forgot that they were supposed to start painting on Monday and did not have my house ready when they arrived. They said, no worries, we will come back tomorrow. Mark was very sweet and accommodating and still managed to get the job done by Friday by sending over extra painters during the week. It was awesome having our house put together by Friday afternoon. Joaquin Painting repainted our barn approximately eight years ago. We were very happy with the quality of work and the care they took with our property. Last year, we called them out again to repaint the barn, as we are hosting a wedding and wanted everything to look nice. About a month after the completion of the painting, we noticed the new paint bubbling on the back side of the barn. Joaquin Painting came back out to inspect, and claimed it was from the original paint job on the barn in the late 1970's. They claim the original paint was lifting, and therefore would not warranty their work. It is funny that the old original paint has never bubbled before now. They power washed off the barn in case there was any old and lifting paint before they repainted so this would not happen. We are very disappointed, after spending thousands of dollars to have the barn repainted, we will have to have the back done again...by someone else. I remodeled my kitchen & hired Joaquin Painting to paint the kitchen cabinets, BIG MISTAKE! The paint did not adhere to the cabinets where there is a routered groove on the doors & also where they placed silcone bumpers on drawers & doors. Cabinets were painted white and dark green is showing through where the paint is not adhering. I stopped in & provided images well within the warranted time & stated I wished to wait longer to see what else may appear. There was hardly any use of the cabinets as we were not living there at the time. I stopped in the office to schedule an appt.with Randy to look at the cabinets, Mark was there and was very argumentative with me until potential customers came in. The 1st appt was rescheduled as Randy wasn't available. I took time off from work the afternoon of the 2nd appt. and it was a no show, no call. Next day I called spoke to the girl in the office she didn't understand why he didn't show but she would speak with him. No call, however the following day I received a call during work that someone (not Randy) was almost to my address for the appt. (which was never rescheduled). I stated I could not leave work AGAIN. Horrible customer service and VERY pricey compared to competitors. I got 5 bids and Joaquin Painting was the highest bid. Worked with Mark Butler nice enough guy, but wow their bid was way out in left field. When I asked Mark what were they using to paint the house, GOLD?. He laughed said, no we only use top grade paint and provide excellent customer service compared to others. We take pride in our workmanship. Quotes I received ranged from $5700 which was Joaquin quote to $2000. Unbelievable differences, so I went with mid range and the company I chose over Joaquin did an awesome job. When I got the exterior house painting quote I also asked for Mark to give me a quote for refreshing up my Back Stamped patio. He quoted me $1290 so I decided I would give them the job. Huge mistake on my part. The job looked fair. But the worst thing was they got the chemicals in my pool. It was horrible my pool was a mess. I called Mark and asked what did you do how did you get the chemicals in my pool? His reply was sometimes this happens when they apply the finish but don't worry it should clear pretty quickly just run the pool pump for 24 hrs. Well I did just that in fact I ran it for 3 days 24hrs straight. The pool looked no different. I called Mark back and asked, what are you going to do to clear this mess out of my pool? He promised he would have his workers out the following day to clear the pool out. Well, they never showed up no surprise. I called and never heard back from Mark. So I ended up netting the pool out myself for over 3 hours to clear out the chemicals. I ended up emailing Mark and advised that since I didn't hear back and his men never came to rectify the situation that my Bill Rate was $45.00 per hour X 3 hours that I would be deducting that from their invoice and would only be paying them $1155. Finally received a reply to my email with Mark apologizing that his workers had run out of time and couldn't get their the day he promised. And he also said, usually it take a good week for the pool to clear up. But he understood and agreed I had every right to deduct my bill rate and he would except the $1155 and what else beyond that could he do to make up for this mistake. I explained nothing at this point I was totally disgusted and would be placing a complaint out on the internet and google.
