I will try and sum it up as much as possible. - Sloppy -Unprofessional -Man Handles Help -Scam - gives one price and then ask for more after starting - Poor Workman Ship -Worked Past 10PM inside our home They were working on our stair banisters and got paint everywhere on walls and carpet, then he tried to tell my husband my 12 & 15 Year old did it like they are 1 & 2 Years of age. Attention to Detail Pros: attention to detail, quality of most work, communication Cons: timeline, extra costs, deck paint is not up to par I start by saying this was my first serious home renovation. It's not something I've done or experienced so a lot of research was done prior to hiring them. I'm the type that believes you should spend most of your time researching materials. I had to Google "questions to ask home painters" so I knew what to ask and could seem like I knew what was up. I met with about 5 painters. The only quote I never got was from Lancaster (they never sent it, even after a phone call). That all goes to say: I liked the team. They repainted my house, repaired the dry rot, installed a new fence, repainted and repaired my 80s cabinets, and repainted my tiny deck. Bonnie was great for keeping me updated and aware of what was happening. Chris did great ignoring my angry dog every time he came to update me. They were not the cheapest quote I got to repaint but my house needed a lot of repairs and I really wanted it done right. I also wanted their warranty just in case*. So many only offered a 3 month or 1 year warranty and that sounded sketch. The dry rot was bad and I knew that going in. I wanted that all repaired. Materials cost more than expected which hurt my budget but I knew they were just passing along receipts. They didn't change my contract or quote. I wish I had had a better idea of how expensive wood would be. Eek. Another piece of advice: don't be shy and ask the questions you need to. It's your house. They also had to go on to my neighbor's property because I have a zero lot line and he said they were great. When talking to Nick he heard all my concerns and had an answer. I had stucco on my chimney that needed a repair since I BOUGHT the house. My inspector told me about it and my chimney guy. No one would fix it. They removed the dry rot, patched the stucco, and more. I'm still waiting for Nick to check and ensure this work got done since I can't hop up and inspect it myself. Cabinets look gorgeous. It unexpectedly cost an extra $200 to put in cabinet pulls but I had the money. There's a couple of nicks and a few oversprays that I had to touch up. I'll see how they hold up. I'm still waiting for the touch up paint for the white cabinets. () Deck looks eh. My parameters were that it be cooler to touch and easy to clean. My last paint absorbed every muddy puppy print. This one I think may actually be worse or the color just shows the puppy prints more. I would NOT recommend this part. I paid extra for supposedly better paint and it's not a $100 improvement. I should've spent the money on an outdoor rug. This paint didn't last two weeks. I can't imagine what will happen in fall with all the dead leaves on it. Fence looks great. It seems very solid but I'll wait for windy season to see how that goes. Boards are bowing a bit but still looks nice. My last fence was probably built with the house. I wish I had kept it at 5 feet but still good. Now if you want speed or have a tight deadline this may not be your team. They are particular and want things done right. Which usually moved my timeline out. They were great about locking up when I was gone or had to leave. Further clean up sometimes needed to be done but that may just be me and there was a lot of nails and staples, you have to expect some mess. I had black paint so some of the drops of black paint were stark on concrete/brick. And the white was noticeable on my flooring/countertops but it was easy to clean. Keep that in mind if you have harder to clean countertops. I'm still trying to get paint out of my new sink's drain cover. So I'm not pleased about that. If anyone knows how... hit me up. *I will update this review should that be needed. read more

He now employs his nephew and grandson and is passing down all the tricks of the trade. Bonnie, Nick's wife, is the unsung hero of all family owned businesses. She does their books, scheduling, written contracts, payroll; she's a jack of all trades. Bonnie's consistent communication throughout the process is second to none. Rest assured, Bonnie is always there to contact when you have questions and is just as knowledgeable (if not more so!) than some of the painters. I spent over 90 minutes on the phone with her at 9PM going over trim and body colors. **The Service** Nick did the walk through and quoted me the median price for painting the outside of the house. What really sold me when selecting between four painters was the professionalism and thorough contract that was drafted by Bonnie. Every single detail of what they were going to do: the type of primer, that type of paint, the removal of a satellite dish, was described in detail. After the initial quote and paint-prepping phase of the process, I changed my mind. Rather than go with your standard acrylic-based paint, I wanted to go with elastomeric paint. Elastomeric paint is "thick as cranberries", as Nick put it, and demands to be hand rolled rather than sprayed on. It was amazing that they were able to work that unexpected change into their extremely tight schedule. The total timeline was about 9 days. Not a single detail was missed. Nick is an absolute perfectionist when it comes to doors, vents, and stair rails. **TLDR** Suffice to say, my house looks absolutely amazing. Nick did an amazing job and Bonnie was a delight to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to add significant value to their home. Not my favorite cabinet painter. A lot of confusion with contractor. They quoted a price but didn't remember what I asked for; even though I asked twice. The contract was confusing but I guess didn't actually included what I needed. They ended up being the most expensive quote. Next issue, they kept cancelling and changing appointment times. So we would take the time off and wait for them to show but they would cancel at the last minute. It felt like they had over committed on projects and we were low on the list. I have overspray everywhere. Still cleaning up the overspray. The quality of the paint seems ok but there are a few knicks here and there I'm touching up; not sure of the durability. They said give them a call if we have any problems but I'm just done now. read more

I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for quality painters. We hired Rodin to do the following: Paint exterior of the 1490 sq. ft. house, replace/paint two shutters in the front of the house and paint a small rod iron fence. Paint interior living room and ceiling, 3 spare bedrooms and ceilings, baseboards/doors, 1 bathroom no ceiling or baseboard, replace 5 doors. They agreed to do all of this work. They also said they would paint our small kitchen cabinets for 'free'. Nick ball parked $10K and it came back at exactly 10K from Bonnie. Our original start date was on a Monday but they called two days before that to tell us they were pushing our job back a week to finish another customer's job. I took that Monday off because our written contract said Nick would be there on the first day to discuss scope of work and paint colors. That never happened. The workers completed the exterior with little issue except one worker used a hand brush on my rod iron fence so now it looks tacky. It took them a full week to do the exterior but they didn't complete my shutters for another 2 weeks claiming they were searching all over the bay area for the right wood and what I ended up getting looked like used materials... The inside was a disaster. I had one accent wall....one! Nick asked me at least 5 times what colors I wanted and where. I eventually got him a note pad so he could write down the only wall I wanted a different color but it still got painted the wrong color. The guys showed up late almost every day, got paint on my floors, left nails on the ground. I'm not even mentioning everything that happened. It was so bad that we asked for 10% back but they would only do it if we signed tax forms and a contract stating that we could not leave a bad review, WOW!! After Bonnie would not tell me who her accountant was (I'm giving someone my SSN!!!!) I told her we wouldn't sign it. So here I am, wishing I had seen a review like this before choosing them. Will sound nice and professional, but watch and save yourself headaches. Will pressure deposit/contract since telling you they are lined up with interested jobs. Another red flag. Neighbor fired them and we had concerns when saw the incomplete work (they thought was finished). The wife will argue and keeps bringing up family business and they need the consistent income. Wants to feel sorry for them instead of running a professional business and move on. Took $2K from me, but I am glad I did not pay them more and got out in time. Ongoing red flags unfortunately. He pointed out areas that needed extra attention and explained how he planned to take care of it while evaluating the job for the estimate. While other painters only planned to use general primer on exposed beams, he pointed out the need for a specific primer for that particular wood. I used the reviews on Yelp to help me determine if I should go with them. The reviews were very helpful but the work and people itself reassured me that I had made the right decision. I hired them for staining of my kitchen cabinets and they did an excellent job. Nick and Dennis worked together to make sure I had the result I wanted, even going back after I had a concern on the color and making sure it was to my satisfaction. They were hard working and on time every day. I was told it would take two weeks to stain the cabinets and it only took about a week. Bonnie was also great to work with and answered any questions I had right away. I am very happy with the work and the service and would definitely use them again. I'd like to give them a 5, but can't because they broke a promise to me. First of all, they did an excellent job of painting. I could not ask for a nicer job, and did everything they said they would do, except (here's where I'm unhappy): There was some outdoor carpet on the front doorstep, so they didn't protect it because we agreed that after they finished, they would peel it off. They next day they sent one of their fellows over who reported that it would be too difficult, so would not do it. I told the renter, who went out and simply lifted it off the concrete in 5 minutes. (Not glued down, simply sitting on the concrete). I think the guy they sent must be their laziest worker. It's just aggravating, after all the good work, that they would not follow up on the simplest of tasks! It's like being given your favorite meal, but the dessert has too much salt, leaving a bitter taste at the very end. Saw your remark/apology, but obviously he didn't check, by trying a simple lift test. I asked the renter to pull it after I had gone over and looked at it, and even with my amateur eyes and inserting a pencil, could tell it would lift right off. No glue. I still say your worker was too lazy. He could have done the same test I did. read more
