Joe Bosco's is the real deal: authentic, smoky, and made with serious care and quality ingredients. We started with the hush puppies (seriously, these are legendary -- crispy outside, fluffy inside, and perfect with a drizzle of honey), then dove into the main event. The brisket was absolutely phenomenal. We are talking melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly smoked with that deep, rich flavor, no sauce even needed (though their house BBQ sauce is killer too). Sides were on point! Their hand cut fries were special. We also got brussel sprouts and a philly cheese steak. When in Pennsylvania, right? 2nd time here, first time had the brisket, after all, it's a bbq joint. Brisket was good but this time I was hankering for a burger and dang if it wasn't the best tasting burger ever!!!! Hand grind brisket burger to be exact. I opted for the American cheese and freshly made shoe string onions, next time I'll skip the cheese, it took away from that brisket deliciousness. For the mouth food you got it wasn't worth the price it cost it was a little bit expensive and the portions in the matchup. They make their BBQ with a vinegar that no one else has done. But he said this is the best for NJ. Oh and the hush puppies dipped in honey were amazing. Worth a trip back just for those sweeties. Arrived pretty much around 12:30 and there were a few patrons already, but had a chance to meet with the owner and eventually her husband who is the master behind the scenes. She mentioned they came from NY alto start this business so it was nice to hear how it all began. I read it was BYOB so we brought some good beer to accompany the meal. Everything came out hot and delicious. The burnt ends were my favorite but the brisket and ribs were nicely seasoned. Beans were smoky and tangy. Had this place bookmarked for when we were back in the area for a hike. So I was excited to try it on one Sunday afternoon. When we arrived the first thing we noticed is that it didn't smell like a smokehouse. We expect smokehouses to smell like well...a smokehouse. But this spot didn't smell like smoke at all. Upon arriving a really nice woman informed us (and the line that formed behind us) that they were really busy that day and many things were sold out (like burnt ends and some other popular items). We were still able to try a vast array of menu items. Unfortunately we felt like everything was underwhelming. Every item looked really good when we got it but everything severely lacked flavor and smoke. The upside was that no meat was dry and everything was tender but everything desperately needed smoke or a char. The brisket didn't have a good crust on it and lacked flavor. We found the bbq sauce to be super sweet which didn't give the meat what it needed. It was also heavy on the ketchup. Like it literally tastes like ketchup. The Mac and cheese isn't baked but instead is pasta with a cheese sauce mixed in and crackers crumbled atop. My partner said the ribs tasted like nothing which is so odd because pork is usually so flavorful. The corn bread tasted like jiffy with a few corn kernels thrown in. It really didn't taste like corn at all. The potato salad was also on the sweet side although we liked the combo of red and sweet potatoes. We also liked that it wasn't heavy on the mayo. I gave 2 stars for the nice lady who informed us of the menu and was clear in communicating on how ordering worked. The food here was a major let down and I doubt we will return. I'm surprised at the amazing reviews they have-- maybe the food is inconsistent? You live and you learn. What did I learn? If a smokehouse doesn't smell like smoke... walk away. read more

Found this little quaint bbq spot on our way to the winery yesterday and it was a great spot for lunch. Decently quick service for ordering to go. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, burnt end sandwich, and side of Mac and cheese. I am a sucker for good bbq joint Mac n cheese. This was very cheesy and gooey and topped with crunchy breadcrumbs. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful. The burnt ends were very chewy and fatty so maybe just not a good cut of meat on this piece. My family has been coming to the Poconos for 36 years. The other day at work I googled "bbq in the Poconos" and Joe Bosco came back with a lot of good reviews. Up here this weekend with my parents, cousin, and aunt and uncle we decided to make a trip down to The Gap for Saturday dinner and boy are we glad that we made the 40 min drive back down the mountain! They were busy but everything was absolutely worth the wait! The mother/daughter duo running the place were very nice and accommodating! Now, the food. The brisket was outstanding on the first bite. Just a good amount of melt in your mouth fat, the pork ribs fell off the bone. The wings sticky and delicious! For the sides, all, again, outstanding, but the ones I'm thinking about the next day are the hush puppies and mac n cheese! Cole slaw and baked beans were very tasty as well! We also samples pulled pork and chicken. My cousin ordered the Hot Mess and devoured it. Honestly, we all agreed the food was 10/10. I even texted some other family to let them know of the new spot! "New" a sign says they've been there since 2018. Now, after you've stuffed yourself on bbq please leave room for dessert! Peach cobbler and homemade ice cream! The chocolate was rich and delicious and the strawberry was, as my father said, "the best I've had it decades!" We were driving back to NJ when stumbled upon this absolute gem! We immediately met the owner Deb who is literally the best. She gave us a run down on everything she had and the fan favorites. We went with brisket, ribs, and burnt ends. Sides we did the potato salad and Mac and cheese. Side note, EVERYTHING is made In house and fresh, it's unbelievable. The ribs were fantastic and fall off the bone, with great flavor that paired perfectly with her bbq sauce. The bunt ends were just fantastic, some of the best we've had. The brisket I can describe with one word....Devine. The brisket was something I'll Be dreaming about for a long time and I'll without a doubt make a drive just for that. The potato salad was fantastic and her corn bread was on par to being the best I've had thus far. I shit you not her Mac and cheese was so damn good. We literally were baffled at first bite. We ordered pork ends, pork brisket , full rack of ribs, pulled pork that was just enough for two small sandwiches, coleslaw, cornbread, hot mess French fries, a banana pudding and a soda. Let me start this review by saying I am by no means a BBQ smoke master. I've been smoking meats for about 15 years. And I've made better cuts of flavorful meat than I experienced tonight. With that being said, I'm not sure if tonight was an off night or what with this place. I've been here in the past however it was about 2-3 years ago. Back then the food was off the charts delicious. Tonight, I can't say the same. My wife got the ribs. They were bland and mushy. No texture whatsoever. Fall off the bone? Yup! As a pile of fatty snot. I got the burnt ends combo. The brisket was fatty and mushy and whatever the rub is had no flavor. The pork belly was even worse. I know pork belly is supposed to be fatty, but a chunk of fat with no meat is unacceptable. We both got the baked beans. The beans had zero texture, mushy and no flavor. It's supposed to have brisket in it but I didn't find any. The beans tasted and looked like they'd been reheated several times. To be honest, I'd say the meat wasn't cooked fresh either. It had similar taste and texture to when I reheat my meat that I smoke. Definitely not fresh. The Mac n cheese was about the best part of the meal. It was ok, but not mind blowing. And lastly was a corn bread. I've made better corn bread out of a box. If you're looking for a good meal up in the Poconos, skip this place and and go to Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King or Taco Bell. Overall, the food tonight tasted like dirt. And lastly the lady at the register wasn't very friendly. When she asked how the meal was and I didn't give the response she expected she just repeated me with sarcasm in her voice. read more
