Three of us got the Rueben and the waitress said "good choice". She said the owner makes his own corned beef and smokes his own meats. Best Rueben I've had since I left New York 20 years ago. The meat was tender and flavorful, the sauerkraut was soft and tasty, and the bread was outstanding. It was also perfectly prepared. Nice crust on the grilled rye. I love diners. but this one really upset my stomach, and I think the sausage gravy gave us food poisoning both me, and the person that i was with. The food wasn't the tastiest. Don't come here if you have a big party. I called Hickory Valley and asked if they can accommodate 13 adults and 7 children. The lovely lady on the line said as of now it seems ok but it is first come first serve and you may have to wait but we can accommodate. I said no worries I understand and thats fine. Braving the rain with all the kiddies from 4 months to 8 years old we arrive at the restaurant to put our name down. The owner a older gentleman off the bat was displeased to hear we have such a large group and said you'll have to wait. We said no worries and understood. For the next 15 minutes or so we patiently sat at the counter while the owner came back periodically asking if our party was all there. I said no they are a few minutes away due to the rain. Eventually he said to me in front of my kids your party is too big and we won't be able to accommodate your table. I politely said we are willing to wait but the owner refused to accommodate us. I said the lovely lady said she will work to accommodate us and he said that is my wife but don't have room for you all. The staff and the owner's wife was lovely during the whole ordeal but I will never go back to the restaurant given such a horrible attitude and service before I even get seated to eat especially since we called in and was told they will accommodate to telling us to wait for seating only to be turned away afterwards. We left the restaurant and drove to Fork street restaurant and although they did not have seats for us but moved tables around and got us seated within minutes. If you are a big party with kids, I highly recommend skipping Hickory Valley and going to fork street. read more

I was surprised by how big it was inside, plenty of room for all of us "out of towners." Beware of overcharging on the bill which happened to both us and other customers in the restaurant. We had high expectations for this restaurant given the high reviews on both yelp and Google but it is way, way over hyped. We went to a different diner in the area yesterday and it was literally half the price ($115 vs less than $60 for the same exact meal) with higher quality and larger portions. The steak (cooked medium) was literally the toughest meat I've ever tasted. Hubby gave me a piece and in trying to chew it I literally hit my fork against the table and it really pulled at my teeth. And then I gave the piece back to him! The potatoes and pancakes and sausage links were all significantly worse than the other diner in the area. The sausages were about one third the size. Smaller, no whipped cream or sauce or anything. The orange juice was terrible and definitely store bought. I don't know why they added farm to their name. The add on strawberries were not fresh but rather like old, preserved tiny shriveled things in slightly watery jam. This place is definitely a tourist trap full of families and little kids from out of town. Review the bill carefully. read more

The Kielbasa was a recommendation from the waitress and it was a delish, the pancakes were made really well, it had good texture and it was nice and moist, I could eat it with syrup. The eggs were standard, the French Toast was just OK, I feel it needed a little more flavor and it was a little firm for my liking. So, my nephew has been talking about this place for months! He and I are HUGE breakfast foodies so I decided to give it a try. It was Father's Day and so It was my treat - and it was worth the trip! Me and my nephew ordered a side of kielbasa (?) which is split in half and cooked to crispy ( ) I ordered over easy eggs - PERFECT!! BTW not as easy as you might think and rarely cooked correctly. I added the onions and peppers to the Hash browns (a note follows) The bacon was delicious as was the sausage. Here are a few...buts... I think the bread should be revisited as the "whole grain" wheat bread isn't good. It's a slightly brown version of white bread and so if you enjoy true whole grain bread - you will be let down. I ordered the hash browns "well done" and they came out as they did for everyone. That was a bit of a bummer. Now, I am being super-picky - because trust me I ate EVERYTHING and used the "wheat" bread to sop up the remnants left on my plate. Maybe consider offering a HOT LINK to the menu? The coffee was okay. Expected. I'm guessing Farmer Brothers? I enjoy a deep rich dark roast. This place is CASH ONLY - but, you don't need to bring it as they have an ATM machine right next to the cash register. (Very smart) They offer dinner counter service if you're alone. So we have been here for breakfast. A lot of delicious food in a frying pan. Hot and delicious. We decided to try them for lunch. Greeted nicely and coffee was hot and fresh. It was my first time coming here and I was not disappointed. The inside of the restaurant had classic farm decorations and little pigs everywhere.
