My experience with the collision center on the south side was not acceptable. My vehicle was received on July 17th, and I was told that I would receive a text with an update on the completion date. After four days of no notice, I called and was told that my vehicle was still being worked on. I was informed that, due to their painter being sick and their need to acquire a painter from another store, my completion date would be moved. Ironically, about 20 minutes after I hung up, I received a status text update stating a completion date of July 24th. I remained patient, even when the date was changed to the 28th. However, as I was en route to pick up my vehicle, I received a notice that it was not ready. Upon arriving, I was told that the painter was on vacation and that they would have my vehicle ready the very next day. The following morning, I called just to confirm that it would be ready. My representative, Jessica, assured me that my vehicle would be ready that evening at 4:30 PM. I turned in my rental car to Enterprise at exactly 4:00 PM and requested transport to Joe Hudson. At about 4:15 PM, while the driver and I were on the way, I received a call stating that my car was not actually ready because the technician did not like the part being installed. This explanation didn't make sense, considering my previous conversation with Jessica, where I was told the issue was due to the painter's unavailability. I feel like I was being lied to. The driver had to return me to the rental store, which meant I had to redo the rental on my credit card, causing funds to be frozen on my card for the second time in one day. The communication provided by my representative was very poor. Although the body shop covered the remainder of the rental time, I did not feel that they were apologetic for wasting my time--not once, but twice. On the actual pick-up day, there was a car part left in my front seat. I informed the front office, and they claimed it was something that came off my car, but they could not visually match it to anything on my vehicle, as I only came in for a busted tail light. My hope is that communication is improved moving forward, because the service I received was very unsatisfactory. read more

After I picked up the repaired car, the engine light came on, and the temperature gauge for the engine coolant was indicating "hot" after 20 minutes. If I had not stopped and parked the car, it could've done serious damage. They told me somebody forgot to put coolant in the car which cools the engine! Huge mistake. They were lucky that I even looked at my dashboard and that I even knew to pull over as soon as possible. What if I had gone on a trip? Or had to be somewhere? It was inconvenient for me and two other people. I'm on crutches and had to go up and down the stairs extra times. They also postponed the repair twice. They send you a text letting you know when it will be ready and I still had to keep calling to ask. Some of their labor is subcontracted, which means not so high-quality mechanics I think. Many insurance companies use Joe Hudson but if you have a choice, do not go to Joe Hudson. Even if you do have insurance telling you to go to Joe Hudson, maybe go to another garage because Joe Hudson only warranties for 90 days for Travelers. There could be something wrong with your car after 90 days and then I'd have to pay even if it's their fault. Who knows what else they didn't do right. But if I had gone to a better body shop, maybe the repair would be of a better quality! Here's the kicker - I had to pay uber to bring me to pick up the repaired (hopefully) car. No compensation. Robeman's in Birmingham Alabama is better. Reviews for Joe Hudson (not a local company) are not good on other sites either. read more

They completed the job ealier than estimated which should have been a red flag. They reused broken parts from the accident, there is overspray on my tail lights, my wash fluid isn't working and my car is missing pieces that it shouldn't. I contacted them twice and still haven't received a response. This is the uppermost worst experience Ive ever had with a car repair company. I was rear ended and had no choice other than to take my Subaru to this shop. It took over 2 months. When I picked it up, they hadn't even gone to the effort of placing the rubber bumper guard on. A tire was at 20 #. They had obviously left the car out in the rain without the rear hatch and my spare tire well was full of disgusting, stagnant water. Almost threw up getting in the car. Nope, never take your car there. The people are nice but their work is not. read more

I decided to deal with Joe's because my insurance deals directly with them, and I figured it'd be easy to just go through them......boy was I wrong . I dropped my car off on 7/2/2024 for repairs after an accident I'd had. They gave me an estimated completion date of 7/26/24. When Friday, 7/26/24 came around, no one called me with any updates with my vehicle. They're closed on the weekends, so I couldn't get any info then, and ended up having to wait until Monday. On Monday 7/29/24, I was told by Callie that my vehicle wasn't ready to be picked because they were waiting on a wheel opening molding (a plastic piece) to come in. So, I said okay, and waited a few more days to get any info. I called again on Wednesday 7/31/24, and spoke to Justin, who told me that they were still waiting on this plastic part, that it had been ordered, and comes fairly quickly. He told me that I could "count on it being ready on Thursday" (his words verbatim). Thursday, 8/1/24 rolled around, and before I was able to call to check on my vehicle, Callie called and left a voicemail that said "we are still waiting on the wheel opening molding. We don't have an ETA on when it will be delivered, so we have no ETA on when your vehicle will be completed".....at that point, I'd had enough with all the back and forth. So, I took it upon myself to show up to the facility and demand to see what was going on with my car, or leave with the vehicle entirely and just replace the plastic piece elsewhere. I got there soon after they opened at 8am, and after a little while, I was told I could take my car....it just needed to go through detailing and inspection. My car was pulled over from a lot, to the sidewalk where detailing is located. I walked around my car, trying to figure out what piece was missing.....because it looked like the job had been completed. I asked Callie, who checked with the manager on it, and surprisingly, per the manager, the part they needed (and had no ETA on) was delivered late the night before, and put on my car before I got there (mind you, I showed up unexpectedly....so sounds fishy to me). So, now I wait for detailing, and inspection to be done. I waited inside the office, and my car sat by the detailing area for two hours because unbeknownst to the detailing crew, nobody told them my car was ready to be detailed. It took the guy that was detailing cars to come in and ask if my car was ready to even be cleaned. I repeatedly asked how long it would take to finish my vehicle to which I was told "it'll be just a while longer".....no real or actual ETA, which has been an issue this entire time. No one told me that I would be waiting around on someone to come to the facility itself to do the inspection on my vehicle, or how long it would take. The communication was just piss poor!! FOUR HOURS LATER.....I finally got my car. The work they did is good....and is the ONLY reason they got two stars from me. I really should give you all ZERO stars because my vehicle was returned to me with an unaccounted for 300 miles more than what was on there when you all received it. I hadn't driven my vehicle since 7/2/2024.....so no reason why there are 300 additional miles on my vehicle that I DID NOT put on there. Also, I have a dash cam that shows that my vehicle was being driven while in your possession, and not just to make sure my car was functioning well......you all were doing BODY work, not mechanical work. So, I can prove that you all conduct horrible business, and take advantage of the fact that you have people's cars and use them for your leisure. What if you had a wreck, or had gotten a ticket in my vehicle??? Then what?? I'll never work with you all again! This was the most horrible experience I've ever had. To anyone else.....RUN!!! Go somewhere else unless you want to deal with poor communication, lies, and people driving your vehicle when they're supposed to be fixing it!! Cause 300 miles is a trip to Georgia and back plus some from Birmingham, AL.....yall do the math. read more

The quality work. It's the small things that go along way. My first red flag was the fact they left off the word RAM in chrome letters off the passenger side of my door. Which they agreed to correct. So it made me dive deeper into look at stuff on the repaired side of my truck a 2023 year old truck. The passenger side doors needed to be replaced. Which they used LKQ parts. So who knows what kind of truck they came off of. The outer door panels had two humps which meant they were not put on correctly. Whoever prepped my truck took his hands with white stuff on it to the inside of my truck. So I had/have white hand prints on the inside of interior. My truck came with an alpine system upgraded. Instead of paying attention and taking those speakers out of the old doors they used whatever came on the LKQ doors. So the alpine speakers OEM gone. Like I said the small things go a long way and paying attention to people stuff. They are in a rush to throw your car together. Customer service was good. The staff was friendly. But I wanted my truck back to its ORIGINAL status. The paint job with shading it in is good work. read more

I accidentally snapped off my license plate holder bolt which resulted in it needing to be drilled and tapped. Went here during the day and had a service manager look at it immediately. They were really busy but told me to come back a few days later and they would take care of it. I came back and they took my car in and I was out in 30 minutes, free of charge! The service manager was very friendly and knowledgable, makes me wanna get into cars. Lol read more

At first appearance the work seemed to have been done to satisfaction but upon closer inspection that proved incorrect. While the vehicle's front end may scrape lightly upon entering the driveway, something that never presented a problem during my four years of ownership, the front left fender now regularly pops out of its interlocking tabs. Inspecting the damage I noticed that the interior skirting was not properly reconnected on both sides of the front end which may have compromised the unit's integrity. After having a representative inspect the damage I had hoped to receive a reply and assurance that Joe Hudson stands behind its work. It appears, however, that this is not the case and the customer is left with a damaged vehicle. Hence this review. read more

First I'd like to say that WATKINS has recently been acquired by JOE HUDSON COLLISION. Prior to this acquisition they might have been fine. However, now that JOE HUDSON HAS taken over- disaster! Rude, unprofessional and overall terrible experience. They took my car in to fix abs after a week hadn't even started. They said the person who was working on it got sick. First of all, Watkins was recommended by my dealer after I was hit on the interstate. I had no prior experience with them, but as I have had to have collision damage repaired on another car elsewhere, I knew what I did not want. When I took my car in, Gary let me know right up front that since this vehicle was new to the States, parts availability would be an issue, and could cause delays. I told him that when i had had another car "fixed" elsewhere, some of the body electrical never worked right again. Gary reassured me, and said, that they would not stop until everything was exactly as it should be. Gary proved true to his word. The car is in brand new shape again (it was less than 2 months old when i was hit) and everyone who has seen it says that you can't even tell it was ever in a wreck. Some parts had to come from overseas, the repairs took 7 weeks. Most of that was just wait time on getting parts in that have never been stocked on this side of the Atlantic. If you want the job done RIGHT then go to Watkins Auto Body. They will not stop until it is perfect. read more

The service at Watkins Auto Body has been absolutely unacceptable. Three different times I have been told my car would be ready, but each time I'm given some excuse as to why it will take longer. Multiple times I have called to inquire about the status of my vehicle and the employee I am dealing with is out to lunch. If my car is 3 days late because they aren't finished with it, why is he out to lunch????? My car had very minor external damage. All that was required was a hood replacement and some minor paint touch ups. My friend had more extensive damage done to his car, and his was completed in half the time at a body shop in Helena. I recommend finding elsewhere if you want timely repairs and decent customer service. read more

I bought a car from Robert Crowley wholesale of 4th ave. s. a few years ago. I tried several times to get the title from him for months after the purchase. He gave me nothing but runaround. After I told him I was contacting the police about it, he told me to go to Watkins Auto Body to pick up the title. When I walked into the office, some young punk in a flat bill pulled a gun on me & threatened me, telling me not to ever come back. These are very shady people who operate with zero integrity. I love their top tier communication. I get to know everything about my vehicle as soon as I call 5 times a day nagging for an update. They have too tier detailing, which is why I found tape and snipped wires all over the floor and backseat in my car after repairs were completed. Not to mention the lovely fibres that we're all over my hood when I came to pick it up. And my absolute favorite is when they tell you they'll call you 'right back' and then you don't hear anything for hours later - or better yet the next business day, seeing as they don't dare operate a second after 5:00! read more

I have used Watkins Auto Body since the first of my 3 adult children (now 31) was a new driver. (and we unfortunately had our share of scrapes in these last 15 years). My experience with them has always been outstanding! Their body and paint work are superior, minimizing the loss of value that our vehicles might suffer from evidence of poorly repaired damage. Charlotte--the office manager--and each of the service managers are excellent to work with and all readily available to answer questions. My repairs have always been completed according to the schedule that the service manager estimated. Any delays were explained thoroughly and invariably had to do with my insurance company (which I was able to verify). Watkins even has a graphic in the office explaining the timeline of a body repair job. I have always felt that with Watkins, the repair restored my car to its pre-accident condition. Mike Watkins and his staff set the bar high, and their eyes can spot repair problems I would probably never notice. Over the years I have even taken several tentative used car purchases to them to look for evidence of previous body work, shoddy or otherwise. On at least one occasion they were able to show me the evidence of poor repairs from previous substantial body work that my carfax report did not reveal. I have 15 years of experience with Watkins Auto Body and I would not take my vehicles anywhere else. read more

I called Jennifer at the front desk almost everyday and she never got upset or flustered she just handled me the way it seemed she would want to be handled! The repairs were finished in about three days, and it looks brand new. Not only that, they detailed the entire car, inside and out! Prior to choosing this shop, I shopped around for estimates. Not only did Watkins Auto Body come in far cheaper, but they went above and beyond what was expected, and were polite and understanding in the process. If you want to trust the work, this is the place to go. My family can't stop complimenting how great the car looks. Mr. Watkins and two other men pushed my car out of the parking space to jump the battery off and then led me to a place to get a new battery!
