He communicated well, responded quickly, and showed up on time. Unfortunately, similar to many firewood companies in Santa Barbara, they don't know cord measurements. The price quoted for a 1/4 cord was actually 4x4 - which is only a 1/4 if the logs are 2' long. They are not 2' long nor do you commonly see logs that are 2' long. This misconception is common in this area and I've dealt with a few other people who think the same thing. Once we came to an agreement on the actual wood size, I gladly paid a little bit more to get the proper 1/4 size that I needed, and they quickly delivered it and stacked it for a small fee. Unfortunately, the wood was not ready to burn. It was very wet - burning the wood resulted in an hour of sizzling over a gas starter before it would ignite and each time a new log was added it sounded like boiling water. Jeremy was friendly when I let him know offered a few ideas on how to dry it out... The communication felt a little unofficial to begin but I trusted it to get done and sure enough it did, and the men who took out our tree were wonderful and hardworking. It took them 5 days to take it all down and cut up the roots (due to a law in Ojai that requires electric chain saws and requires time to charge them half way through a work shift). Since we were not on a time crunch it worked fine for us. The guys did good work, but we had to ask them to cut the roots otherwise they were going to leave them. They did it all for $2100, which was a fantastic price! The estimate didn't change even though the tree took a while to take out and we added in the root grinding and a bit of the neighbors tree that was taken out by our fallen one. I would go back to Carlos for any and all handyman needs in the future. He runs a great business for great prices.
