I rented a condo for 30 days, nice clean property, staff was extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

My family and I rented the White Marlin oceanfront in Nags Head the first week of June. There were so many problems with this home that are too numerous to list but I will post a few. The pool furniture was broken to pieces, the hot water did not work, silverware service for 6, electric mixer did not work, commode broken, toilet paper holder and towel racks fell off in the floor, house was not cleaned very well as there was sand everywhere, linens on bed did not appear to be very fresh, TV in family room stopped working, the grass was not cut. After a call to them they did fix some of our issues but half of our week was over by then. We have been to OBX for four years and this was our most expensive house we have rented and the worst. Very disappointed with Joe Lamb! read more

Over the course of 30 plus years we have rented numerous homes from numerous rental agents to include a few from Joe Lamb Jr. This year was the worst of the worst and short of finding a dead body or animals used for religious sacrifices I cannot imagine it being worse. We rented Coleman's Sisters Three Getaway #465 from 9-16-2017 through 9-23-2017. When we arrived the cleaning service was almost done so we waited maybe 15/20 minutes for them to finish. When they left they placed all the plastic bags of dirty linens from the previous renters outside the front door, where they remained all week. When we left they were still there. The house has 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms plus a pool and hot tub so it's a large family friendly home, or at least it is supposed to be. My nephew who is a paramedic informed me that what we dealt with was bio-hazard material and he was correct. In the process of putting our sheets on the bed (bedroom #1) we found blood on the mattress cover "about the size of a small saucer" it was not a stain nor was it from a bloody nose "based on the location of the blood". We removed the mattress cover and flipped the mattress. We moved to (bedroom #2) and found sheets already on the bed. Apparently the clearing crew did not remove the sheets from the previous tenant(s) or maybe the sheets had been on the bed for some time. We have no way of knowing! We pulled the sheets off that bed and found mice droppings between the fitted and flat sheet. We stripped the bed and again flipped the mattress. Moved upstairs to the living room and found a pair of men's (used dirty underwear) between the pillows on the love seat. So in a matter of just under a half an hour we found human blood and animal and human feces. How can it get worse than that? The kitchen counters had crumbs behind everything. There were bowls in the cabinets that had food residue in them. The refrigerator smelled horrible. The master bathroom had mold all in the shower. The pool wasn't cleaned until 2 days prior to check out and I refused to allow my family members to use the hot tub. Lord knows what kind of creepy crawlies were in there. It was just a very dirty home and unfortunately the owner is allowing the house to reflect the lack of care and maintenance. I left a message with Joe Lamb the night we arrived explaining what we had found and asking them to return my call. They did not call me on Sunday morning so I called them. I spoke with Maria "in charge of housekeeping" and she was extremely apologetic and I appreciate that. I then spoke to someone named Jeff "not sure what position he holds with Joe Lamb" but the most he could offer me was a delayed check out time. He told me that Joe Lamb was not set up to do "REFUNDS". I was and am still perplexed that a realtor could not offer me or my family anything other than an extended check out time. Blood and feces isn't enough to warrant anything other than time. Don't get me wrong both Maria and Jeff offered to have the cleaning crew come back in to clean and of course they offered me a clean mattress cover but the damage was done. My entire family was just grossed out. We sprayed Lysol everywhere and wore either shoes or socks while inside. We did clean enough for us and the house was definitely cleaner then when we arrived but we won't be renting anything from them again. So very disappointed! I know the owners have 9 rental properties in the Outer Banks and I sincerely hope that the owners address the cleaning issues with Joe Lamb. Based on all the reviews I have read the cleaning issues seem to be a prevalent problem with Joe Lamb rentals. We will never rent from Joe Lamb Jr Realty again. At this point all I can hope for is that none of my family members caught any disease(s) from the blood or feces. read more

We have been renting from Joe Lamb for over 20 years and have definitely noticed a decline right from check in. Used to be greeted with a friendly "welcome", this time barely a hello. We were told no more early check in, we would have to wait until the contracted time of 4 pm. OK, I can live with that, except, upon check in I had to wonder what the delay was, laundry room was a wreck, trash everywhere. Broken glass at bottom of entrance steps, screen hanging out of entrance door, several burned out light bulbs, dirty sheets still on beds, dirty bed spreads, hair in shower. Refrigerator froze almost everything even when turned down. Disappointed in lack of grill, first time ever in over 20 yrs. Home in desperate need of thorough, deep cleaning, terrible musty smell that traveled home with us. Home was just not clean. On a good note, plenty of hot water and great location (Stallings, Nags Head #187). Will not stay here again and debating whether to continue with Joe Lamb. read more

Roaches! We rented a house from JL & Assoc's which was falsely advertised. Besides having a roach issue, the home did not look anything like the photo's. Run away from 108 Sand Pebble Ct, Rental unit 044. The house is trashed on the inside. We found human hair on the sheets (not just a single strand). The bed in the master sunk in the middle, nails were sticking out from the deck's and fences in multiple locations, the kids could not open two of the patio doors (very difficult), pool table has a rip, the kitchen counter has experienced heavy water damage and should be considered a health violation, they had only cheap plastic dollar store chairs around the pool, the yard grass was very tall, cracked, chipping and peeling paint throughout the home. The home was very very dirty. We believe we paid for a Toyota Camry but ended up with a Jalopy. Extremely disappointed with JL and the who experience. read more

We stayed at rental 336 its my Tern in Nags Head, NC the week of 7/9/17. First the positives, location was awesome and it was big. That's it. Nothing else in this home or the home itself measures up to the representation or the price at which the rent was on our stay ($8281). This home was an absolute wreck. Lights and outlets broken, icemaker broken and mildewed as well, bed footboard put on with duct tape, really? Upstairs deck was decked over the old deck and water ran into the 2nd floor sliding glass door frames and onto the carpets but they were already aware of that because they had removed the padding under the carpet about 3 feet into each bedroom. All water pressure in all bathrooms was horrible and most shower handles leaked furthering the pressure issue. The beds have the most uncomfortable mattresses I have ever laid my head upon and I woke up every morning with a back and neck ache. They actually felt like a box spring instead of a mattress. Outside the home you had a hot tub with half the jets operational, an outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand that had a busted pipe at the bottom, deck boards and spindles broken or loose. Trash laying in the sea oats around the deck not picked up. Shingles on the roof missing. Unwrapped or painted wood and rotten plywood all around the house. I guess I should have known what was to be when we pulled in the driveway, by the way is very hard to spot at night. When we arrived, I noticed that the retaining walls lining the drive about half way, made of lumber, were ALL laying over and in disrepair. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, don't bother with renting the towels at $95. Just bring your own or buy some while you are down there. For 9 people and a baby we received 9 towels and 9 washcloths wrapped in saran wrap. Saran wrap? I thought I was paying for a linen service not leftovers. They were of dismal quality. I ended up going to TJMaxx up the road and bought $100+ of towels and washcloths so that no one spent their vacation washing towels in the ground floor laundry room. Did I mention the spots in the carpet from pet stains or the ants in the kitchen every day, or the 2 roaches we killed in the dining room? So I started to call Joe Lambs office that Monday and was planning on ripping someone a good one but calmed down as I didn't want to ruin our vacation nor did I want to coordinate the renovation of this beach house but I did contact them when we got home. I emailed them pretty much with the same description as what is above, maybe a little more detailed and colorful and received a fairly prompt response of "sorry" and "we'll forward it to....". No mention of sorry that the house was so bad and yes we knew it and what can we do for your inconvenience and our obvious misrepresentation of this property? Oh and can we refund you your $95 for the towels and the $125 for sheets since we obviously don't change the sheets every time someone stays due to the "make the beds in a tidy fashion before you leave" policy. We literally felt ripped off by this company. I am of modest means and do not expect luxury and I live in a house valued at probably a tenth of the value of this home and I would take my home any day over this one. It is literally the single worst vacation home, hotel, condo, cottage, anything I have ever stayed at in my 47 years. Joe Lamb and the home's owners should be ashamed for taking peoples hard earned money and giving them such a dump in return for it. I work hard for my money as well as the other guests with us that chipped in for the rent for this vacation. None of us are rich and value our time and money. As for this review, I am sure you will see the same response from I believe it was Jodie from their office that will read "We are sorry for your inconvenience, you should have called us during your stay so that we could coordinate the roofer, the plumber, the electrician, the carpenter, the exterminator, the hot tub repairman, the carpet guy, the appliance delivery person or the carpet cleaners and/or installers." Nah, it will probably just blame us for not calling and the usual blah that I have been reading in their responses to every one but the favorable reviews. read more

Unprofessional!!.. They could care less about the home owner. Our home was never cleaned well, items were stolen.. They rented our home to college students.. The law in NC is 25.. They never checked any of the 7 girls id's (they were Sophomores in college). When I called the house to check in on the renters and realized there were no parents staying at the house. I immediately called the Joe Lamb Office and requested a check in. They refused. My husband ended up speaking with Dan ,the president around 11pm that evening (after multiple calls with the office)..Dan was yelling at my husband and telling us that this was our fault! (we did not rent the home to those underage girls). They do not not adhere to there policies. We also had a wedding help at our home. ( we had no knowledge of this) There were 50 people staying at the house .. sleeping all over the floors. There is a detailed policy for that as well. Too many stories to share. If you are a home owner.. Beware !! List your home elsewhere. They do not care about you!!! read more

We rented from Joe Lamb in 2010 and will never rent from them again. The house was misrepresented, dirty and in disrepair. When I brought my concerns up to them they ignored me. Look around the internet on the customer ratings and you'll see I'm not the only one that feels this rental company is horrible. We have been renting through Joe Lamb for 14 years. This was the first year we had a problem with the house we rented. Gary Cox and Kim Dubec consulted with the owner to come to a resolution of a refund for us. We are very pleased that they cared about their clients and helped us with the issues we had during our stay. We will happily rent through Joe Lamb for many more years to come. read more

I will never use Joe Lamb to rent a vacatIon home again. I had used them previously in the past, but this recent experience was a disaster! We rented unit# 288 the week of labor day. We chose this house because of the beautiful pictures we seen on their website. When we arrived we found a house that was filthy! Rugs were stained and dirty, the dishes in the kitchen were very worn and dirty, stains on the walls, doors, deck furniture. And worst of all, we woke up on our 3rd day of the vacation to find ants everywhere in the kitchen! There also were no batteries in just about every remote in the house. Good service, excellent property selection and in the right location.

Sometimes you have an experience so bad that you don't wait until vacation is over to leave your review. First, the property we are renting comes without toilet paper, dishwasher soap, trash bags, or a hair drier. One of the shower curtain liners is covered in mildew and falling off. The carpet is filthy. I could go on but that would detract from the punch line, which is that today they threatened eviction from the rental property as a result of a mistake made by the payment processor last month -- but instead of assuming that the customer was right, the woman I spoke to told her that "someone" told her to handle it that way. Took all afternoon to get it resolved. Maybe "someone" needs a remedial class in hospitality. Avoid these guys at all costs. Many better alternatives out there. read more

We rented house #477 (Conch Shell) and were extremely disappointed, so we'll be renting from Twiddy next year. There was mold in two rooms on the walls, floor, and in a closet, and the smell in the closet was terrible. The dirty sheets from the last tenants were in a huge pile as soon as you walked in the front door. There were no bath mats, and one shower curtain was covered with mildew. Joe Lamb clearly spent little time on upkeep here, because simple maintenance items were neglected (one deck door didn't lock, a closet door was off the tracks, a doorknob was falling off, and a number of light bulbs were out). There was a deck chair left in two pieces with nails sticking out of it. This was certainly not worth the nearly $5k we paid. read more

Booked with Joe Lamb Jr last year. We had a backed up bath tub problem. I called on Thursday, again on Friday and it still was not taken care of when we left on Saturday. My wife called and complained. We wanted some refund of funds and all they would do is waive the administration fee if we booked again with them. Really? Sorry you dropped the ball. How hard is it to send out a plumber? In a reputable hotel, that would have been fixed immediately or you would be sent to another room. We spent $4,000. I will never, ever book with this company again and we will continue to go to Outrr Banks for years and years but not with Joe Lamb Jr! read more

Would give them 0 stars if possible...The previous family's review is nothing close to to the experience we had with Joe Lamb Realty. When we left the OBX last summer, we realized three things 1- they are rude, 2- they are condescending and 3- we will never rent from them again. The home itself was in the heart of Nags Head and just down the street from the new pier currently under construction. The home we rented was for all intensive purposes brand new since it had been recently remodeled (furnishings, paint, flooring, pool, etc). Clearly the owner had put a lot of effort and money into the home, but it appeared that it hadn't been cleaned all summer. When we arrived, the showers had mildew growing in them, dirty dishes in the sink and what appeared to be dog feces in the family room. We called them countless times and asked them to clean the home, but kept getting transferred from one person to the next. Eventually we realized that they weren't going to do anything and so we went to the grocery store and bought cleaning supplies to clean it ourselves. When someone from housekeeping eventually called us back (day 3), they told us that the home was cleaned and inspected prior to our arrival. Somehow they must have missed the dishes, mildew and dog poop. We asked to be reimbursed for the cleaning supplies and they said that they would check with the owner to see if they would give us a credit. Needless to say, we never heard back from them. When we brought to their attention upon checkout, they claimed that they never heard anything about the home being dirty, nor did they know anything about the credit from the seller. They told us that "the home was cleaned and inspected prior to our arrival"...see a pattern here??? They went on to say that the dog poop must have been from our dog and we didn't know it. When we asked about the dishes and mildew, we were told that "it's been a long summer and sometimes people miss things". Seriously, how do you miss dishes, mildew and dog poop??? Clearly this organization would never be able to operate their business in any other market other than a resort area. They MUST not have a business model that includes repeat renters. In the end, Joe Lamb tried to blame the owner of the home for everything that was wrong, but in reality it was Joe Lamb Jr Realty who were the ones to blame. Next year we will go back to who we have used in the past. read more

July 7 - 14, 2012 We rented #839 Shindigs and I can't say enough good things about the house and Joe Lamb & Assoc. My daughter is in a wheelchair and this house was listed as wheelchair accessible. When I called the office to ask specific questions about the house, the staff was very helpful and got me the answers I needed. We arrived and found the house to be exactly as described on their website. The elevator and the wheelchair pool lift were a big addition to this rental. My daughter could get on all the decks and to the pool area with no trouble. She spend hours in the pool having fun with everyone. That isn't always possible, since most pools do not provide lifts for guests. The master bedroom was large and the bathroom was completely wheelchair accessible with a roll in shower. We had a wonderful and relaxing week. The owner of this home has done everything to make it accessible for someone in a wheelchair. We have already booked Shindigs again for next summer. read more

We rented It's My Turn - summer 2011 - The house was in complete dis-repair both in terms of maintenance and general cleanliness. In addition, the house was un-safe - with expose nails, broken deck railings, and broken light fixtures. One of the master bed rooms, as well as the upstairs, were in habital due to the condition of the screens and old windows. When we complained we were told to not open the windows ... We had a pest inspector, building code official and several other visitors. Not a good week. I would suggest finding specific reviews of a house before you put down $6k ... once you arrive - you are stuck. read more

I never needed any person to person contact with agent as everything was done online. I followed the directions, was able to enter property when I was told the keyless entry would work, no issues with the house I rented so I never had to call. The house was exactly as pictured. Everything inside was clean, beds very comfortable and somehow noises did not carry from room to room. I took my 3 (20 something kids) all bringing a friend and I never heard the music by the pool or any of the movies from the movie room. Very enjoyable vacation. I've never rented a vacation home before and will definitely use Joe Lamb again. read more

Would never rent from this company again. 610 Daisy Dune had cockroaches inside and out, refrigerator broke and no one came to fix. Offer minimal amount to satisfy didn't even cover the ice I had to buy for the broken refrigerator. They tell you don't worry about it just enjoy your vacation and we'll deal with it after. They don't deal with anything once they have your money. Will NEVER book with them again. Beware, they say everything has to go through property owners and they are only the agent. I noticed that Joe Lamb has changed the house number on the unit for which we gave a poor review. We were in #439 and this year the same unit is called #442. It is also very interesting that on the Yelp site, many of the poor reviews are grouped as not recommended and are not included in Joe Lambs over-all star rating. Rented from this company for many years. Last June we had the worst experience ever. Traveled 10 hours with 3 families and my elder parents. The check in time was promised at 4 pm. House was still not ready. 20 mins go by and a lady and her young daughter show up to clean a 6 bedroom 3 level home. After many phone calls to the higher ups at joe lamb jr., Nothing was done. Another set of contracted house cleaners came and helped clean. They too even said Joe Lamb Jr., is horrible and does not care at all about the renters. Horrible company and they do not take care of their renters- that's evident. We will never use this company again. After reading many reviews they continue to have the same problems with the cleanliness of the houses. Disgusting!!! read more

We rented from Joe Lamb Jr and the experience was horrid... We rented property 803 because the photos online were representing a rental property that fulfilled our needs. Once we got to the OBX and property 803, many of the amenities featured were not available. The hot tub was broken...the decking and walkway from the back of the property to the beach was dilapidated with nail and boards sticking up cause injury to grandchildern's feet... The bathrooms and the HVAC had extensive mold contamination ...entertainment system was completely broken. Several TVs didn't even have remote controls. We left before the week was up due to itchy eyes and throats from the black mold being unbearable. Joe Lamb took a potential great vacation and turned it into one disappointment after another. Now they will not return our phone calls... read more

We have been going to the OBX for a very long time and have always used Beach Reality. This year we went for a bigger house and booked under Joe Lamb. Big mistake. The house was #807. When we arrived the whole bottom floor of the house smelled of urine. The blankets in the closets had never been washed I don't think, they were covered in dog hair and on one, what looked like feces. The jets on the hot tub didn't work, the bathrooms were nasty......and on and on!!! I will never rent from them again. Called the office the first day and girl who answered the phone was very nice, she told me I needed to leave a message for the Manager so I did. Of course I never heard back from anyone. read more

My family and I rented a house from Joe Lamb Jr and Associates for the week of my wedding. We had a wonderful experience! The staff was very friendly! We were being pretty picky by demanding a house in a certain area that had to be pet-friendly...That was no problem for Joe Lamb as his staff took it upon themselves to find the perfect place in our requested area, and yes it was pet-friendly! The house was very clean and in great condition. After having some not-so-good experiences with OTHER companies in the past, we will be booking with Joe Lamb JR and Associates from now on! We are currently staying in rental 641. The rental itself is cute, but it has not been kept up. We arrived to gross bathrooms. Muddy foot prints in the shower, moldy shower curtains, and hair from the previous occupants in the drains and on the shower walls. We called and reported the filth and they sent the same cleaning crew out again. It took them 10 min to " re clean " the 4 bathrooms and they still left hair clumps on the walls. The cleaning consisted of spraying bleach on the walls. While watching the cleaning crew leave the house beside ours who was also managed by Joe Lamb, we witnessed one of the "cleaning people" take the mop that he used to presumably "clean" the floors of the home and wipe the front of his truck off! The hot tub hasn't worked since we checked in. Someone was supposed to come fix it today and didn't show. We vacation in OBX every year. We will NEVER rent a home managed by Joe Lamb again! read more

We just returned from our family vacation. We rented "Oh the Places You'll Go" and it was the WORST HOUSE EVER. We were very disappointed. It was so poorly maintained and unloved, and if you ask me, it was false advertising. It clearly did not match the description in all of the pictures. We paid a lot of money and we had high expectations. We contacted the realty company (Joe Lamb) on Monday morning with a laundry list of issues. They were responsive, however couldn't fix the major things without the owner's authority, which we understood. Many of the amenities were in poor shape or didn't work at all. The toaster didn't work. (Joe Lamb did replace it the next day) There were boards on the deck that were loose or even pulled up with the nails poking out. (Joe Lamb tried to make it safer). There was a big hole in the wall because the baby gate didn't work. Screens were ripped from the doors. (Joe Lamb fixed them the best they could) The furniture was worn and the seat cushions were disgusting - we didn't even want to sit on them. There were burnt out light bulbs in every room/bathroom. The outside pool area/decks were dirty and the yard, playground, and volleyball net was not maintained. The house is supposed to accommodate 14 people. We had three wine glasses and eight water glasses. We had to go and buy glassware at Walmart. There were FOUR deck chairs in a house that is supposed to accommodate 14 people. This is clearly a case of where the owner does not seem to care that he is ripping people off. DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY....IT IS A DISASTER!!! Our family honestly thought that this was a college frat house. Joe Lamb's maintenance guys/office staff were good, but clearly they are representing a poor product. read more

This is the second time we have rented a property at the Outer Banks through Joe Lamb Jr. and Associates and this experience is even better than the last. We arrived to see a heating and air conditioning truck in the driveway and thought "Uh, oh" but the maintenance worker had finished fixing the problem and everything in this house has worked just perfectly. All appliances and hot tub and jacuzzi tub, etc. You only appreciate this when you have stayed in rentals where these things have NOT worked. We also appreciate a good bed as we have stayed in places where the beds were NOT good. Many of the bigger houses in the Outer Banks have 4 and 5 families sharing the rentals and that many people using a house, especially with younger children along, are hard on the houses and I know it is a challenge to keep up with replacing broken or stolen items (face it...it happens) and the folks at Joe Lamb do a good job of maintaining the houses so that each renter can have a good week in their house. We have stopped in the office on several occasions and are always treated promptly and efficiently by the friendly staff there. Again, we appreciate this and notice this as this has not always been our experience with other rental companies on the Outer Banks. Joe Lamb will be our first choice when looking for a home to rent at the Outer Banks! read more

Very disappointing. We have used Joe Lamb before for family vacations to outer banks and came back to them due to good service. Not this time! We rented 023 which appears to be quite lovely on website. Not as advertised, Very outdated property. Elevator didnt work when we arrived (one reason we rented this property due to an elderly family member) and they just acted like we needed to figure out what to do with him like he is an inconvenience or something.(one lady at office told one of us we could cancel and go home...huh?) Finally got that fixed after two days. Then left message for maintenance because pool light was out, only two of four jets in hot tub worked, our daughter had no sheets on her upper bunk bed, and the house looked like it hadnt been cleaned. I understand that they are not the owners and can only do so much but when you have rented and planned your family vacation way in advance to get the things you need and want, pay in advance expecting to get what you paid for, and expect to be taken care of when things are not as advertised, its very disappointing when this doesnt happen. Best thing about this house was free WiFi. We love the outer banks and plan to return but unfortunately will be booking with another real estate company. You lost loyal customers on this one! read more

.My friends and I rented # 60 September 21st thru the 28th. Mid week... on Wednesday the AC went out on the 3rd / top floor of this home. We called joe Lamb Realty immediately and were told that it would be fixed on Thursday. Then we were told it would be Friday, because they had to order a part. It wasn't repaired until mid day on Saturday; and this after we had to call them back again. So who knows if they would have even been there on Saturday if we hadn't called back. The top floor of this home housed the kitchen, dining room, living room (where the largest TV was) and a bedroom. We had planned on cooking meals and enjoying some TV but had to move down to the second floor to finish out our week. We opened the windows the first night on Wednesday; but there were no screens on the windows so we were inundated with flys and mosquitos. Never once did Joe Lamb Jr. & Associates offer to refund any money to us. In fact they said that most people kept the AC on 75 degrees anyway and would open the windows if needed. That might have worked it it hadn't been 80 degrees that week and the screens had been on the windows up there. it ruined our trip because we had to all move down to the second and 1st floor of this house to sleep and get dressed between 2 bathrooms. It wasn't a vacation that will be memorable and we'll never use them again for a rental. This is a trip that my friends and I save for every year and I can tell you that we were so disappointed in the customer service we received from them. It was horrible! It was almost like we already got your money and now they could care less. And to top it off when we left Sunday the 28th we got a call asking us if we had cut off the power to the home. Here's what's funny. We left a DVD there so we went back to retrieve it. The maids were there already cleaning and the power was most definitely not off and we certainly would not have done that. We stayed in Beach Music the week of June 18th. We had 5 adults and 5 kids. Half of us had never stayed in the Outer Banks before. We were surprised that all the rentals (not just Joe Lamb) requested that you bring your own linens. This concerned us, and made us wonder about the quality of the bedrooms. To be safe, we not only took our sheets, but also mattress covers and blankets. I was pleasantly surprised to find the beds/mattress covers were spotless as were the pillow covers. The bedspreads looked new. The entire home was immaculate and we were surprised to find a big closet filled with beach materials for guests' use. The kitchen was the best equipped kitchen we had ever seen...and we travel at least once a year, usually renting condos. The large dedicated ice maker was a huge hit with our crowd. When it's 97 degrees it was great to know that there was always plenty of ice available drinks and the coolers. The home was tastefully decorated without having an excessive amount of "knick knacks" for parents with young kids to worry about getting knocked over. Everything worked and was in excellent condition. The two full sized refrigerators was also a great help with our large crowd. The only item missing was the large rolling recycling bin. I suspect a neighbor may have taken ours by mistake. When I called Joe Lamb with questions my call was picked up right away and I found the folks easy to talk to and deal with. It wasn't until afer we rented that I saw this review site and I am surprised by all the other negative reviews. I can only say that I'm a pretty picky renter and we generally stay in 4 star lodgings. Our stay at Beach Music left us 100% satisfied with the home. Also, our check in process was very quick. We got into town very early and they offered to call us when the house was ready. When I got there to check in there were a several cars in the parking lot, but they had plenty of staff on hand to move the people through. I was served immediately and back out with the keys within 3 mins. I would be happy to rent with them again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We have been renting at the Outer Banks for 16 years and decided to use this agency last year. I have never had any complaints in the past about any of our rentals. The problems at this house just kept piling up. I sent multiple emails and did not get any response. It started with the hot water not working, cable not working , house was filthy with dog hair and finally an exterminator had to be called in. All of these problems required us having to stay at the house waiting for these things to be fixed. Two of the companies were no shows on the day they were supposed to come so, that meant hanging in the house another day while my family enjoyed the beach. I would have at least expected a note back with a sorry it an offer to compensate our rental fees or the offer to move to another house that did not have multiple problems. I got nothing! We stayed in #364 for the 2nd year in a row. The first year, we were very happy with the 5 BR, 5 BA and private pool house. This year was another story. Every single day a new problem arose. The first night we got there, my husband and I slept on the first floor and the bed was broken. Two feet were off the bed, at 11:30pm my husband was moving the bed off the frame so we could sleep on the mattress on the floor. UGH!! The 3rd day our dishwasher BROKE. Tech came out and said it officially died on us. So our 9 member family was out a dishwasher for the REST OF THE WEEK!! And of course our grill only had one burner this year so that was down too. AND THEN.... the smoke alarm kept going off. It was in a spot where nobody could reach it. AHHHH!! Other than the house being a perfect size for us, and right on the beach with a private pool... this year I couldn't leave a good review. It was one thing after another. Every day we had problems. Just hope my sister in law gets a discount for all our troubles. read more
