Filthy, Unsafe, and Insulting Response - Do NOT Stay Here! I have stayed in many places over the years, and this was by far the most disgusting and poorly managed property I've ever experienced. This place should not be advertised at the rate I paid -- it felt like a $50-a-night roadside dump, not a $200+ vacation rental. Here's what I encountered: * Black mold in the bathroom and even on the doors, a clear health hazard. * Thick layers of dust coating the ceiling fans, window ledges, and even the walls -- clearly no one has cleaned this property in ages. * Lamps literally falling apart. * The entire room smelled musty and damp, making it feel unclean and unsafe. * Trash scattered throughout the backyard, including a dirty diaper just left behind. * To make matters worse, there was an animal scratching inside the walls at night, making it impossible to sleep. When I reported these issues to KEES Vacations management, they only offered a pathetic $30 "goodwill" refund, which is beyond insulting given the condition of this property and the amount I paid. It's clear they have zero concern for guest safety, cleanliness, or satisfaction. This property is completely unkempt and neglected. I will never stay at a KEES property again, and I strongly urge others to stay far away. There are plenty of clean, well-managed places to stay -- don't risk your vacation, your health, or your sanity here. if I could give this place negative stars I would. It's self check in like an Airbnb, which I thought was cool... until we needed literally anything at all... The room had a musty smell that *immediately* began to bother my allergies, its by the beach so I figured it was just hard to keep completely dry. You get limited resources, 3 small, sad pillows, no extra blankets, 1 towel per guest, and no place to get water (except the shower or bathroom sink and just... no.) or ice even in the entry area and hall. The bathroom door didn't latch, much less lock and even if you held it closed there was a 2in peep hole where the latch *used* to be and the wood is worn down. We're married, c'est la vie. The toilet did *not* want to flush but if you held it a while it finally would. There was no hook for the hand towel they provided so we draped it across the back of the sink- not ideal. Still, the room seemed nice enough at first.. until we tried to shower. It had a jacuzzi tub that we were excited to try and now will fuel my germaphobia and nightmares for years to come. The shower walls had someone else's hair on them, an indication that they had not been cleaned. We were sore from the drive and the tub looked clean enough, even though the walls were gross, we planned to shower after anyway. To start, it was broken, if you pressed the button the bubbles would start but as soon as you took your finger off the button, it stopped. We rigged it with our keys to get it going. When the vents started, the water began to make *actual* bubbles... we had not used soap yet. Then, to our everlasting horror, when the bubbles burst against the tub wall, a greenish brown scum spread across them. I about vomited so we quickly tried to drain the tub (we had to pry the plug out because it didn't have a handle or anything). The dispensers for both the soap and shampoo were empty. They didn't even spurt a tiny bit out so they have probably been empty for quite some time. We had checked this ahead of time, thankfully, and borrowed some from travel companions in another room (they, too, were almost out. So, we had a coffee cup with *maybe* two quarter sized squirts of soap- once I added hand soap to the mix?). We always bring soap but it was only one night and hotels always provide it, right? Once we had scrubbed the top layers of our skin off, we climbed into a creaky and *very* uncomfortable bed. The shade on the window beside the bed would not go down further than halfway and the curtains were this so they did not block the lights from the street. The AC is above the closet so there is no way to cover the light it produces which was an impressive amount (at this point, just about anything would have annoyed me, so...), this meant that there were bright lights on either side of us. The toilet periodically made loud running water noises even though no one was using it. This, too, made sleep difficult. Hands down, the *worst* hotel experience of my entire life. I created a yelp account for the sole purpose of warning all potential guests away. TLDR: Please, SPARE YOURSELF. Rent some place else. read more

When life starts to feel like the story board for a Dilbert cartoon, it's time to make a break for it. 5 hours out of DC, the Outer Banks perfectly fit the weekend bill of a road trip meets beach vacation! Most of my DC local friends are still in disbelief that I was able to find anything available at the last minute in the middle of peak tourist season on the Outer Banks. Not only did I find a place to call home, I found Nags Head Beach Inn... For under $200 a night, we got a super cute room with a queen size bed. Not one for the frilly shabby chic of oh so many bed & breakfast places the States over, our room was clean and simple with dark wood furnishings and crisp white linens. No doilies in sight, thank you very much. Ken was the utmost in hospitality during our stay. He keeps beach chairs, bicycles, umbrellas and coolers available for all the Inn guests. We thoroughly optimized on the beach chairs during the day... walking the half block to the beach for some serious sunshine relaxing. In the afternoons we would commandeer the bicycles to get to and from our dinner destination without the headache of having to take the car. Just beach cruising the whole way :) We honestly had to throw ourselves out of the Inn come Monday morning, we loved it that much. If I had every weekend free for the rest of summer, I would happily make my second summer home at this Inn! read more

The only good thing about this Inn was that it was in walking distance to the beach. The discriptions were not accurate. It was to have a hairdryer which it did not. Said it was to have daily housekeeping which it did not. Our shower curtain did not come all the way to the floor so the water went out of the shower leaving huge puddles of water in the bathroom. When I called for new towels since we didnt have daily housekeeping I was told that they did not do that but when I explained the bathroom issue they said the would see what they could do. We did get a new set of towels. Only good thing. We were to check out on Sunday by 10. At 9am we were taking stuff to our vehicle and went back to room to get the rest and were locked out of our room. When I called I was told that they would put in an emergency order. Thank God in about 20 mins I saw a lady and asked if she worked there and she said yes and she let us in. She said that the codes change around 9. Why when check out is not till 10? I STILL HAVE NOT received a call from someone to let us in and it is two days later. I would not recommend this Inn to anyone. read more

It says B&B, but it feels more like a boutique hotel. The right balance of privacy and personalized service. About 10 private rooms, each with its own bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast (included) is delicious. Free wifi. The proprietor, Ken, is very knowledgable about the area. Adults only, so you don't have to deal with other people's brats. Last minute escapes are possible -- call right before a holiday and ask if there are any cancelations. That's how I managed to be there on the Labor Day weekend of 2012 with only a few days notice. read more

I am very disappointed with the service I received while staying at this property. I think all the positive reviews come from people that stay 1-2 nights. We stayed 4 nights and never received any service to our room. The only way I got clean towels was to call an 800 number. 2 towels for a 4 night stay for 2 people. Come on! No personnel on site. Room was nice and cozy. A bit on the small side but fine if all you are going to do is sleep and shower. Just don't shower too often. You will run out of clean towels. read more

This was mine and my partner's first visit to the Outer Banks, and this place was a perfect introduction. I had planned a road trip holiday for my partner's 39th birthday, and this was the last stop. We drove from PA, to VA, to the Smoky Mountains, and after spending so much time in the car we really needed some R&R. The owner, Ken, very warmly welcomed us, escorted us to our room, gave us a quick intro, told us if we had any questions to feel free to ask, and then just let us unwind. Very welcoming and laid back. As I said, this was our first trip to the area, it was hard to get a handle on it at first. Nags Head felt kind of like California meets Hawaii, meets the Caribbean, meets the South. The B&B itself is an old school 50's style beach cottage, quiet, incredibly clean and well kept. Simple and wonderful, you really do feel well looked after, in a very unobtrusive way. We got a recommendation for a restaurant from Ken that ended up being just what we were looking for, and after some fresh local seafood, a couple of beers, and some time on the beach, it was much easier to get into the swing of things. It's a stone's throw to the beach from here, and everything is set up in a pretty self explanatory way. A large variety of simple breakfast items (including healthy ones!) are set out at 8 AM, there's an outdoor shower and foot washing station to clean off the sand, umbrellas, chairs, and bikes for guest use, and drinks, ice and some snacks set out all day. We had a couple of very nice and candid chats with Ken about the area, and really enjoyed ourselves. The rest of his family and the other guests were great as well. I'd recommend it to friends and family, and I know we'll be going back. read more

What a great find! We two were looking for a cute spot that would keep us away from some of the monstrous hotels on the water, but not be too expensive as to limit the rest of our trip. That's how we discovered Ken's awesome place. He, his wife and daughter manage the inn, and they keep a pretty tight ship. Our room was spotless, the little bites of food and drink he keeps out all day were greatly appreciated, and the proximity to the beach and awesome restaurants (Tortuga's Lie, especially), made this one of our best short beach stays. Ken's rates are very manageable, but with so few rooms, it's important to reserve a place early. We got the last room in the inn for our weekend, and even then, it was a gorgeous place. Also, keep your eyes peeled for Rolo, the pouting black lab that lives outside the inn. read more

What a rip off. Got there at check in time,there's no staff the lobby door was code locked. Was not sent a code to get in the lobby or what room number. Had to go back to the email because the check in number was on the wall In the locked lobby. Walked around found another guests from Texas who was here with family booked online. In fortunately they booking.com They take full non refundable payment up front. It took him two hours to get in now they are Stuck staying there because he paid for a week. Then find out no room service, no amenities fridge or microwave. We called for several hours 20-30 minutes only for to some kind of generic answering cm. Left VM twice left message about our situation. We left now 5:30 check in was at 4. We ate dinner found another place to stay. Next morning and still no call back. And we're billed for the room. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !! We are locals from Manteo and Virginia Beach. We are in our late 40's. So we're not some young adults! We just didn't want to drive back after going out with friends. We will spread the word !! There's no excuse for this type of service even during this pandemic. Oh and we did run into a younger couple that tried to stay there and had the same issues. They finally got an email with the code to the front door and room Number and code. It took over an hour and a half. Sorry we're both in sales and customer service professionals. This was our first time staying at a B&B and we really enjoyed it. Our room was clean and comfortable, we really liked having the jacuzzi tub. The location was great, really close to the beach. We loved that they had everything that we could think of, beach chairs, bikes, coolers, umbrellas, boogie boards... all available for our use. The owner, Kenny is a genuine and friendly guy that clearly takes pride in his job and his Inn. Breakfast was nothing out of the ordinary, muffins, toast, fruit, cereal...but us not being huge breakfast fans it really worked out for us! I highly recommend this place! read more

I read all the positive reviews before booking. However, Kees Vacation Rentals has recently taken the property over. There are none of the amenities that previous reviewers have described: no concierge, no breakfast, no chairs or bikes, no policies or wifi passwords posted, no soaps, no refreshing of linens or coffee... Like other guests, we also did not receive the email to check in and no one was there to help us. We called three numbers and could not get through to a live person. Neither could our booking company. Luckily a workman on site gave us another number. When we did speak to someone, she said there was a problem with our reservation. When I asked why they didn't contact me to correct it ahead of time, she said she didn't know. I would never stay here again and I would also never book any property that Kees manages. read more

My fiancé and I decided to try this place on a whim for Memorial Day weekend. It was great! The room was incredibly clean, and it had such a home-y feel. We were worried that since it's nearly 90 years old, the appliances would be outdated. That's not the case! Everything is up to date. My fiancé could not stop gushing about the jacuzzi tub in our bedroom. It's also within walking distance of the beach and a great ice cream shop. It would be better with a help desk and no security presence. Was kept up most of the night by loud college students arguing. That's our only complaint. read more

When I booked at Nags Head Beach Inn in July, my decision rested heavily on the perks of the place & the fact that (I thought) it was family owned & operated. After getting on site and being unpleasantly surprised, I've since learned it was bought by a company & the amenities aren't anywhere close to what one would expect, both in general & if relying on prior reviews. In summary: be aware of what you're signing up for because most reviews before ~March 2016 don't reflect current reality. Pros: - close beach access - comfy bed - clean - has character Cons: - no front desk staff, despite company listing that there's a 24 hour front desk (In fact, no one other than guests are on site) - had to call multiple phone numbers & wait on hold until I talked to a human being about getting into my room - credit card charged multiple times - earlier check out time (10am, versus 11am); late check in time with no option for earlier access (4pm) - I had to wait on the phone for 20 mins before getting my "door code" - no beach goodies to borrow (coolers, bikes, umbrellas, etc) - no ice on site, no cold water, no beverages, no snacks (has had been available prior to change in ownership) - I don't think breakfast is included anymore, either (though I can't confirm) - construction on the adjoining house - have to strip sheets and towels when you leave (for this price I expect this to be included) - listing for this property is misleading (doesn't inform people of the change in amenities, presents false impression of property management) read more
