This is your typical reasonably priced, no frills spot down by the shore. We were in the area on a Saturday night after leaving a local beer festival - there were spots at the indoor bar, but the outdoor patio seating seemed packed where the live band was playing. The happy hour chips and pico were great, and the drinks were strong and delicious, especially at the $10 happy hour rate. The burgers & sandwiches were decent - nothing to write home about, but they still tasted pretty good. Service was good during the 6-7pm timeframe that we were there, but I've heard that the service can definitely slow down a bit once it gets busier later in the evening. read more

Pleasently surprised This place used to be one to avoid. As a local, we'd occasionally tolerate it for a good band, but it was never a go-to spot. Recently, we've started going during happy hour to catch different performers, and it's been a pleasant surprise. The happy hour menu is pretty good, with reasonable prices (island prices, but that's expected), and the food has been excellent. The service was decent and very friendly which is always adds to a great experience. For those who remember this place as a tourist trap, I recommend giving it another chance. The new owners have made significant improvements. While I haven't tried the dinners or the indoor bar yet, it's back on my list for more outings. read more

Our server was lovely and let it be known this is no reflection of her (i didn't catch her name, but she had long blonde hair). We came in close to 7 and it was nearly empty. We put in an appetizer for chicken nachos, and put in our order for a house salad with no add ons and a chicken quesadilla with a side of fries immediately as we were in a bit of a rush. Our appetizer took 30 minutes, the chips were soggy and had a strange watery cheese sauce rather than a typical melted shredded cheese. the other toppings were good, fresh guac and grilled chicken. Our entrees took an hour and ten minutes, and would've taken longer if we didn't just leave cash on the table for the nachos (and tip, again not her fault) and left. This was my first time here and i'll never come back. There is absolutely no good reason a simple salad and quesadilla should take over a half hour imo. read more

we waited for an hour and a half for three appetizer, a burger and a child's buttered noodles. When the food finally made it to our table it was burnt. when I asked to speak to a manager she walked past me three different times without stopping to speak to us. When I was finally able to get her attention she had a horrible attitude. after a brief confrontation with her she yelled "get the f*** out" in front of my 2 yo granddaughter, not to mention the 5 or 6 very young kids at the table behind us. A male came up to us after her and when we told him what she said he told us to take the baby outside because he had a few choice words for us. extremely unprofessional people managing this place. Not one time did myself or anyone in my party cuss at either of them other then to tell him what his manager said. Do yourselves a favor and avoid this place like the plague. if I could give them a negative star I would. I NEVER threw food at your waitress it was sitting in the end of the table when I told her she could take it away because it was burnt. You can try to justify your extremely rude and unprofessional behavior all you want. We both know the truth and your response is just as trashy as you are. Went to see the nerds. They are awesome and never disappoint. However, the temperature inside was at least 1,000 degrees. Everyone in the place was sweating bullets. It was hard to dance without the fear of heat stroke. I'm not sure what the people captivity limit is, but I doubt the fire Marshall would have been able to make his way through the sweaty mass of humanity. I guess the $20 cover charge per head outweighs the comfort and safety of the patrons. read more

The reason I continue to go is I Love the changes the current owners have made. They work hard to make a great experience and they are both wonderful people. I have only had Great experiences at this Restaurant/Nightclub. Going at Happy Hour or at Night. The food has always been good. The staff has always been great. Joe Pops! So glad we went. Saturday, we were looking for a place that was open and remembered a post from Joe Pops about Friday date night specials. We figured if they were open Friday, they would be open on a Saturday, despite Apple Maps saying closed. We were greeted by Brennan who sat us and was also our server, he was awesome. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer to start, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. I had the White Owl Burger, sweet potato fries,and a Yuengling to wash it down. My husband had the Smash Burger with onion rings. Burgers were cooked perfectly, and very good. Thank you Joe Pops! This was our first time there and will not be our last. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. This is my first time visiting the jersey shore with my family and we were asked to leave after falsely being accused of members of our party having fake ID's. However, prior to ID's being checked, the waitress accepted them and served. We were harassed by security and treated very poorly while trying to enjoy a family vacation. I would never visit this establishment again and would encourage everyone not to go either. There is a reason why this place has 2.8 starts, don't do it!!!!! read more

The four Stars is for Lulu. She is so energetic, positive and an absolute sweetheart. The food is fine, maybe a little pricey for crab cakes, but the entire island is overpriced. There is always music and at 9:00 it turns into a club. People who are dining outdoors are invited inside and don't have to pay the cover charge. I would go back for sure. read more

Great Shore Bar! We had dinner on the patio which exceeded my expectations! The fish tacos and crab and avocado rolls were out of this world! The patio had a great vibe with live entertaimment which was the perfect way to end a day at the beach. We decided to go inside afterwards and check out the band. So glad we did! I've lived on the island and have been coming to this restaurant/bar for the last 10 years. Living in ship bottom, it feels good to have a place that has grown as an establishment within the last year. The staff was a lot better than years prior and incredible. Also, the food is just so yummy. The Sand Dollar Smashburger is a smash hit after the beach w/a frozen toasted almond. Cannot beat the happy hour, I'm just so happy. The music is always so great at the tiki bar and fun bands for the night club. Overall, this place brings back so many memories and nostalgia. I have been coming to LBI for over 40 years. I have been a regular patron of Joe Pop's for roughly 30 years. I have seen Joe Pop's change over the years. Some changes have been good and some not so good! For the past 5 years, or so, I had heard that Danielle, the past owner, was looking to sell. I had heard that a liquor store was looking to buy it. A LIQUOR STORE??? REALLY????!!!??!! So when I heard, over the winter, that Pops had sold, I held my breath, as to who bought it and what it would be. In May, we came down to our house on 22nd street, parked our car and walked over to see the "NEW POPS ". We weren't disappointed!!!! As soon as we entered, we saw improvement's that were made, new paint, new bar stools, new light fixtures, and the new owners. There are a few of them. We've had the owners come over to our table to introduce themselves to us and to ask our opinion on things like, the improvements that were made and our opinion on their new menu, which is TERRIFIC!!! Lauren, Gino & Brian have been so friendly and accommodating. They genuinely care about their customers and about making Joe Pop's the best nightclub on the Island. The new owners have done a good job to start. My salad with chicken was good crisp and flavorful. However it was 70 dollars for two of us wings and salad 3 drinks. A little overpriced. We sat outside and I forgot my sunglasses, our waitress Kate was so sweet she let me borrow a pair! The BLT with fried tomato was on point! A bunch of my friends and I (all over 45) went to see the Nerds play Wednesday night. There was a female bartender who was extremely rude. She messed up our drinks on several occasions and and gave us such an attitude when we asked her to correct our order. Or maybe it was the fact she had her Airpods in (Both ears). She called a bouncer over and shortly we were kicked out. as I was standing by the door waiting for the rest of my friends 3 male bouncers surrounded me. They asked me to leave and I explained I was not leaving without my friends. They continued to harass me as I just stood there. A female worker came up behind and grabbed my arm. I told her not to touch me. She attempted again and I swatted her hand away. once outside the bouncer told us we were kicked out for being rude to the rude to the bartender. Tonight me and my husband went to Joe Pops with my 33 year old son to enjoy a night out watching the Nerds as we have been doing for many years now. We also have at least 20 other friends and families doing the same thing. As we were all in front of the dance floor dancing and having a good time, suddenly security came over to my son, grabbed him by his shoulders and proceeded to pushing him to the exit in the back of the building. Of course being a mother I followed and questioned security as to what was going on. I was told he was elbowing people. The people around him was myself, my husband and a large group of friends and I have plenty of people who can vouch this was not the situation. The next thing I know was we were pushed out the door into a thunderstorm being drenched in rain. I am sorry but this was completely out of control. One of the security guys actually apologized for what was happening. The other was a muscle head ass hole who thought he was so powerful. He should be ashamed of himself for throwing a 61 year old women and her 33 year old son out into the rain. He took a person with long blonde hair and tagged him as a problem not knowing he was with his family. And to top it all off, I paid $60 to come to this joke. Absolutely horrible. read more

So we got down to LBI a little early as we usually do (rather be ON the island than sitting in Parkway traffic) and we needed some place to eat. Our tradition has always been to eat at Woodies, but it was PACKED today. What to do, what to do...let's try Joe Pop's! We say every year we want to check it out, so we finally did. Very, VERY happy we made the decision. Both my wife and I needed a beer desperately and they had Blue Moon (for her) and Landshark on tap. Great! Kids went with normal fare-grilled chicken wrap for my daughter and chix fingers for my son. I started with a dozen steamers in white wine and butter (OMG, GREAT start to vacation! Inplan on having clams every day I'm here) and my wife and I had the crab cake sandwich. Normally, not my first choice as it can be overpriced and too small for the price. NOT at Joe Pop's. Served with a roasted red pepper aioli on a large bun-the crab cake didn't get lost in the bread at all-thing was as big as my son's face and had very little 'binder'. Absolutely delicious. Though we never eat at the same place twice while we're here, I will absolutely add this as a go-to restaurant! Don't think our waitress was having the best day, but she was pleasant enough. Normally wouldn't give a bar/restaurant 4 stars on the first try, but this was a great lunch. read more

This was a total mixed bag of promise and inconsistency. I would actually give Joe Pop's 3 1/2 stars if I could. Pluses: Always have fun seeing the Nerds at Joe Pop's. One of the highlights of the summer. Drinks weren't too expensive during happy hour (inside bar) and the two bartenders we had during the two times we went were very friendly (and attractive I might add lol) but also knew how to make drinks. The drinks were very good. I don't usually order anything but beer, but I decided to go the cocktail route and it was worth it. Bartender at night was good. Negatives: The outside tiki bar didn't support the inside bar happy hour prices. Entertainment outside was hit or miss. I walked by one day and the entertainment sounded good. When we went the entertainment was awful. Note: we later went inside. $15 dollar cover was way too much for a cover band, but since it was The Nerds and it might be the last time I see them, it was worth it, but probably wouldn't pay it again.
