a cup of coffee on a table

What a hidden gem!! I found Joe Van Gogh on Yelp while looking for a coffee shop close to my house. I'm glad I read the reviews first, so I knew that this Joe Van Gogh was tucked away in an office plaza. Just look for their sign and their outdoor tables with blue umbrellas. I went in around 8:30 and had the place pleasantly to myself. The barista was lovely and offered suggestions and told me all about their new options. I grabbed a seat at the table and was able to work for a while. The place did fill up a bit, but mostly with regulars. Overall it was a calm place to work. No fighting for a table or internet bandwidth! I tried the rose cardamom latte as well as the gingerbread chai. Both of which I would try again! The rose cardamom is seasonal and they make the syrup in house, they also make the chai base in house. I look forward to heading in here again soon when I'm look for a tasty latte and a change of scenery.

Nitro cold brew is awful! Everything else is fine, service was good, unassuming location.

A bit about the fancy thing I was talking about - they don't have almond milk, only Macadamia milk, and they have coconut whip cream.

The perfect coffee roaster might actually exist -- and it might be Black & White Coffee Roasters in…read moredowntown Raleigh. I'm a big fan of lighter-roasted, funky, expressive coffees, and Black & White absolutely delivers. Their roasting style leans into vibrant, fruit-forward profiles, and they do it with confidence. The downtown Raleigh location is fantastic too. It's right in the middle of everything, making it a great stop for a date night, meeting up with friends, or just dropping in for a quick but exceptional cup. Their seasonal menu was small but mighty -- just a couple of options -- but the kind where every drink looks so good you wish they'd never rotate them off the menu. I started with the orange cardamom flat white, and it was perfect in every way. Beautifully presented and incredibly balanced. The espresso, milk, orange, and cardamom all complemented each other without any one flavor taking over. It was nuanced, aromatic, and just a joy to drink. For my second drink, I ordered a Rodrigo Sanchez pour-over, a co-fermented Colombian coffee labeled with passion fruit notes. It was everything I want from a pour-over -- bright, juicy, and expressive, with the kind of sweet stone fruit and berry notes that make light-roasted coffee so exciting. Black & White continues to prove why they're one of the most respected specialty roasters around. If you love adventurous coffee with huge flavor and careful execution, this place is an absolute must-visit.

Parking can be a bit tricky here as the coffee shop is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. The vibe inside this coffee shop is bright and open. I ordered a caramel latte which was excellent and the latte art was also a nice touch. If you are trying to work remotely there isn't much seating available here. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely be stopping by black and white coffee for a cup of coffee.

I've been here many times and there's always something new to try. This visit I ordered the special Lovers Latte, with raspberry flavors. It was not overly sweet but just right. Whether you're wanting a great cup of coffee at their cafe or want to brew your own at home, it doesn't get any better than this! I recently bought a bag of Esteban Zamora and it was one of the most amazing cups of coffee I've ever brewed. Imagine a great cup of coffee with hints of cinnamon and apple pie but without being sweet and beautifully enhancing that warm, roasted goodness. I love the downtown Raleigh location too. They have a great courtyard patio to hang out and enjoy a cup of coffee when the weather is nice.

Great prices for a nice mimosa or beer to enjoy while shopping and you get to keep the cute cup. The staff were all extremely helpful and guided me through their greenhouse helping me find things that suited my needs. They had a private party in a room off to the side that is semi-private. I could see a bit and it was very cute and a nice size for hosting. There were not many plants outside on the front and the greenhouse was nicely stocked but not full.
