Service is excellent! They are very friendly. Food is fresh and tasty. You can't miss eating here. Fish tacos are highly recommended as well as the breakfast burrito. My only complaint is their "spicy" is not hot at all. But that's a personal preference I suppose. Great restaurant. read more

I am very pleased with Joels. I always have Carne asada taco and sometimes a taco salad. The tacos are messy but good. They also have toreso burritos. The summertime they have a nice deck with shade umbrellas. They also have a coffee bar if your an early bird. The prices are well placed also. The hours could be a bit longer in the day but o well. read more

Joel's is a delightful gem we found in Sandpoint. The employees, including the chef, are friendly, energetic and helpful. The cafe is clean and has a lovely patio area. I had the bacon, egg and potato burrito which was delicious. The eggs were fluffy and light. Even with the bacon inside, it was not greasy. The mixture of flavors was very satisfying. There was a bit of a wait for the meal but you will not go away hungry. read more

Tried to like this place. Twice. Had a bad experience a couple months ago and decided to try it again today for lunch. The lady at the counter told us it would be 20 minutes wait, so we said okay no problem we'll go across to the Ace Hardware and look around. But we came back and ended up waiting closer to 35 minutes ( I kid you not) to get our food. That is a ridiculous wait for a place you go up to the counter and order your food to go. I order a carnitas Torta and it was soggy, meaning the bread was actually soggy and way around theouter edges of the whole sandwich. We ordered the " rolled tacos" which are just tiny deep fried taquitos with a MORSEL of a chicken scrap inside. Seriously its just a deep fried tortilla, nothing "taco" about it. Hubby had a quesadilla that had no flavor(not cheese, not chicken, not even tortilla flavor!) and im pretty sure it was fried in a deep fryer. We have lived in the southwest for years and enjoyed great Mexican food, but this is not it, not even as a fast food option. Waste of $21. P. S. If you're going to make customers wait 35mins, for goodness sakes offer free chips and salsa, or soda, or SOMETHING. read more

Great place all around, outstanding menu, awesome prices, unbeatable service. This is a place you must eat it if your in sandpoint, Idaho. Every item on the menu is phenomenal. Absolutely Turned off By the Older, Woman taking our order. She was Extremely-Extremely Rude, Pushy & Downright Low Class! We still went ahead with our order as did not want to push her attitude any further. Little does she know, I know her family quite well. We patiently waited for 20-25 minutes for a simple order; finally checking to see what was going on & how much longer to expect. SHE EXPLODED! WHEW!! We were fine with waiting & did not give in- & argue with her as she was attempting to provoke us. She seemed to get upset at our smiles with her erratic behavior & then said to 2 other staff (& the cook, who was working hard to get the orders done.) to cancel our orders & "Get OUT" I have NEVER in my life been told to leave an establishment... She handed our money back & even kept 5$. Coming from a larger city myself & having Hispanic family I was blown away. I have heard nothing but great things as far as the food goes & we were excited to try it as well. Indeed, I will never go back; and may report her further. She was also rolling her eyes & trying to draw her other customers into this poor behavior. They all seemed as Blown Away as we were! read more

I always stop at Joel's when I'm in Sandpoint for fish tacos. I would branch out and try something else, but the fish tacos are soooo good.

This is the best non-Mex Mex I've had in quite a while. Sort of like vaguely-Mexican comfort food. Yum.

The carne tacos were good, the carne burrito was average. Service was good. They only take cash or check so be prepared.

We had lunch on Saturday. It was great. Food was hot and served promptly. I had the Colorado Chimi which I enjoyed very much. My wife had a fish taco and a carnitas taco. Both were very good. Food was great, staff was great and very friendly. This place is hopping at lunch time. Good to see that. The chicken chimi was fantastic, not filled with beans and rice like other places, but was stuffed with all chicken, the tortilla was deep fried perfectly. I have loved Joels for a while but I went to order a blackened chicken burrito and asked that they cut up the chicken. They told me they didn't have TIME for that. How ridiculous is that? Joels has killer food but I cant believe they would tell a paying customer they don't have time to cut up a chicken breast before they put it in a burrito. Moved back from Texas and missed the TEX-MEX, until Now! I found Joel's and They are legit! And they have breakfast tacos and burritos that I miss from the Lonestar state. The food there is mouth watering and your mouth explodes in flavor! Everything is wonderful, my goto is the " Blacken Chicken " and Boom does it rock your month in flavor. For breakfast you got to try the " Spicy Potato Egg and Bacon " burrito, I was suggested on both of these and did it deliver! The Owners and staff are Top of The Game and friendly in all get out! Joel's has the most delicious carne asada, fish, and breakfast burritos!!! My husband and I visited Sandpoint for a two week vacation from Seattle and ate there four times. The casual atmosphere, great service, and delicious flavors easily became our favorite place in Sandpoint. My husband ordered the fish burrito twice and I had the carne asada burrito twice - so good we had to come back for more. I also recommend the potato, bacon, and egg breakfast burrito. Having lived 5 years in San Antonio, I've enjoyed great Mexican food, and hate the usual "Tex-Mex" that all tastes the same. Joel's is awesome! The best breakfast burrito I have ever eaten (Rebecca, eggs ordered over easy). The fish tacos are excellent. Salsas all made on site. Only open for BFast and Lunch. Often a line, but worthwhile.
