I went to have a small star chip repaired in my windshield. The business was friendly, and scheduled me in promptly, but they did a less than satisfactory job. I realize that some damage can still be visible, after a windshield repair. I wasn't expecting perfection. But the quality of the work was so poor that there was still a significant pit mark in my windshield after the repair. They offered to sell me a new windshield. I took my vehicle elsewhere, and had the job done over. The pit mark was repaired, and the surface of my windshield is now smooth. read more

Since i seem to be hexed with auto glass accidents, i feel well-qualified to recommend Joe's Auto Glass in Fortuna. A couple of years ago we had three rocks-in-windshield problems within two weeks. By calling around, we quickly found that Joe's offered the best prices for windshields. His operation is out of a tiny little no-frills garage off Riverwalk Drive in Fortuna, but you know that you're paying for auto glass service at a rock-bottom price, not for a fancy waiting room. The work was always fast and solid, and we never had a complaint or return trip on any job. Now, last week my Toyota Corolla passenger-side front window was smashed by thieves. I thought for sure it would be at least $400, as it involved taking apart the door and attaching the movement mechanism. Joe (or whoever the main dude is) asked on the phone, "How does $175 sound?" I gulped and said, "Does that include the labor?" "Yes," he said, "and i can even come to your place to do the job." Well! I didn't need that to happen... i got down to Fortuna and enjoyed 45 minutes' reading time on the beautiful nearby bicycle/ped path on the Eel River bank. I don't make many recommendations but this is one I would happily suggest to anybody needing new glass in their vehicle. Mike was professional and took care of my truck as if it were his own.
