Made an appointment 3 weeks ahead. Showed up the day of (friday) and they tell me they dont have enough workers and will need to keep my car over the weekend. I needed my car for the weekend so we arranged a sunday night dropoff instead and i rented a car for monday to use. On the key drop envelope it asks the services you want and a maximum price you are willing to pay. I got an estimate a couple months prior and saved up for the items i needed. The estimates were about $900. On the envelope i made sure to write "call me if its over $1000" because i understand inflations been crazy. i get off work and no one calls me so i give them a call and they say the price is $2100 Plus a 3% credit card fee. They obviously ignored my message on the envelope even though they require you to fill out the envelope for the key drop. I had to argue them down and still ended up paying $1600. I thought they were nice dudes and maybe it was a misunderstanding but still felt shady and i overpaid on things i would have just did myself over the weekend if i new their real prices. My son was looking at a truck and since we weren't from the area we weren't familiar with any automotive shops to have it inspected before purchasing. We couldn't have come across a better shop. We were told to swing by and a technician would be able to spend 10 mins on it since we didn't have an appointment. (They were very busy ) We took the truck in and came across the nicest folks. We had 2 mechanics checking over the truck , one being the owner "Bob". He and my son took the truck for a test drive, while the other mechanic printed out just a few minor things to be aware of for the future. If you are looking for an honest mechanic... Look no further. I have tried about four area mechanics and have always been disappointed. I had an appointment at Joe's to get my head gasket replaced on a car I was hoping to fix and then sell and they put me on the schedule but when they heard that I was going to sell it they had suggested that I sell it as is and thought that I could make just as much without having to go through the expense of fixing it. They spent an hour with me costing out the entire job so that they could give me a hard estimate on what I would be looking at and when I compared it to what I could sell the vehicle for, they were right and it would basically be a break even. There are several aspects to operating a reliable auto repair business. One is for the mechanics to listen to what the customer is saying about how his/her vehicle runs or doesn't run. Second, the mechanic needs to rely on his intuition as to the diagnosis of the non-functioning vehicle. Regardless of the technical equipment that is available today, a discerning ear can many times (along with experience of many years) analyze the fault. I have worked on vehicles myself for many years but lacking the necessary tools and equipment I sought out good automotive repair services and in the Poulsbo/Kingston area, I have found that Joe's Automotive on Bond Road definitely has all the qualifications for my repair needs. I was stranded for a couple of hours in the middle of the night and was very distraught. My car had overheated and then died. The tow truck had towed my car to Joe's Automotive for an after hour drop off. Kirk from Joe's had been in touch with me and contacted per instructions of my note. He was in constant contact with me to inform of any updates to my car. I live on the other side of Kingston. We arranged for me to be be picked up to get my car. Kirk waited for me on the other side of Kingston Ferry and we drove over to Joe's. Before sending me off, he gives me a few upkeep suggestions with checking fluids as my car is an older model. Joe and his crew are great!!! Very helpful and will tell you exactly what is wrong, how it should be fixed and what it will cost! They have taken care of minor problems (stuck ignition key) right on the spot and are always quick with their service. Also paid for a determination that, yes, like I told them, my rotors needed turning and I needed new pads. Some lawyers have a minimum 15-minute charge; Joe's apparently bills for a minimum of 30 minutes, at $47.50, for anything.
