Had an appointment for 10am. Parked my car at 9:59am and walked with my family around the corner to go in. Completely closed. Lights off, both doors were dead bolted. Checked my phone to make sure I had the right day and time. Saw that they were supposed to be open at 9:30am. Figured they might have different holiday hours or something. Walk back to my car at nearly 10:01am and drove away Get a call nearly 30 minutes later and was told that I WAS LATE to my appointment. I said you were closed and the guy insisted several times that he was there despite me telling him I have video footage proving that I was there and he wasn't. They charge me for the haircut anyway. On my way home today, I decided to call Joe's to see if I could get a haircut. Right from the start, the woman who answered the phone seemed confused about my request. She kept putting me on hold, asking someone for help, and when she returned, her responses were just nonsensical. Eventually, I was told I could come in in about an hour. Since I've been there before and found their prices outrageous, I asked about the cost of a high and tight. The woman on the line didn't even know what that was. After I explained that I wanted a high and tight because I'm in the military, she consulted someone and then returned to tell me it would be $42. I was absolutely shocked. I understand it's a small-town barbershop, but $42 for a high and tight feels like a total rip-off. I've been to Joe's a few times over the past decade and have never been satisfied, but today was definitely the last straw for me. read more

I got one haircut there a few weeks ago then their system automatically booked me for a second appointment that I never made and it sent me a text on the day of the appointment saying that if I didn't cancel it 24 hours before the service I would be billed for the service. I got the text just a few hours before this so-called appointment. I called the shop and they canceled the appointment, but they didn't explain how it happened. Looks really sketchy to me. I'm not planning on going back. The lady who cut my hair was really nice, but all I had was a buzz cut and I think it was overpriced. read more

After asking around, I quickly realized that Joe's was one of the only places that would cut kids hair around me. I was ecstatic to know that we could make an appointment in a timely fashion. We even asked to push it back 15 mins in fear of being late, which they were fine with. My nephew's haircut looks awesome and the service was great. The woman who cut his hair gave him and my niece who wasn't even getting a haircut a lollipop! He had a really good time there & left with a super cute haircut and style for family pictures tomorrow. Joe's is a cool atmosphere however it is overpriced and the cut doesn't even justify the money. There are much better barber shops in the area that give much better cuts at a much better price which include a straight razor finish and a more premium clean up after the cut. I personally enjoy going to Robbie B's and I think he is the best barber in the Colchester area. read more

My first time at Joe's. Made the appointment for 1pm. Great experience. Just a short wait. I'm 60ish and just wanted a traditional haircut. Estephan didn't just cut my hair, he crafted it. He used his clippers to give me a smooth looking cut. He was methodical and meticulous. Other barbers would use their clippers to zip, zip, zip, done and would always leave the left side fluff out. Estephan finished with his clippers, took out the thinning shears and balanced it. The shop itself is quintessential barber with brick walls and great ambience. But that's not why I'll be going back. read more

The haircut was a 3. Just a regular straight forward mostly clippers haircut-which he actually didn't blend it the way I asked but it wasn't horrible. What was outrageous was the cost-for a 5 minute clipper cut that I've been paying $10-12 for years cost $21. That's why it's a 2 star place that I'm certain I'd never return to. In a way its my fault as I didn't ask the price but after going to some many different barbers over the years I never expected a $21 haircut especially a simple blend. My son and I left before his haircut after listening to 20 minutes of climate change denying talk on the YouTube station playing in the waiting area. One of customers was an environmental science major. He asked about the the station. The owner(!?) then walked over, and thought he was going to change it, but he then put on a FLAT EARTH documentary!! We walked. I don't do businesses that purposefully set out to make their customers uncomfortable. Save that nut bar garbage for your personal viewing and put on some elevator music or something. read more

Joe's Main Street Barber Shop is hands down the BEST barber shop in all of Connecticut! He can go up against just about any barber anywhere! He is a master barber which is quite an amazing accomplishment as there are not many around! His son is an amazing barber and who does amazing fades! |You will NEVER walk out with a bad haircut from either one of them! They TAKE THEIR TIME with every single client which is unheard of! It is beyond worth the $26 dollars PLUS tip you spend on your hair! People spend more than that on a drink at the bar that lasts 2 minutes!!! You look like you came out of Manhattan when they are done! Very professional and you can see the difference between having a mediocre cut to an amazing cut! THEY ARE WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY YOU SPEND! I would never take my son anywhere else! He now goes with his friends! We have been life long customers. Sometimes you must wait.
