Hired Joe's Concrete to replace a section of concrete with something thicker and reinforced. Pricing was very reasonable. Good communication, he showed up early and got it all done in one day. I didn't realize how out of level the existing slab was but he was able to accommodate and the section he poured was perfectly level. I did however end up renting a scarifier to bring down some parts 3/4" and grinding that smooth. In hindsight, I should have had Joe and his crew initially work it down like that from the start. But I guess in the moment it was too rushed to figure out the ideal compromise. The concrete delivery truck did come up short. He had to go and get bags to hand mix. That wasn't ideal since I was going off a spec sheet that said no hand mix. Overall it was an enjoyable little project and Joe and his crew did an excellent job. This is a long overdue review for Joseph and his father Joe, a great dynamic duo in concrete works. I mainly dealt with Joseph from the beginning to end, but Joe will come our during the concrete pour. We wanted Ashler Slate stamped concrete for our driveway extension and front entrance. Joseph gave us a very competitive price with detail quotes, and was very responsive with our questions. The day of the pour was on scheduled and his team worked fairly quick to get things done. Minus a star for little hiccups with moving the irrigation system. Joe, the father, is full of experience and integrity. I totally trust him to get things done. Overall, I thought Joe's Concrete did a really good job and their quote was reasonable. They were fast as the crew was able to remove the dirt and pour concrete that same day. We needed a contractor to build a concrete slab foundation for our in-law unit, so we used Yelp to source the father and son team. Joe, the father, and his son, Joseph, were really easy to work with and they were one of the hardest working contractors I've ever work with. They came in on weekends, stayed late and delivered a concrete slab that easily passed inspection. Joe even came after the job was done to grind down a few areas that were slightly uneven. I found Joe's through a quick google search. It's a small business, just him and his son, Joseph, and they do all the labor. He is pretty responsive to both e-mail/calls/texts. I asked for a quote, and Joseph performed one without me needing to be home. We got an estimate, and I gave the green light a week later. They prepared the area the next day, and then poured the day after. Joe is a master finisher and you can tell he has a lot of concrete experience by watching him. He was very accommodating, and responded to any concerns I had during the pour, and even made some changes free of charge. In the end, we got a good product for a reasonable price. Many of the larger companies were telling me that my job was too small and they did not return my call or they were too busy. Joe returned my call immediately and came when they said they would, and gave me a fair estimate. Joe and son are very knowledgable in the areas of electrical and plumbing! They don't profess to be experts , but they will put their best feet forward for the customer if you are in a bind. My pool man is absolutely useless, he farms out all his equipment repairs and there been multiple screw ups in getting the right people. I found joe, he offered to fix the pipes, and installed new pool lights for me when the pool man couldn't and didn't know how to do it. They found the problem and fixed what an electrician would have charged me $$$$$$. These are the guys to get for your job.... If they find a problem and if they are capable they will do it! I had an existing concrete patio and walkway that were poorly done, with numerous cracks and bad footings for three posts that support a second floor deck above. When I noticed termite damage on one of the posts I decided it was time to remove and replace the patio and the posts. I found Joe online and contacted him for a quote. He came out and viewed the job and provided a quote via email that day. Joe was the low bidder when comparing several quotes, so I gave him the green light and he started the job several weeks later after (he couldn't start sooner due to a planned vacation). He started on a Monday, arriving prompt and early, breaking up and removing the old concrete (to a staging area on my property), installed temporary supports for the deck above, removed the three old posts and poured footings for the new posts. He left around noon to attend another job. The next day a crew came by and removed the broken up concrete, and Joe and his son arrived around 7:30 AM. He started by installing the three wood deck supports, since the footings he poured the day before had setup and were ready. He attached two 4x4s on either end of the deck and a 4x6 in the middle. Since there was termite activity Joe applied a copper based spray to the ends of the supports, and where he drilled holes in the wood for the bolts that anchor everything in place. He explained that this is a termite barrier that will keep them from attacking the ends of the wood. The next day I had the termite guys out to treat the horizontal beam that these three vertical support mate to, and they said 'this is done right'. Now I had no idea of the product and it wasn't something we discussed before doing the work; Joe took it upon himself to do the job right. They then leveled the area and installed rebar and were ready to go at noon when the concrete arrived. It took around 5 hours to pour and finish the concrete, and when the concrete had set, remove the footings and clean up the area. They left that night with the job complete. The concrete looks great! I would recommend Joe and his son Joseph to anyone looking to have some concrete work done. There was one thing that they probably should have done, and this is to put some plastic over the sliding glass door that opens onto the patio. During the pour we did get some splash on it, not of the concrete but some diluted water/concrete mix that was used during the finish work I believe. Joe said it would come off with water, which it did, so there's nothing permanent about it. read more
