After a long weekend of baseball we decided to go hit Joe's. Well next time we might have to try another place. We were seated quickly, place was clean and our server took our drink order. This is where things derailed. We ordered drinks, the pitcher of margaritas was very weak. So we had to order shots to put in it. Waitress had to return to the table 2x to ask what type of tequila we ordered. When asked about certain dishes on the menu, she admitted she had not eaten much of the food from the menu. So she was no help when we had questions. Food order came in and wasn't correct. Some orders had been forgotten. Placed after most the table had received their food. What food was correct, tasted good. Waitress just had a lack of knowledge and wasn't very good. read more

Food wasn't very good. Very bland and tastes like leftovers you warmed up. After ordering, a girl came over to our table gave us a piece of paper to read asking for donations or buy some cookies to help with her fundraiser. She didn't even say "hi" or smiled. Didn't say a word and expected us to donate. When going out to eat, I didn't expect to be hit up for donations at the table. She apparently knows the staff because after she left our table, she went to hang out at the bar with the staff. Never going back. read more

We ordered two different white wines. Mine was to be sweet however it was dry and very rough. I advised the waiter. He went to the kitchen and returned and advised he couldn't give me a different wine so I was stuck with the bad wine. Then I had the seafood combination dish It had only 4 shrimp and muscles and no scallops, as the dish was described on the menu.. My partner ordered shrimp amor, and she enjoyed it. The ambience was nice, although, the spotlights over the table could be dimmed as it was evening. The waiter seemed very inexperienced, and was in attentive. I like it. Taco Tuesday is what got me coming here regularly. I just get crunchy beef tacos salsa, queso with ground beef and the "Hulk" Sauce. My husband loves their carnita taco's. Mostly I order to go since COVID. We used to go fairly regularly on Taco Tuesday pre-COVID Their taco's remind me of Sr Bob's taco's from when I was a kid here in Ft Smith. This is the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten in my life. I know why they call it a cantina, everything comes from a can. Very bland flavors. Rice was smothered with cumin. Ordered the fajita tacos, 2 chicken tacos. Came out with 1 steak and 1 chicken. Waitress offered to bring 2 new chicken tacos. Came out with 2 chicken tacos with onions that were still on the stem, a peel in the taco from the onion and uncooked peppers. Very unappetizing. We tried this place for the first time. I ordered the Mexican pizza. It wasn't what I thought. Very stingy on the ground beef and way too much cheese. We are becoming increasingly disappointed in eating out around here. The wait staff brings the food out, checks on us a few seconds later, then disappears for a long time. Been a customer of Joes for a many of years Evan when it was Coco's located in the phoenix village mall. Managers/owners Rick and Steve were very friendly as well as the employees. Many of the employees continued to work when it moved to their current location. Always felt a little like Cheers where everyone knew your name. Things changed upon my last visit. Service was terrible. Ordered a beer and waited when waitress returned with everyone ones drinks she forgot mine and said I'll be right back with your beer. Waited 10 minutes and waitress did not return so I went to the bar and tried to explain my situation and was told to step away from the bar because her customers were only two individuals sitting at the bar. Tried once again to express my concern. She ignored me so I decided that by sitting at the bar I could get served. Wrong the manager whom I've known for years came and told me that she was not going to tolerate me talking to her employee "like that". I never once used dirty language or said anything inappropriate. Mostly upset with the managers way of speaking to me. I will not be going back. read more

I was here for dinner with some co-workers. I'm trying to eat relatively healthy, so I skipped the 10 later dip that the table ordered, but it got raving reviews from the table. I ordered a grilled chicken breast with rice, vegi's, and black beans. I asked that they used a little oil/butter as possible. But the veggie's came out soaked in oil. And the chicken had melted cheddar/shredded cheese, which wasn't on the menu - queso fresco was listed. I scraped that off as much as could. But I could also tell the chicken was grilled with oil. It still lacked flavor. The food overall was ok and the prices are very reasonable. I would prefer to rate 3.5 stars since the service was really good. read more

This a pretty average Americanized Mexican restaurant in every way. If you have never been to a really good Mexican restaurant, then Joe's Grill and Cantina will be just fine. The chips, salsa, and guacamole are bland. The ground beef tacos could have been imported from Taco Bell. They were practically identical. The chicken enchiladas are mostly cheese with only a little bit of chicken sitting in one end of the enchilada. The "Mexican" rice has the texture and flavor of an Uncle Ben's packet from the grocery store, and the beans seem like they came from a can. The radio is playing American top 40, and the television is showing ESPN. This is fine, but it doesn't feel like a Mexican restaurant when you're listening to Imagine Dragons while the Washington wizards are playing the Boston Celtics. On the positive side, The restaurant is clean and the wait staff is friendly. My waiter aimed to please, but he can't do anything about average food. Unfortunately, there just isn't anything at Joe's to distinguish it from any other restaurant. read more

I'm giving this place a solid 4. It's nothing terribly special, but it's good and satisfying. It reminds me of a Chevy's or On the Border, but in a more personal, non-corporate way. First, this isn't Mexican Mexican, but more of an American Mexican. My abuela isn't doing the cooking here, so let's get past the "unauthentic" pretense. We went on a Friday evening, and it was steady but we were seated quickly. Delicious, fresh (still shiny from the oil) chips arrived along with tasty salsa (which had carrots in it? Ok.) We ordered some of the $2 margaritas (which may not even have had tequila in them, but they sure felt festive!) and a few of the fajitas specials (7.99 for steak, 6.99 for chicken.) I really enjoyed the chicken. I am way picky about steak, but those were tasty and tender too. (My only "preference" would be that the beef be sliced a bit thinner. It's not a deal breaker though.) Sides were plentiful, the standard rice and beans were just fine, but the "Mexican corn" tasted just like canned. It wasn't bad, just not particularly good. We finished off with the sopapillas which were DELICIOUS. Service was excellent! If I lived here, it would probably be a regular spot. read more
