The guitar service technician department, however, is not recommended. If you want a large chain type of non-personalized guitar setup with no individualized attention, then it is adequate. But if you're looking for the special care that your instrument deserves, it is not going to happen here, despite what you may read on the website. The owner may have the aptitude and experience, but he is not the one performing the routine work, and there is a disconnect with his oversight as well. Good for shopping, not for service.

That all changed today. First time in this location, and I'm kicking myself for not stopping here sooner. I've driven past this particular store hundreds of times, but never stopped until today. First observation: this particular store has one of the better layouts I have seen as far as Guitar Center stores go. The space is massive, and everything is easy to find. The store has ample staff, all of whom are eager to help. Despite a large crowd on a busy Saturday, lines were moved quickly and customers were all attended to. Staff was incredibly friendly and struck up conversation about making music. From a drummer's perspective, this place was a jackpot. Nearly half the store was drums. I was thrilled to find a massive snare drum wall, including vintage snares. Cymbal room selection was impressive. Lots of new and second-hand drum kits to see. E-drum selection was massive and had something for everyone's budget. Where the store truly shined was with their ample parts, accessories, and tools for drummers. This is lacking in many other locations. Picked up some things I needed and fair prices (LESS than Amazon!). The staff, again, were pleasant and kind. That makes a huge difference in and of itself. Store was clean and well-organized. This is my new store for buying in-person. Period.

Mike, the owner said that I had to…read morechange the strings as part of the adjustment, the cost plus strings would be around $70, and it would be ready by the end of Tuesday. End of Tuesday - no call. End of Wednesday - no call. Finally, Thursday morning, I call them to ask about my guitar, and they said it was ready. If it was ready, why no call? Anyway, I go to the store to get my guitar. I see that they did not adjust the guitar like I requested. The store clerk put Mike on the phone. He tells me first that the guitar technician found that there was more work to be done, and that I should leave my guitar and that they had to ship it off to fix it and so on...So why did you tell me that the guitar was ready? Then he tried to tell me that I still had to pay for services because they did a set up and changed the strings. I told him, in other words, you did everything except what I asked you to do. He then tried to go on saying, "I'm 67 years old. I've fixed guitars for bands all over New Jersey..." And yet you couldn't (or wouldn't) fix mine. In the end, I did not pay for services that I did not receive, and I took my guitar elsewhere that fixed my guitar in one day...WITHOUT changing the strings. Why are people so desperate to try to swindle other people out of their money??? *Oh, and before Mike or anyone else tries to debunk this review, I HAVE THE VIDEOS TO PROVE IT!*

One of them had an impossibly high action and I wasn't sure he'd be able to shave the saddle down enough. But he did an excellent job on both and they play beautifully. They were intonated perfectly and without and fret buzz. Price was good--better than what a setup would have cost at Sweetwater, for example, and I liked the fact he's local and can do the setup once I receive the guitar since the shipment process itself can alter how a guitar is set up. Also, as a side note, he also makes candles on the side and will give you a sample.
