I've used Joe's for verifying that a computer on my Dodge Caravan had gone out. I explained what I had done to troubleshoot my y vehicle and he agreed I'd done the proper steps. The only culprits left to diagnose were the wiring harness and computer. He saved me from having to mess around with the harness. We're visiting the Edinburg area this summer when our air conditioner stopped working it's 100 degrees so not having it working is not really a good thing. Made an appointment with Joe's Master Service Center to see what the problem is. Needless to say the repair of the air conditioner would be more than the car is worth. I've been coming to Joe's Master Service Center for close to 20 years for vehicle inspections, but they offer so much more than that. Located three blocks north of the Hidalgo County Courthouse on the corner of Closner and W. Peter Street, they offer a wide array of vehicle repair and maintenance services: shocks, oil change, transmission, brakes, A/C, tires, alignments, battery service, fuel injection, to name a few. If you cannot tell by the trailers and trucks parked here, they also are a U-Haul rental dealer. Whether it's Joe himself, or his assistant at the counter, I've always been provided friendly, efficient, and professional customer service. Joe is the real deal, no Botox, just good honest work for a decent price. I have always arrived as a walk-in, and they have always attended to my car promptly. If there is a line, they let me know approximately how long the wait will be, and it was never long. The prices posted on the signs for the various services appear to be competitive, if not better than most. That's probably why they have a sign posted stating that there is a small convenience charge (to re-coup their costs) if you are paying with a credit card. Some reviewers have complained about that, but the sign is in plain sight; other places will simply charge you more up front. There is a bench where you can wait inside and enjoy the biker garage / Elvis theme. There is also a TV. But be aware there is no air conditioning in the waiting room / lobby, the only reason I'm giving them four stars rather than five. But let's get real... if you're a tender soul that melts when temperatures are over 80, you probably should not live in the RGV! Seriously, with the door open and the fan going, even in Summer it's not bad. Went to Joes to return a Uhaul. 1st if all I don't know if Edinburg is a bad area or his shop is in a bad area or what? But the owner of the shop feels like he has to show off his Gun by carrying it out in the open in a gun holster. I waited inside a run down small space. Owner, Joe, was outside talking to what appeared to be one of his buddies by the street. There was no one else to help me as there were only 2 mechanics working and working on vehicles. Then finally he walked in and just said to me, "YES sir?" I said, I'm returning a truck". He said, you have the paperwork?" I said no it's paperless. He said" well some are paperless" and just walked out to get a reading. Then walked back in and gave me a receipt paper. He said ... there you go. I walked out and left. Super bad service and the guy thinks he the king of mechanic shops. It looked like an old 80's shop with no organization what so ever. I would not go there again for drop off or rentals much less for car repairs. read more

I got in my car before work, and it wouldn't start. I tried to jump it, but it didn't help. I called a towing company (JC's Wrecker), and we were on our way to a franchised auto care center when the guy recommended Joe's. They were able to see me immediately and found the problem within 5 minutes. Fixing it took about an hour, and I left for work. Perhaps not very quick, but it was easy and painless. This place really stinks! The owner has like ten workers walking around waiting for something to do. When you have your vehicle serviced there, you had better be prepared to help pay all their salaries. I once got a tuneup on a 6 cylinder truck and it cost me $222.22!!! I argued the price while standing under the price board which listed 6 cylinder tuneups at $49.95. The owner said my truck needed a major tuneup and that is why it cost so much. Don't go here if you expect good service at a reasonable price. read more

omg!, this place is really bad i feel sorry for the people who are getting ripped off. SUPER expensive!! service is bad they forgot to put screws back on and lost some in the process. My estimate was $1,300. I have a 2004 ford focus getting a leak on air conditioner fixed along with minor repair. I ended up fixing it for less than $300, somewhere else of course. read more

Would not recommend this shop. Went to get an inspection done to get my registration and the attendent took my car, I thought he knew how to drive an electric car, well turned out he didnt, had to call me in to see how to park it and turn it off, to make things worse when I got to my home town which I live an hour in a half away and went to go get my registration sticker the shop had put a digit of my license plate wrong and they wouldn't give it to me, I then proceeded to call the shop and the owner Joe was very rude about it and said we had to take the car back to confirm the plates, when the registration office said they could just fix it and fax it over, needless to say we had to wait a week before going back to the valley on my day off and when we got to the shop, I thought they would just check the plate and change it in the computer, however the owner Joe said all my family and my daughter which was sleeping in her car seat needed to get off to "fix the problem" they needed to put the car IN THE SHOP to fix the computer error they had made, my wife was a bit upset so she asked why we needed to get off? Joe was very rude in responding to her and very demanding, we stayed and I didn't tell him anything because we didn't want to go thru the hassle of getting another inspection, once again the other attendant that took the car in the shop had to call me to put it in park. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. If you ever hear Joe's Master remember, Bad customer service that all you need to know. read more
