Today I just picked up some windshield washer fluid. On my past visits as well as today I was unimpressed with the customer service. It's functional, but not friendly nor proactive. They appear to be competent, just unenthusiastic. I am usually ignored till I get to the counter. I realize it's an auto parts store and I don't require a warm hug at the door nor to be offered tea and crumpets (whatever crumpets are). But even Stripes has their employees acknowledge the customers as they enter. They've always either had what I needed or could order it for me. This is true for most auto parts stores. So it usually comes down to who has the best price and quality. Today I found what I needed at a reasonable price. But I was reminded why I usually go to one of the competitors. "Oh, Really", I was. (Pun intended). Perhaps it's my Irish roots.

I was told the tire sensor had malfunctioned and needed replacement, but because the technician had a mandatory meeting, it would take about an hour and a half afterward. At 1:20 p.m., I got a call saying a tire needed replacing, and we agreed. We arrived around 3:30 p.m., expecting my car to be ready, only to find out the tire hadn't arrived from Weslaco--something I hadn't been told. We asked not to replace it since it wasn't there, but five minutes later, the tire suddenly arrived. We decided to go ahead with the replacement, yet I didn't leave until 4:30 p.m. because it took the technician an hour to replace the tire and fix the sensor.

I asked them if they repair battery-powered lawn mowers, and they told me, "YES" we do. They told me to give them a week because they had too many repairs ahead of mine, and I said fine. I called a week later to see how the repairs were going. They said no, it was not ready because the tech was out for the week. They told me to come back next week. So I did go the following week, and they said the electrical tech was still out. I went to pick up my EGO on August 28. The assistant told me the lawn mower was ready and loaded it on my truck. I was very surprised to see my mower very dirty. The mower was dusty and full of grass clippings. He said they tested the mower and it was running well with no issues. I brought it home, cleaned it, and removed the caked-up grass clippings from under the mower. You would think they had the courtesy to clean it before giving it to me. I had also asked them to sharpen the blade, but they did not. I inserted a battery to test it at home, and it was not working as it should. They don't seem to be trying to find the problem on my mower. I'm very disappointed.

They also check all my lights (Turn signals, front lights, and break lights) to be sure none have burned out, and alert me if I need to get them replaced. Recently, during an oil change, they noticed what appeared to be an oil leak and shared a picture with me of the under carriage of my car. They do not perform oil leak repairs, but suggested an auto repair shop to go to. I visited the auto repair, they carefully performed diagnostics and did the work needed once I agreed to their quote.
