Amazing service first of all. They want above and beyond to make sure that I was more than satisfied. The young man even brought the order out me because it was ready earlier than expected. The pizza is huge as you can tell by my picture. I bought it to feed the staff at the hospital that I was training at and it was more than enough for the amount of people that I had. I ordered the lasagna for myself and it is delicious the sauce was freshly made and everything tasted amazing. The only thing Iwould have changed was the cheese would have been a little bit more Brown but the crust was cooked to perfection. It was crispy, it wasn't doughy, and it had a great flavor. the only reason it's not a five-star is because I was born and raised in Chicago and I have high, high standards for pizza. We ordered food from here for pick up and left our name and number with the order because we have a newborn baby girl and her grandma was visiting. When my husband drove and went to pick up they said they had no order from us when I literally have their number in my call log and gave them our information. Have you ever noticed how the size of large pizza has shrunk. I mean the size of a Pizza Hut large today, is not much bigger then a small was 20 years ago. Well, that is not the case at Joe's. Joe's makes a large stuffed pizza that is so big, that most people cannot finish one piece. I once fed 6 people on a single large stuffed pizza and still had about a third of it left. Joe's Pizza is a little different in that the red sauce is served separate. This allows you to use as much or as little red sauce as you want. Joe's does not skimp on toppings. Sometimes the toppings in his stuffs pizza are so much, I often wonder how he can make any money at the prices he charges. Of course he serves pizza by the slice for those who don't want to buy a whole 6 pound pizza. The bottom line is, Joe's is a great Pizza place and it is something different from you run of the mill pizza places and chain places. Try it! You will like it. read more

Wow. Joe's Pizza actually makes me wish I lived in Abilene. My parents are stationed up there, and we're in San Antonio. Joe's Pizza is what gets me through the 4+ hour drive through the middle of nowhere. I'm originally from the Northeast, and take pizza very seriously. And Joe's Pizza is the real deal. The crust is thin, yet not too thin Its greasy, without being too greasy. The perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. Its all there. But don't stop with just the pizza! The chicken piccatta and penne ala vodka were both phenomenal. The hot garlic rolls that were brought out while we were waiting, fantastic. Truly, there aren't enough positive adjectives to describe the food at Joe's. If you find yourself in Abilene, don't miss this gem! read more

Man oh man, if you want some decent pizza then this is the place to hit up. This is a very small and nice pizzeria that offers much more than pizza. Here's what I think: The food: Super yummy pizza at a real affordable price in my opinion. It's not as cheap as Little Caesars but the quality is mounds better. We've tried pizza both regular and stuffed, strombolis, calzones, Philly cheesesteaks, ravioli, garlic bread, chicken wings, salads, and their cheesecake slices. All of it is good! We've been coming here for about three years now and have never really been disappointed. To go orders are just as good. This pizza place is a must. The restaurant: Small, garlic smelling (so good), and very much ran like a fast food place. For example, when you walk in you place an order up front, fill up a drink, and seat yourself. The food is then brought to your table and after eating you are expected to clean up and throw your trash out just like McDonalds or BK. The people that work there are nice but always busy. They don't focus on customer service too much. Don't get me wrong, they are all good people. It's the food that really makes this place great though. I really hate to bring reviews down by giving this place two stars but I wasn't a fan of the undercooked pizza dough. We read Yelp reviews and this place seemed to be the local favorite for pizza. Needed a quick meal and my eyes were larger than my stomach....I ordered a small pizza and some of their cheesy bread, plus a small salad and drink. Okay, I didn't know what the hell I was thinking because after I finished my salad, and they brought the bread, I was pretty much full. Once the pizza arrived, I felt obligated to at least tackle half of it...which I did because it tasted so damn good. These guys have a great place, even better they have the cool east coast accents so you feel like you're in a new york pizza joint, that or some mafia movie. If you want a small pizza place with great food that doesn't feel like some western texas restaurant trying to be a pizza place, then go to Joes. Joe's is the real deal folks. This is the only pizza worth eating in Abilene, in my opinion. THey do have 'off' days in my opinion, usually Sundays (not sure if maybe it's just different staff or what) but solid 90% of the pies I get from there are great. It's a small, family-run shop in off Buffalo Gap road (I mention this because there is an unaffiliated Joe's Pizza on Treadaway) and they are all very nice and prices are good. Unlike some other jackasses who might complain about cleaning up after themselves, I recognize that might be why they are able to have good food for great prices, but if being an asshole floats your boat, you can ruin it for everyone and I doubt they'd complain. For me though, I think Joe's is the only place worth getting pizza. read more

Wow - what a great little place. It's in a strip mall, so you might be tempted to overlook or skip this one - don't. The stuffed pizza is a delight. Not like others without flavor and a soggy crust either. I'm a Pizza Hut fan and like a plain simple thin crust with beef, onion and jalapeno - but this is an exceptional pizza. I'd much rather make a meal here than any other pizza place I can think of. This is a little like New York - without the "attitude". Real, northeastern accent with super friendly and helpful service - perfect. The slices of pizza are huge. I recommend starting with a single slice of stuffed pizza and get some marinara sauce, maybe a salad too. The pizza and calzones are perfect, great crust, great flavor. read more

What an awesome surprise while passing through Abilene. I grew up close to NYC, so I'm definitely a pizza snob and can be pretty skeptical of claims of good pizza in Texas. With that said, this was some of the best pizza and pasta, (penne alla vodka and a slice of plain cheese), that I've had in Texas. I have only had the grilled chicken Caesar salad. But guess what? It was fantastically delicious! The chicken was warm, the lettuce was cold, it came with real mozzarella cheese melting on the chicken rather than parmesan. Pretty super good. I also want to try the pizza and stromboli. read more

Oh what to say about this place? I love it, and although Yelp only shows one check in for me, I have been here many times. Definitely a love it or hate it place and your personal tastes and expectations of pizza will vary as much as the next person. I will say this though... I wouldn't recommend getting pasta dishes if your in a hurry. They must cook some/most of it to order so it can take some time. I love the Chicken Veneto (see my photos) and it is very much worth the wait! It is a little spicy so be careful if you can't handle heat. Salad was so so. You get homemade bread with entrees that might be a little heavy for some but its delicious and they use fresh garlic. The one negative I will say is ordering a whole fresh pizza was a poor experience. On one occasion we ordered a pizza to go. Toppings were plentiful but it just didn't seem cooked long enough so it ended up soggy. I would order a pizza again but would have them cook it at least time and half. All the prices are great considering what you get, although strombolis and calzones seem a little higher compared to what you get when put next to the stuff pizza. Friendly people too! Last night was my first visit here for a while and they have done a little remodeling since the last time. Tiled the floor, put a lick of paint on walls AND a very much needed update to the bathrooms (well the mens anyway, can't say I checked out the ladies). So anyone thats been here and was creeped out by the dingy bathrooms, those are gone. read more

Great New York style pizza. Popular among the locals. Everything is cooked to order, so it's fresh and hot when it arrives at your table. We had a 12" custom supreme pizza. Nice fresh vegetables on top, probably had to many toppings for the delicate thin crust, but it was delicious! Also had the house salad with the house dressing which was pretty tasty. Staff was friendly and helpful for us first timers. They called several of the customers by name, I'm sure they're regulars. The food is really good. We love their chicken roll, pizza and lasagna. The only problem is that if you call in a to go order, they'll tell you 25 minutes. You show up in 25-30 minutes and then they start on your order. You will sit there for another 30 minutes waiting on your food. This has been the case every time we have called in an order. We always plan on an hour wait minimum even though they tell you 25 minutes. Very frustrating, but if you know this going in, it will save you some aggravation. read more

Went there for the first time the other day. Got the #1 to split with my husband. The pizza was actually pretty good and the prices were amazing (besides charging .80 for a cup of ranch that I maybe used 1/4 of, but ehh, it's whatever) but it took probably 10-15min for just those two slices to be brought out and when we ordered, the guy that took our order was very short and cold to us. Not sure if he just wasn't having a good day or what. Overall it was an okay experience, but I'd rather pay a little more for better, faster, and nicer service at Dante's. read more

Worst service ever. I ordered a 14inch pepperoni pizza and this is what I got. I got 3 slices of sausage pizza. I think the teenage boy answering the phones screws up the orders. I don't see how they're still in business. And when I came in I saw a cockroach walking on the ground. Don't come here if you want your orders taken correctly. read more

I have eaten at Joes Pizza on Buffalo Gap Rd in Abilene , Texas. I like the fact that they are very prompt about getting your order whether it is to go or not to go. Each order is more than enough so they don't skimp on servings on most orders. Also, Joes is always clean and that is a real plus to me. My favorite thing to order is their Lasanga and the only thing I don't like is the amount is never the same. Sometime it will be nearly to the top and other times about a third less. On this note I would not give them a 5 star but a 4. I never know how much it is going to be. I'd have to give their food and prices a 5 Star compared to other restaurants in town Overall, I'd have to say that they really try to please their customers and with that, I'd have to highly recommend it B Harmon read more

The worst customer service ever. We called in a pizza and they told us "it's going to be a half hour. We waited and then left to go get our food we walked in and stood at the cash register for a good 15 minutes before they even bothered to acknowledge us. We then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes for our pizza it was not busy in the restaurant at all. When we did finally get our food it was soggy and gross. I will not be going back. read more

Surprisingly really good pizza! Like northeast style pizza, in Texas! Our apartment manager recommended this place and having nothing in our kitchen we decided to give it a shot. A 20" pizza for $13 was the first surprise - it's almost cheaper to eat out. The pizza itself was great - cheesy with a chewy crust and good tomato sauce. We have been here twice now due to Abilene's lack of food options. This last time was definitely our last visit. I would rather starve. First time we just picked up pizza from the main area do I didn't get to do a thorough recon of this establishment. Gross is all I can say. From the fake meat decor hanging from the ceiling full of dust and the dirty tables and trash cans.. Oh and the lack of hand washing from the employees. The cook was also the janitor. We sat right by the bathrooms and I witnessed 2 separate employees go to the bathroom and walk out in record timing.. Besides I could get to the letter K in my alphabet song.. So you know what that means.... Gross. I couldn't eat the pizza we ordered. My husband and son did because one is an Army Ranger and the other a college football player so they are used to disgusting eating conditions. Not me my friends...
