(We moved back here after 20 years in the Baton Rouge metro area and the culture shock is real; we are glad to have Double "D"!) We dine there about twice a month, either inside or take-out. The place is usually hopping with business, but the host(ess) normally gets you seated quickly. Most servers can handle the pressure and are prompt, know their menu, and check in after the food drops be sure you're satisfied. Drinks are refilled promptly. You're limited to Pepsi products here. Our menu favorites are the: Mesquite Grilled Chicken: the chicken is moist and flavorful. We usually choose the Sweet Potato as side and they're oven-baked and tender. We are not fans of the yeast rolls, but it's a thing here so there's that. Double "D" Burger: as advertised, a juicy burger, generously dressed. Again, not a fan of the "yeast roll" bun, but they do pop it on the grill for a little singe, which helps. French fries are not too salty, and always come out crispy and hot. We've only ordered cocktails here once, and that was more than enough. Mixed drinks are not a strength here, but their crowd tends to be non-alcohol, so it's not a big deal to skip the drinks when we're here

I'm assuming it's because it is Mother's Day weekend and they were busy. Anyhow, there was about a 15-20 minute wait for a table- no big deal. We were seated sooner than that which was great. We sat in a booth at approximately 7:00pm. We weren't greeted by ANYone until about 7:15. The nice server wasn't assigned to our table but she took our drink order and chip order. We get our drinks and chips. She came to check on us and advised our actual server would be with us momentarily. It is now 7:40 and out actual server has not come to check on us. The non-assigned server ended up taking our food order. Our food came about 8:00- almost exactly and hour from the time we were originally sat. My kiddos ordered mandarins as a side which came in a dirt bowl with parsley and cheese bits mixed in. My husband ordered a triple combo which was to consist of 3 types of meat- he only received two. Part of my entree was cold. During our visit MANY tables were left empty and dirty. They weren't being bussed. I understand if you are short handed, but it was kind of disgusting to sit in a restaurant surrounded by empty booths filled with half eaten plates of someone else's food, dirty napkins, and empty drink cups lying sroun We will go back because as you know it's Leesville and there isn't much around. However, I will avoid special occasions and possibly weekend evenings when it's the most crowded.

The restaurant was decorated as you would expect a good Cajun restaurant to be decorated in. Service was nice and friendly and you order at the register and they bring your food to you. Service was great even after we got our food. A server asked us if we needed refills and if we wanted them in to-go cups, which scored bonus points with me! Here's what I had on this lunch visit: The crawfish pistollette (8/10) which was a small appetizer that was bread with some crawfish etouffee on top. Bread was nicely cooked and the etouffee on top was delicious. Solid starter! The Cajun Cooking Sampler (9/10) - this was a sampler with 3 amazing dishes. I got the shrimp and crab gumbo, which is classic Louisiana gumbo and it was outstanding! The sampler also had a bowl of crawfish etouffee which was good but felt it needed a bit more etoufee to mix with the rice. Lastly, the special of the day was fish courtbouillon which was a fish in tomato based sauce over rice. I really enjoyed this as the fish has a great texture and there was a lot of flavor in the sauce. Overall, solid lunch meal in the $ to $$ range depending on what you order. Recommend you trying it for a great Cajun experience!

I've read reviews where the people complained that the food was bland. And other people complained that the foods were too salty. I have zero complaints. We were completely satisfied. Thanks to Apple Maps and Yelp for helping us make this decision. We were only in for a wedding and wanted a unique experience that was local- not a chain.

Excited by the prospect of joining a company that promotes equal opportunity, i applied for a position and followed the instructions i was given, including calling the manager on a specific day. Unfortunately, the interaction that followed was deeply disappointing. i was met with unprovoked hostility and condescension. the manager made it clear that applicants, including myself, were seen as nuisances and that employees were considered easily replaceable. there was no regard for individual circumstances, effort or respect. this experience was disheartening - not just because of the tone of the conversation, but because it revealed a culture that seems to prioritize volume and profit over human dignity. i immediately withdrew my application and made the personal decision to not support this establishment going forward. while Olive Garden may offer affordable and enjoyable food, i believe that how a business treats its employees and applicants reflects its deeper values. if you're someone who values kindness, respect, and inclusivity - not just as a customer but as a potential team member - you may want to consider other options.

It's the kind of place you go for a nice dinner, date night, or when you just want to slow down and enjoy a full meal. The Eats We started with drinks - my husband had The Italiano, which was smooth and well-balanced, and I went with a Hedges Family Wine, which paired nicely with dinner. For the meal: My husband had a house salad and the pan-seared fish, which was cooked well and complemented by the kind of rich, flavorful sauces they're known for. I went with the wedge salad and the surf & turf, and listen...this is where they shine. The surf & turf is a standout - steak paired with seafood and a bold, flavorful sauce that leans into that fusion they're known for. Everything came out well-prepared, plated nicely, and felt like a complete dining experience rather than just a quick meal. The Service Service was attentive and polished without being overbearing. Drinks stayed filled, courses came out at a comfortable pace, and the staff made sure everything flowed smoothly. It matched the overall feel of the restaurant - thoughtful and consistent. Parting Thoughts Between the cocktails, the wine, and standout dishes like the surf & turf, it delivers a well-rounded experience. Definitely a solid choice for a nice night out in Lake Charles - and one I'd return to when I'm in the mood for something a little more elevated.
