I have been going here for years usually getting a full service conventional oil change on my old cars. Price seemed good, easy to say no to "extras". This last month one guy put in the oil and 5 minutes later another guy put in oil. When it came time to do the final dip stick check, the guy looked confused, showed the dipstick to another mechanic, and then NOT to me and sent me out. I checked it in the parking lot, found it too full. Drove half a mile north to the next oil change place and he too found it over full. When I complained back at Joe's the manager apologized and gave me a free oil change coupon. Last week I took my caravan in for full service. Cost me $61 with the free oil change coupon ($85.96 synthetic oil). A few days later I checked my antifreeze fill tank and found it extremely low. The receipt said "coolant.....full". I'm not going back. The guy half a mile north is much friendlier and doesn't have a waiting line most of the time. read more

Worst.Customer.Service.Ever. Seriously. Go here often, pricing OK, never a line, just ignore the upselling and go on my way. Pull in today. Gas struts hold the hood up, but mount for one is bad so they always prop with the handy stick. Instead, fellow grabs vise grips and clamps the good piston. Cool - score the piston, then the seal, and cause early failure of the strut. Over the shop noise I yell at him to take the pliers off. Maybe he thought I cursed him - he started f-bombing me, he doesn't take rudeness from anyone, etc.. WOW! I'm in customer service, I know I didn't curse him. I said take the vise grips off or he could buy me a new strut. He told me to bleep myself. Oh - I can't be rude to him because HE IS THE OWNER. Well, "Joe", you went WAY over the line. My husband took my car in for an oil change yesterday and the next morning had a leak so he told me go back in for it and said it might be the plug. So I take the car in and they asked how many miles on the car, this is after them checking where the leak is from and the guy says it's an old car and you have leaks everywhere. Ok, well we might have had the leaks but how does it leak so much the day after getting the oil changed from them? My husband is going to go back tomorrow since they just tell women whatever to convince them that their car is the problem. My company comes here all the time, the staff is friendly, and honest, no games, my company drives a van that uses a special side mounted filter, that costs a little more at every place you go to, this is the first place that was up front and told me you know this van needs a special filter and it's a little more money, I was very pleased they pointed this out most places simply charge me for it and never bring it up, it's good to know they're honest here. read more

Worst experience I've ever had. What a disaster. STAY AWAY. I went in for an oil change with my 2015 Ford Fusion, and they were having trouble getting the hood open - note that I've never had any trouble with the hood before. They asked me to close the hood and re-pop it, upon doing so I look up to see them stabbing at my hood with a screwdriver. I immediately get out of the car to ask them to stop, because I've never had a problem with the hood... I see the damage to my car right away, they not only scratched some of the premium tri-coat paint off of my vehicle, but also put a dent in it as well from the prying action of the screwdriver on the front of the car. When I asked for them to fix it, he said they promise they'll get it fixed but asked that I leave now because they're getting ready to close. I wouldn't leave without more information... I wanted a signed paper stating what will be fixed, and how it will be fixed. This is when the lube tech from down in the pit comes up and starts swearing at me, asking me if "I want my whole f***ing car repainted or what" and making fun of my vehicle?! The owner or manager that was there kept saying it's not a big deal, it's not a big deal. But damaging my vehicle is a big deal to me... He even said "You know, I don't think we even did this"... and kept asking me to leave again. I kept demanding a paper signed by them stating that it will get fixed. They finally pulled out a blank piece of paper and scribbled a signature on it and said "we will fix the hood latch and touch up". It was signed by the person that actually damaged the vehicle with the screw driver. They told me they would call me the next day (Saturday June 3rd)) or the following Monday (June 5 2017). I was then asked to leave again and I did as they were getting quite angry and I felt the encounter might turn violent based on the tone they were taking and how much they were screaming and swearing at me. This was by far the most unprofessional place I have ever been to. It is now Monday June 5th, and I called to get some status on this and they said their mechanic is unavailable after I heard them call for him while they set the phone down... I asked when they would be available and they said "oh I have no idea, he's going to have to call you when he's back". It's clear to me they're avoiding the situation now completely and will refuse to take any responsibility for the damage they've caused. STAY AWAY FROM JOE'S QUICK LUBE. read more

I went to Joe's quick lube for an oil change. They advertise a $17.95 special. Here's what went wrong. They didn't drain all the old oil, perhaps they were cutting corners so they didn't have to fill it completely with new oil. The $17.95 special ended up costing me almost $40. They charge you for all kinds of extras that are not included in the $17.95 price. After Joes quick lube ripped me off, I drove down Vandyke and my brand new SUV started smoking and stinking like crazy from under the engine compartment. As it turns out, oil was dumped all over the engine and exhaust manifold. Im deeply disappointed and I'll never go back. Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere. read more

This guy calls himself a mechanic, PLEASE don't let him work on your vehicle! It cost me to lose my beautiful truck. Would have been 6600 dollars to replace the engine. The person I had tow it, looked at it and said, the timing chain was off and 3 cylinders were cracked and he stripped the spark plugs trying to force them in! This guy took the highest level of care with me every step of the way through the process and lifted an immense amount of weight off my shoulders helping me take care of this. On many occasions I have seen what appears to be irate customers arguing with the oil change grease monkeys upon exiting the oil change bay. One time I even witnessed a scuffle between two guys that was broken up by a woman who jumped out of a minivan. I've never taken my car here for any work, and I feel bad giving them a poor review, but due to the shenanigans I've seen in their parking lot throughout the years I have to. read more

I called and guy said it was $17.99 for oil change. So I went there. I was asked what I want and I replied "just the regular oil change". I was billed almost twice as much ($34 to be exact) for just the oil and filter. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE. This business will fail sooner or later if they continue gouging their customers! Walmart on 14 Mile Road/Van Dyke is reputable and offers very reasonably priced oil change (no hidden charges). The employees in Walmart get paid regular wages no matter what as long as they give customers decent and honest service. read more

WARNING: I wouldn't recommend going here. My family will never go back. Wife stopped in with our little ones in the back because she heard some sounds that scared her. Joe was the serviceman I don't know if he was the owner or not. Joe took full advantage of her even lying to her. At the end of the day he convinced her into buying a new battery even though that wasn't even the problem. He showed her a reading of zero on the meter he was using to show voltage. He did fix the problem but the battery was extra. He kept the old battery that was only 3 months old. He told her that she had to be careful who she buys batteries from because the one she had was very low quality and had no warranty. We had to pay him $20 to get the battery back, that was after he lied over the phone to me and said they immediately send the battery cores out. We get the battery back and take it to the place it came from and the battery is fine. We try to take the new battery back to Joes and they won't do the refund. We now have a pet car battery in our basement all because of this lying shop Joe's Quick Lube on Van Dyke. If I could give them a zero rating I would. read more

I've been going here for about a year now. After my last visit, I will go somewhere else from now on. At my last oil change, everything was fine. They checked all the fluids on my car; all was well. This time, they opened by telling me my brake fluid and power steering fluid were both bad. I told him thanks for letting me know and he proceeded to tell me that he could flush both systems for me now. I informed him that I was working on my brakes the next day and would check it out. He then told me that they don't usually flush brake systems when they change brakes, to which I told him that *I* am fixing my brakes and since he told me the fluid was bad I would flush the brake fluid myself. Next, he asked me why my wiper fluid was blue? I told him it was blue because the stuff they put in there at the last oil change must have been blue since I haven't filled it since the last time I visited. The final straw was when he hooked up some meter to my battery and tried to scare me in to buying a new battery. He told me the battery level on my battery was at only one bar and he hadn't seen that in years. He said it was urgent to get a new battery. I informed him that I would take it to AutoZone after I left, as my battery was only nine months old and still had a warranty. I almost said that since they were doing such a thorough job checking my car out, could they also check my blinker fluid and muffler bearings (just to be a smart ass). In addition, I have a feeling they over tightened something under my car because they jerked my car HARD twice when no one was standing near it. In over 20 years of oil changes done by myself and the ones done by oil change shops, I have never experienced a need to tighten something down like they did. If you are female or don't know anything about cars, take your car somewhere else. read more

This place brought me in for a tire repair that would take 2 hours, when I came back not only was it not fixed in time but they found a bunch of other things to charge me for, otherwise they couldn't "guarantee there work" My brother whos a mechanic for Monster Jam took a look at my car and bill and said not only did they do poor work and unnecessary repairs but they covered themselves on their end so I couldn't go back to demand that they fix their mistakes read more

To all my local friends....please don't do business with Joe's Quick Lube @ 16 & Van Dyke. I set them up for a "test"...just to see if they could be trusted to change the oil filter along with the oil. They FAILED! I had marked my existing filter with a paintstick...and also took a picture of it. After getting the oil change done, I inspected it....the filter was NOT changed....but just wiped down to make it look new. As you might expect...I freaked out and went back to confront them. The manager was super apologetic...blaming it on "the new guy".......said he "forgot"....(yeah...right). He put the car back in immediately....put the better oil in....and gave me coupons for 2 free oil changes. I'm still upset though... how can I even trust that they won't use someone else's used filter? If they do this on 40 or 50 cars a day....that's over a hundred bucks in someone's pocket. Looks like I'll have to go back to doing my own changes....at least till I can find someone that can be trusted. I would advise everyone to do the same....mark it with something....even put a scratch on it .....just so you can identify whether it was changed. It's a shame you can't trust these places....just think about how many miles could be on a filter if you take it back a few times to the same place.......
