Food was surprisingly awful, and the service was worse. Got fries and a steak and cheese. The two things I always order from restaurants when I first go- because they're both basic, quick and easy to make yum. Unfortunately I wanted 45 min for unsalted fries and a hotdog sized steak and cheese that taste like shoe leather. The worst part is I was the only one there when I ordered initially, then someone else came, orders, got their food in 10 min. After that happened, I asked how long my food would take- was told 5 min. 15 min later I'm presented with food that wouldn't be fit for a navy ship. (Anyone that's been on a navy ship understands). I drove out here because a distant creemie stand owner said that Joes was among the best in northern vt., yes, but obviously they were speaking from both hearsay (which they admitted) and from sometime in the past because when I got to Joe's snack bar, I I was a gas to find that day only serve Hoods soft serve, , and not authentic Vermont Maple creemies . I know that the owner of Joe's is going out of business for it was in the recent free newspaper seven days per month, but I wish that she had honored Vermont until the very end by serving what is Vermont authentic and real dairy and maple syrup treat. And while we're at it, wouldn't it be nice if any of these types of businesses would actually serve real food. You know what I mean, you could have the same menu, but it could be real authentic, Vermont produce and dairy and ingredient, you would help out your neighbors and fellow monitors. While serving awesome wholesome Actual authentic food to the public. Many of us would pay the price for that because the The alternative is... Well what you serve. Terrible, I didn't get to try the food because the place closed at 7pm on a beautiful warm spring Saturday evening. At 6:55pm my 10 year old daughter and I were screamed at by the owner that we aren't being served because she was closing and only 2 more people were being served in the line and we were no the 2. We had been in line for ten minutes and were the third and last customers in line. Joke is on her though. We went to Kate's Food Truck just down the road and they took great care of us. Want a creamy? Maybe a burger? Some fried chicken? Some fries? Anything fried for that matter... This is the place in Jericho to get it. The food's pretty tasty, very greasy, great fries... but very expensive. If you're ok with paying upwards of $10 per adult for a hotdog, some fries, and a shake, then look no further, you've found the place. If your wallet is hurting a lil, you might want to drive on by. Also, they're a bit of an anachronism. Only open during the summer, and all orders are taken down on paper, tax is calculated by hand, and cash/check only for payment to the best of my knowledge. If you want to watch a teenager do some math, you're in luck! Finally, if you're in a hurry, this is probably not the best place. Food can sometimes take 30+ minutes if it's really busy (which it can be). read more

A staple of Jericho, it has become somewhat expensive for what you get. If I go and get a meal for my family of 4 it usually is over $25. I'm a sucker for the Pizza Burger, but at $3 each it seems a bit sparse lately. While not outrageous, I always feel that it should be cheaper given the fact it only has outdoor seating and you THINK it should be a cheap quick place to take the kids in the summer. Also, I am pretty sure they don't take credit cards, only checks and cash. read more

This must be one of those places where the nostalgia wins out over the food taste. I've heard about Joe's all of my life, but I never took the plunge until today. I was extremely disappointed and could never recommend Joe's Snack Bar to anyone. We ordered a chicken finger basket, a Michigan dog, onion rings, and two milkshakes, totaling $25 for the two of us. While this is expensive, it's worth it for us to eat at a local establishment, knowing our money will go right back into the local economy. Well, it's not worth that here. The chicken fingers were over cooked and came with a weird piece of grinder roll. The cole slaw was bland, but the fries were decent. The Michigan dog was not a true Michigan dog. It was a hot dog with ground beef on it. The hot dog was tiny and definitely not of quality. I got 5 onion rings, at a cost of nearly $0.50 per ring. They must have been from a bag. And then there were the milkshakes. I will shell out a pretty penny for a quality milkshake, so I didn't bat an eye at the upcharge for a thick shake. While I was waiting for the order (a long wait, considering there were only three orders in total), a man inquired about creemees and ice cream. The person at the counter informed him that they didn't have ice cream. Hmmmm. How do you make a milkshake without ice cream? Well, the regular shake was basically bright pink strawberry milk, and the 'thick' chocolate shake was thinner than a McDonalds shake. Both had artificial tastes to them, so I'm pretty sure I don't want to know how they are made. This was a big disappointment, and, needless to say, we won't be returning. read more

They have a bit of everything, such as hot dogs, burgers, fries, basically all the greasy stuff you want. They have creemees too. I had a creemee here thinking it was good but unfortunately I was quite disappointed. The servings are quite small and prices are high, but most of all, the creemee was tasteless. I've been going to Joe's Snack Bar since I was a kid. I used to go with my Dad and Stepmom and do you now that all these years later, Teeny can STILL tell me my my order was and will be? Two pigs in a blanket with mustard, fries and a coffee milkshake extra thick. There is even a children's book about Joe's. Our daughter goes to college in Northfield and I think nothing of driving up to eat at Joe's! read more

Joe's snackbar is a fast food independent joint that rarely, if ever, has disappointed me. I consider their homemade fries some of the best around Chittenden County. Again, I see lots of complaints about the food being pricey. If your not willing to pay the extra little bit for "higher quality" greasy food then take your ass back into Essex and hit the golden arches. Also, the way orders are taken (hand-written and added up with a calculator) is done to preserve the "Old fashioned" feeling that comes with going to a drive in joint to get some grub. Of course you are going to wait anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes to get your food because, well, that's a normal amount of time for food to be cooked. Love the breaded zucchini, minute steak, pizza burger. Some of the best coleslaw that has ever touched my lips. Perfect amount of mayo, and love the added onions into it. read more

The food is terrible for you, getting a proper dipped cone is not to be expected, there is nothing in terms of flavor that stands out. However, it's all good enough for you to pine for it all winter long and create memories, generation after generation every summer. Nope, nope, and triple nope. My boyfriend told me he was taking me on a date and wanted to pick up food from a local place I'd never eaten at. He ordered fries, clam strips, the cajun burger for me, and a pizza burger. The fries were soggy slop- worst fries ever. Pizza burger was a disgrace- farted out dust cheese slice that reminded me of free lunch in the cafeteria growing up in NYC. Very sad burger however surprisingly seasoned well. Tasteless and dry as a bone, no sauce. The milkshake is so watered down it will never bring any boys to the yard! The Cajun burger was half way decent but personally I think it was just bbq sauce?? I didn't bother tasting the clam strips because the vision of them across the picnic table dried my eyeballs out enough to know they were terrible. I was told this is a local business (which I love supporting) but they def need to step their game up. I do see potential given they have had such a long standing great reputation in Jericho. read more

I have always loved Joe's Snack Bar so my family and I went for the first time this summer and we were all very disappointed. The Big Mac burger was super plain and greasy. The way over priced chicken tenders my kids had were so hard and gross you could tell the fryers haven't been cleaned out in quite some time. My husband had the steak sandwich which was also very plain with hardly any meat on it. Joe's has always been a favorite for us so I'm really hoping it was just a fluke. Also the kids at the window should have a calculator and maybe carbon copy paper for receipts. read more

Had my first hot fudge sundae of the season at Joe's Snack Bar this past Sunday, July 23rd and was so disappointed. The sundae only comes in one size which is a small when compared to sizes at other cremee stands, which is fine, except that the charge with tax was $4.04 and the quality of the cremee was awful. The word cremee is an overstatement. It was more icy crystals with no taste. The serving size was very small with a few spoonfuls of hot fudge. I will never again visit Joe's Snack Bar. Maybe back in the day they were good, but not so much now. There are plenty of other cremee stands to go to. read more
