Wow! So I had a service call at a factory in Phillipsburg today and on the way was thinking of stopping at Jimmy's at the free bridge. I was so taken by the price of gas ($2.75) I drove right past! So here comes Joe's! I have ben going here for many years, so I was pretty sure of what I would get. Ordered a Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak with onions. Very friendly lady took my order - actually the same the made up the order! Only took a few minutes! Order was out! Delivered to me on a tray with very nice plate! I grabbed a diet Coke from the case, the only flavor of diet soda in the cooler, which is ok I guess, and sat down to eat my $14 worth of sandwich and drink. I sort of looked at the steak and said "not much meat!" but I was wrong! The perfect roll packed with flavorful Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak!!! And with a pickle on the side. And they provided a fork in the event a few bites fell out. None did! Perfect sandwich. Yup, I can eat cheaper, but product was worth it! And when you order anything at any of the Yocco's you get the product on a sheet of paper on the the tray. Note: They take credit cards. No extra charge. Not lots of seating inside, but plenty outside and some is covered. Pretty good parking, also. Nice menu, also.

Onion rings were my favorite. Good roll, pretty good steak, needs more cheese (and I got double). Fries very good as well.

Just stupendous! The food was great and the setting was great. What a great old institution. It irks me when people base their entire review on how jovial the staff is. It is a 90-year-old sandwich shop. It has perfect ambience for what it is trying to be. If you want white glove treatment, go to Ruth's Chris for your next cheesesteak sandwich and get over yourself. Sorry. I got distracted. Great place. You get a whiff of 90 years of sandwiches and fries right when you walk in. The good kind of whiff, not a bad one. They have very interesting options on the menu (and some flavors of packaged potato chips I never dreamed of) but I was there for the cheesesteak sandwich. So, just to level-set; this is a cheesesteak sandwich a long way from Philly. It is not in direct competition with the endless list of cheesesteak places in and around that city. So don't walk in expecting that. Having said that, it is a very respectable sandwich. I did get double cheese and it still didn't come with much cheese so that was disappointing. The steak was good but would have benefitted from much more salt and pepper. The roll was pretty good. The "hot" sauce wasn't particularly hot. The closest thing I could come up with was cocktail sauce. Doesn't seem like that would work but, somehow, it does. Does help moisten the sandwich up some. The onion rings were sublime. Very flavorful and expertly cooked. The fries were crispy and fluffy and also cooked very well. All in all, a very well rounded meal and worth the trip just to eat at such an history old place. Loved it and would go back.

On #NationalSelfieDay @BigDudesBigFoods decided to check out the #Cheesesteaks at Joe's Steak Shop in #PhillipsburgNJ Joe, Jody and the crew treated us like family and the cheesesteaks were great. We chased them down with fries, onion rings and some @officialjoetea Tuesday was car show day for an added bonus. Our mission was to have a pork roll sandwich and fries. I won't eat fries unless they are crispy. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered fries well done and they are either burnt or limp. Joe's fries were so perfect, I ate until I hit the bottom of the generously filled bag. We are from Thousand Oaks, California, and if you ask for pork roll, they have no idea what you are asking for. I could easily tell them heaven on a roll. Joe's nailed that as well. The staff is wonderful. We will definitely come back, just not the first week in August, because that's vacation time.

Came for the Cheesesteaks not sure what the sauce is all about but you can get mild or hot...ordered cheesesteak with none since all of the cheesesteaks I have ever had didnt come with "sauce". Just the average cheesesteak. Beware.....The Pierogies are not "homemade" . Pierogies are straight from Mrs.T frozen pierogies.....type just like you can get at the grocery store. The most important fact though, is they have Coke on fountain!!!! always a plus. Bottom line..decent food, decent prices.

As good as you'll find in Jersey. Make sure you get the sauce over top, delish! Met the craving I've had for months since last in Philly.

Truly a tradition in Phillipsburg. In addition to great steak sandwiches they make the best milkshakes.

This was always a spot I walked by but never stopped, but after moving here and giving it a shot, I wish I could go back in time. Whether you order a hot sandwich smothered in sauce or a classic cold sub, you're guaranteed a loaded, consistently well-made, delicious sandwich. The attached photos are from today's meal, which was very quick, looked amazing, and tasted even better. We had two of the munchies, the Spicy Garlic Pizza Bites and the Fried Ravioli. Both were tasty and affordable. For the sandwiches, today I got The Balboa (1/2) and my boyfriend got The Italiano (whole). The chicken in The Balboa were delicious, traditional Italian style breaded cutlets. Despite being covered in their sauce and cheese, both the roll and the breading on the cutlets remained perfectly crispy. The bread is always great, and today I opted for the garlic bread semolina which added a great flavor for this sandwich. I got two thumbs up from my boyfriend about The Italiano, I couldn't really get a word from him while he was eating because he was loving this sandwich so much. I asked him if it was "better than Wawa", and if looks could kill, I wouldn't be writing this right now. His face said, "you didn't even just ask me that". Besides our successful meal today, I also wanted to share an amazing service experience I had at Ciao last week. The shop was packed, and I ended up waiting around 20 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't think much of it to be honest...Given how busy they were, the employees were clearly focused, working very hard, and turning out one amazing looking sandwich after another. When my order was ready, the owner (or manager) handed me my bag, apologized for the wait, and insisted I take a free dessert from their fridge. I hadn't complained and honestly didn't mind waiting, but that gesture spoke volumes. Some might see waiting as an inconvenience worth some sort of refund/reward, but given all of the circumstances I noted earlier, I see that as a sign of a small business thriving. So, to me, this gesture showed me how much they truly value their customers and how committed they are to creating a positive experience worth returning to. The fact that they went above and beyond only confirmed why Ciao has quickly become one of my favorite local spots. And can't forget... the cheesecake was also great! So whether you're ordering eat in and sitting outside enjoying Downtown, doing take out for pick up, or ordering to-go from online, I highly recommend Ciao for a tasty sandwich, great side options, and wonderful service.

Two sandwiches, fries and two drinks were over $50. The staff seemed to be walking around like zombies and the food took forever to come out. I'll just break this down as quickly as possible. The good: - There was plenty of meat and it was seasoned well. - There was plenty of cheese and it was Cooper Sharp. - The roll had a nice consistency and flavor. - The girl working the front was friendly. - They had a massive American flag over the register. 'MERICA BABY The not so good: - The 12" steak and a bottle of propel cost $19. I have zero issues paying for good food, but I did find that a bit steep. - The onions were sliced red onion that they sautéed. Wasn't really a "bad" thing, just unexpected. Still tasted fine. - While there was plenty meat, it was packed to the middle and the ends had a lot less. I know that's a bit nit pickey, but it is a pet peeve of mine. All in all I really enjoyed the steak and I'd get it again, but due to the price I wouldn't rush back in or go out of my way necessarily to get back there. I do know food costs are up for everyone, not just consumers, I just figured this steak was bare minimum a $16 steak (if the propel was $3). That puts the cost in the ballpark of Mercatino Italiano and Mercatino's steak is definitely in another class imo.
