Perfect martini while we wait for our table

Joe's is, simply put, one of Miami's old-guard establishments and a visit is a must if you haven't been. Don't worry about the dress code as it varies significantly, and be prepared for a bit of a wait on busy nights. The staff has generally been around FOREVER, and they're kind, patient, and characters in their own right; which is part of the charm. When it comes to the food, stick to the stone crab... maybe add some fried chicken for good measure. They do stone crab exceptionally well. While we've been here several times, we make a point of coming back strictly for the crab. A true Miami classic that still delivers. The place is quite large and offers throw back decor.

Lets jump right into the food shall we. Fried Chicken - Wow,,, if there was something to describe a fresh fried chicken this would be it. Seasoned just perfectly, crunch is outstanding and definitely lives up to the hype. 9.5/10 Creamed Spinach - Garlic punch in the mouth. Its perfectly done. I can feel the vegetable. One of the best creamed spinach i ever put in my mouth. 8.7/10 Lobster Roll - Thats a really nice lobster roll. Its citrus forward, bread is nice and texturey with the toast. Respect. 8.5/10 Stone Crab - Eaten chilled. Really good meat in the claws. Its succulent. The sauce needs a bit of punch imo. But overall 9/10 Service was impeccable, our server was definitely very attentive. The place looks like old money as well. I highly recommend.

Service, top notch!! Fancy place and fancy servers. Food was delicious, and we were stuffed to the max. Nice ambience with low light and clean tables. Would come back again!

Went on a Friday at 630 pm, it was busy but not crowded. We went to the cafe area which is like a chill area and ordered the fried chicken, the chicken tenders which come with fries the chopped salad and the select in stone crab. The came out to $105. Everything came out quickly and hot which I love. The chicken for 8.95 is the best deal there. It's perfectly fried and the batter is light and crispy. The chicken tenders are a solid portion and they come with fries it was $15. The select crab stone choice comes with a mix of sizes 59.99 and it was 6 pieces. And lastly the chopped salad. Got the small which is a good portion but there's nothing special about it. It was mainly iceberg lettuce. Service was fine, but they should definitely consider a second cashier to help because we went back to order a dessert and there were about 10 people in line. Maybe ever open a dessert line.

Words can hardly do justice to the wonderful evening we had at this restaurant. We started with the stone crab, which was absolutely outstanding. We also ordered the chicken, and the portion was so generous that it genuinely surprised us. The fried green tomatoes were delicious, the soup was excellent, the bread was fantastic, and the wine complemented everything perfectly. Beyond the food, the atmosphere and ambiance were simply incredible. This is one of those places where every detail comes together to create a memorable dining experience. The service was equally impressive--friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. No star rating feels high enough for the experience we had here. We were extremely pleased with the food, the flavors, the service, and the overall atmosphere. I will absolutely return on my next trip. Thank you for such a memorable evening.

I will say, the locals talked this place up! So, we obviously had to try it! I wasn't really a fan of the cold crab that comes out, nor was I expecting greens to be a common side dish with it, but they came out as a popular dish as well. I feel like the ambiance was a bit too upscale for the type of food being served, but to each their own. We did however love their cheesecake. If you eat anything- the cheesecake is a must try!

I take this experience with a grain of salt because we went when stone crab was just out of season. Need to go back in April next time. However I will say the service is stellar. Our waiter Nick was PHENOMENAL at his job and so so kind. We tried the large stone crab claws of course and although I liked how much meat you get compared to other crab / lobster, it tasted of very little and was kind of semi frozen almost? The sauce to dip in was really good. As for the sides, I liked them! Nothing was mind blowing but they were good. My favorite were the grilled tomatoes with spinach and cheese. SO flavorful and cheesy. The corn was pretty average, just mostly limey. I did really like the potatoes lyonnaise though perhaps some cheese would've brought it to the next level.

Joe's stone crab is a throwback to a simpler time with nice restaurants and classy service. Ambiance was beautiful and Angelo was an amazing waiter! Loved the backstory on the rest and he was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were delicious. We had the following: - select stone crab claws with hashbrowns, creamed spinach, and a salad. 4/5. Crab was delicious, but the sides were just ok - fried chicken - 3/5. large portion, but could use more seasoning and salt - crab bisque - 5/5. Delicious and went with the free bread perfectly - key lime pie 5/5. Prob the best I've ever had Stone crabs are only from Florida and I love how Joe's is sustainable only taking 1 claw per crab so they can regenerate. Definitely a must visit in Miami!

The service was fantastic, and that was probably the best part of our experience. We were seated promptly for our 7:00pm reservation--depending on how far you're staying, I would maybe try rideshare as the complimentary lot across the street was full and finding street parking was difficult. I really enjoy crab in general and wanted to try out Joe's because of all the hype, but I overall did not feel the food was particularly good. I think we got the large crab, made it a classic meal, and got an order of the half chicken to round it out. There was also a complimentary bread service, with a variety of different breads. As soon as the crab was brought out and we had bibs on, our server asked if we wanted a picture, which was very kind. In terms of food taste: The crab was fine, but I didn't care for the mustard sauce it was served with. I asked for more lemon wedges, which I received really quickly and appreciated. Again, the service was by far the best thing about this place! Later on, as my boyfriend and I were talking about how this place seemed a little old timey, he asked if they were just keeping the recipes the same since they had opened. I feel like that might be the case, which may be really appealing for some people but I think it missed the mark for me in this case. The Joe's cole slaw was a little more vinegary than I would have liked. I thought the hashed brown potatoes and the creamed spinach were okay. The key lime pie was decent, and maybe my favorite part of the meal.

After 4+ years of living in Miami I finally made it to Joe's and boy was it an experience! The old school vibes are so nostalgic and the service is truly top tier. We were always attended to and with the best hospitality. Get the fried chicken and fried green tomato's before finishing with the pie. A staple for a reason!

Great food ! While the Succulent stone crabs and the delicious crab bisque stole the show, the spinach and bread were no less ! Despite booking, we had to wait for almost 40mins outside and there was a very long line. Once seated, our waiter was prompt and pleasant. Quite an upscale experience.

Their specialty may be crab claws, but this fried chicken deal is the unsung hero. It's only available in the take out space, which looks like a food court. It's $8.95 for a 4 piece, which is less expensive than many fast food options! Fried Chicken: Elevated way above fast food. It had a nice crunchy coating and juicy meat underneath. There was no elaborate spice blend; it just tasted delicious. And the fact that two people could eat a whole fried chicken (8 pieces) for under $20 in SoFi is just mind boggling.

Having been to Joes in Chicago and Vegas, I knew I was going to be blown away by the food and the amazing service at the original location in Miami! And boy did they deliver! We went for a late lunch. Make reservations always, as this place is always full with a line to get in. We stood in a short line to check in and then were directed to the bar to wait a bit. No problem. They came and got us in the amount of time it takes to order a drink and then we were seated at a cute table for 4 by the window. Our server, Alejandro, was over in a flash but not before someone else came and got us water and I think someone else took our drink order. It was seamless and amazing to have so many people working together to make sure our meal went well. We started with a range of appetizers, cocnut shrimp, stuffies and a chopped salad to share. All were delicious. For our entrees, two of us went with their amazing fried chicken (best deal in town at only $8.95) one had the blackened grouper and another the crab cakes. We also tried their sweet potato fries (so much sugar and cinnamon!) the coleslaw and the lyonnaise potatoes. But while all of that was fantastic- here's what stole the show for me. We ordered 2 slices of their amazing key lime pie to share for the 4 of us. I figured they'd just plop them down with an extra fork and be done with it but no! The pie was split in the back and served to each of us like it was our own. And one in our group had ordered extra whipped cream and we all got it! AMAZING! All in all just an amazing way to show out of town guests the kind of great hospitality we have in South Florida from Joes!

Joe's Stone Crab Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Joe's Stone Crab

Are long pants for men required? Sitting on the beach thinking about slacks doesn't seem right.

Nice shorts, no cut-offs or swimwear.

When would be the best time to arrive on Saturday to avoid a wait for lunch for 2 people?

Around 11.30pm or 2pm; however I recommend you to make a reservation prior going

    Happy hours special?

We do not have a happy hour. Hope you will come in anyway and enjoy our wonderful bar and bar menu.

Just how "strict" is the dress code? According to the website,"Dress Code is business casual & is strictly enforced. NO athletic wear and NO beach wear is permitted." but, based on photos, pretty sure shorts and flip flops aren't biz-casual

Me and my 3 kids weren't dressed for this nice restaurant but they still seat us and had a wonderful person attend to us, but it would be nice to dress up a little bit if ur up to it.

Is it still worth getting the crab even AFTER May 1st and crab season is over?

We just got back and I could not tell the difference. Go for it

    What is parking situation?

Parking lot across the street from joes is free for customers

Is there currently outdoor seating for dinner?

Yes, there is outdoor seating as well as joe's takeout next door.

    Is there cat friendly?

    Cat friendly? No jodás!!

How much is the seafood tower?

    $22

Hi I know the restaurant opens 10-15. But my question is... does the take out have Stone crabs available now? :)?

They did when we went last weekend!

    Are you currently open?

The main restaurant is currently closed until Oct 15, 2021. Please join us in the Take Away Cafe, which is open Tues to Sun, 11:30am to 9pm.

Is the take out menu a available for dine in ? My father loves lasagna?

The menu is available, but I dont think Joe's serves lasagna. I looked in the menu and its not listed.

Is the Stone Crab served hot or cold?

Cold. They are served with a mustard dipping sauce too that's amazing.

How many stone crabs does the Medium Joe's classic meal include? Also, does Joe's classic meal include 3 sides or just one?

We bought our claws a la cart & an appetizer & shared the potatoes and 1 slice of pie. The classic meal is per person and the two medium claws are really too small for us, it's an appetizer portion. It includes a small side of hash browns,…

Coming in town tomorrow and plan to have dinner here. Do we need a reso for 2?

Walk ins are always welcome. Reservations thru the app are limited.

What is the difference in the different choices of crab claws on the menu. Is it the size of the claws or the number you get?

They are all 1 pound. The difference is in size - bigger ones has more meat vs the shell

    What is the Corkage fee?

You can't bring in your own wine to my knowledge. They have a full bar and wine list.

Is it all you can eat?

We do not have an all you can eat option.

Is there a dog friendly (out side)?

Yes..they have an outdoor patio area you can eat with and have your dog accompany you.

    Open on Christmas day? 12/15?

We will be open for dinner only on 12/25, from 5 to 10pm.

This rude and annoying behavior overshadowed the meal and left us very frustrated and annoyed. If you are going to require certain attire (although several guest came in while we were there who had on shorts and flip flops) and charge very high prices, you should have a cell phone policy in place and redirect guest to step outside or leave if they feel the need to FT their family for 20-30 min.
