After 4+ years of living in Miami I finally made it to Joe's and boy was it an experience! The old school vibes are so nostalgic and the service is truly top tier. We were always attended to and with the best hospitality. Get the fried chicken and fried green tomato's before finishing with the pie. A staple for a reason!
Joe's stone crab is a throwback to a simpler time with nice restaurants and classy service. Ambiance was beautiful and Angelo was an amazing waiter! Loved the backstory on the rest and he was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were delicious. We had the following: - select stone crab claws with hashbrowns, creamed spinach, and a salad. 4/5. Crab was delicious, but the sides were just ok - fried chicken - 3/5. large portion, but could use more seasoning and salt - crab bisque - 5/5. Delicious and went with the free bread perfectly - key lime pie 5/5. Prob the best I've ever had Stone crabs are only from Florida and I love how Joe's is sustainable only taking 1 claw per crab so they can regenerate. Definitely a must visit in Miami!
The service was fantastic, and that was probably the best part of our experience. We were seated promptly for our 7:00pm reservation--depending on how far you're staying, I would maybe try rideshare as the complimentary lot across the street was full and finding street parking was difficult. I really enjoy crab in general and wanted to try out Joe's because of all the hype, but I overall did not feel the food was particularly good. I think we got the large crab, made it a classic meal, and got an order of the half chicken to round it out. There was also a complimentary bread service, with a variety of different breads. As soon as the crab was brought out and we had bibs on, our server asked if we wanted a picture, which was very kind. In terms of food taste: The crab was fine, but I didn't care for the mustard sauce it was served with. I asked for more lemon wedges, which I received really quickly and appreciated. Again, the service was by far the best thing about this place! Later on, as my boyfriend and I were talking about how this place seemed a little old timey, he asked if they were just keeping the recipes the same since they had opened. I feel like that might be the case, which may be really appealing for some people but I think it missed the mark for me in this case. The Joe's cole slaw was a little more vinegary than I would have liked. I thought the hashed brown potatoes and the creamed spinach were okay. The key lime pie was decent, and maybe my favorite part of the meal.
The restaurant is beautiful. Let's start there, but the service is even better. The host even carried my drink to the table and held the seat open for me,besides that the stone crab is delicious and fresh the stone crab bisque is superb . I'm coming back to this beautiful restaurant. I do recommend it to anybody, it's a fun crowd too. Also don't sleep on their Keylime pie. They actually have the best ever the whipped cream doesn't melt.
Great food ! While the Succulent stone crabs and the delicious crab bisque stole the show, the spinach and bread were no less ! Despite booking, we had to wait for almost 40mins outside and there was a very long line. Once seated, our waiter was prompt and pleasant. Quite an upscale experience.
The server we had was 50/50. I had to ask 3 times for the gluten free menu and it took forever to finally get it. We frequently had empty cups, including water, and it took an insane amount of time to get them filled. The menu was pretty good and they had a lot of gluten free items including a dedicated gluten free menu. The food was very basic. It was nothing spectacular. The crab bisque had 0 crab in it and was very basic. The crab cakes I was expecting giant lumps of crab (crab meat is what they are famous for) and I didn't get that which was disappointing. They also have a take away area which is food court style where you can more easily just walk in and eat and pick what you want from a limited menu. The bar area also has a smaller menu that you can sit and eat at the bar. The dining room area pretty much requires a reservation. We initially had a 2 hour estimate wait but was able to get a reservation 10 minutes from the time we walked in and were told that. They also do have a free parking lot available which is first come first serve. Overall. I probably would never recommend this place based solely on what we had.
I lived in Miami Beach for 7 years. Never ate at Joe's. Now that I have moved away, it finally seemed like time to try it out. Holy crap! This is one dining experience that is touristy but so worth it. Service is top notch. The food is delicious. The stove crabs were some of the best I've ever had. It's pricey, but definitely worth it.
Their specialty may be crab claws, but this fried chicken deal is the unsung hero. It's only available in the take out space, which looks like a food court. It's $8.95 for a 4 piece, which is less expensive than many fast food options! Fried Chicken: Elevated way above fast food. It had a nice crunchy coating and juicy meat underneath. There was no elaborate spice blend; it just tasted delicious. And the fact that two people could eat a whole fried chicken (8 pieces) for under $20 in SoFi is just mind boggling.
Joe's Stone Crab is a classic for a reason. My friend and I wanted key lime pie while we were in Miami Beach and Joe's was one of the few places that had it listed on their online menu. When we looked at the hours, it looked like it was closing soon so we were going to try the take out window. Turns out they were still open and the kitchen was open for at least 30 minutes longer so we sat at the bar. My friend got a drink, and I got a half-dozen oysters which were so fresh and delicious. Then what we came for - the key lime pie. I am a key lime pie connoisseur so I have high expectations, but this one is really good. It was cold, creamy, lime-y, and sweet, but everything worked really well together. The service was fantastic as well, and the bar is very cozy!
Having been to Joes in Chicago and Vegas, I knew I was going to be blown away by the food and the amazing service at the original location in Miami! And boy did they deliver! We went for a late lunch. Make reservations always, as this place is always full with a line to get in. We stood in a short line to check in and then were directed to the bar to wait a bit. No problem. They came and got us in the amount of time it takes to order a drink and then we were seated at a cute table for 4 by the window. Our server, Alejandro, was over in a flash but not before someone else came and got us water and I think someone else took our drink order. It was seamless and amazing to have so many people working together to make sure our meal went well. We started with a range of appetizers, cocnut shrimp, stuffies and a chopped salad to share. All were delicious. For our entrees, two of us went with their amazing fried chicken (best deal in town at only $8.95) one had the blackened grouper and another the crab cakes. We also tried their sweet potato fries (so much sugar and cinnamon!) the coleslaw and the lyonnaise potatoes. But while all of that was fantastic- here's what stole the show for me. We ordered 2 slices of their amazing key lime pie to share for the 4 of us. I figured they'd just plop them down with an extra fork and be done with it but no! The pie was split in the back and served to each of us like it was our own. And one in our group had ordered extra whipped cream and we all got it! AMAZING! All in all just an amazing way to show out of town guests the kind of great hospitality we have in South Florida from Joes!
The food was better than ever today at Joes Stone Crab! We brought my mom here since she's visiting from Ohio and got a large order of stone cabs with a famous mustard sauce. I ordered the hashbrowns extra crispy and they were perfect.! somehow very creamy inside the crispy outside the tomatoes were the best they've ever tasted today! They were giant and stuffed perfectly with spinach and melted cheese. Great meal great service and fun ambience. Just bring a sweater.!
I'm split with review. The first night it was great service and our waitress was kind. The food was the same. The second night amazing staff but our server was very rude and rushed us. We were a large party the second night and for color on how rude he was brought our desert with the bill and before we finished eating desert asked for his coot of receipt and pen back. We had dinner in an hour because of how rushed we felt. Extremely rude and my clients called the service fast foot type. Couldn't believe it.

Words can hardly do justice to the wonderful evening we had at this restaurant. We started with the stone crab, which was absolutely outstanding. We also ordered the chicken, and the portion was so generous that it genuinely surprised us. The fried green tomatoes were delicious, the soup was excellent, the bread was fantastic, and the wine complemented everything perfectly. Beyond the food, the atmosphere and ambiance were simply incredible. This is one of those places where every detail comes together to create a memorable dining experience. The service was equally impressive--friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. No star rating feels high enough for the experience we had here. We were extremely pleased with the food, the flavors, the service, and the overall atmosphere. I will absolutely return on my next trip. Thank you for such a memorable evening. read more
I take this experience with a grain of salt because we went when stone crab was just out of season. Need to go back in April next time. However I will say the service is stellar. Our waiter Nick was PHENOMENAL at his job and so so kind. We tried the large stone crab claws of course and although I liked how much meat you get compared to other crab / lobster, it tasted of very little and was kind of semi frozen almost? The sauce to dip in was really good. As for the sides, I liked them! Nothing was mind blowing but they were good. My favorite were the grilled tomatoes with spinach and cheese. SO flavorful and cheesy. The corn was pretty average, just mostly limey. I did really like the potatoes lyonnaise though perhaps some cheese would've brought it to the next level. read more

This place is a staple and there's a reason. The staff is friendly, the service is exemplary, the drinks strong and delicious! And omg the stone crabs are out of this world. I hate key lime pie but the one here is a whole different vibe. This one I share every single time. read more

I'll admit I didn't know much about Joe's Stone Crab going in, but after one meal here I can see why it's so popular. This place was VERYYY busy on a Friday evening, so make sure you make a reservation ahead of time or it might be a while before you get seated. Even though our large group had one, we still had to wait a little bit. We ordered plenty of sides that were portioned larger than the average entree elsewhere. My personal favorites were the scallops, calamari, and lobster mac & cheese. The fried chicken was a pleasant surprise; the breading honestly reminded me of Jollibee. We also wanted to include brussels sprouts to have a veggie at the table and sort of offset all of the fried food, but the dish ended up being mostly bacon and we couldn't finish it. But the pièce de résistance was of course the stone crab platter, which comes to you pre-cracked and ready to eat. These are so juicy and fresh, and though it's pretty pricy, it's definitely worth trying at least once. The service was excellent and all the waiters had friendly attitudes and smiles on their faces, whether they served us specifically or not. I also heard later that the key lime pie and other desserts are great here, but unfortunately our group didn't order any. But I'd love to give them a try if I ever have a chance to stop by again! - Ambiance: 4/5 - Service: 5/5 - Food: 4/5 read more
Joe's Stone Crab absolutely lives up to the hype. Even though we had a reservation, we did have to wait a bit but totally understandable since we were a party of 9 on a Friday night. Once seated, everything else more than made up for it. We ordered a ton of food to share, and the standouts were incredible. The oysters were super fresh, the stone crabs were perfection, the scallops were beautifully done, and the fried chicken was a total surprise hit with the crispy, juicy skin and honestly one of the best things on the table. Not everything was a home run: the lobster mac felt a bit too heavy and cheesy without much flavor, and the Brussels sprouts leaned a little too greasy and sweet. But with seafood this fresh and well-executed, those were minor misses. Overall, an iconic spot with amazing seafood and a fun, lively atmosphere. I'd absolutely come back especially for the stone crabs and oysters. read more
You feel the old Florida feel the moment you step through those doors (that the doorman opens for you ) Service was absolutely impeccable! Our waiter and his assistants were so helpful and told us we could stop ordering because it will be too much (hungry eyes). He was so right. We left with lots of to go boxes. As for the food, I love a good stone crab and a good stone crab was delivered. I wouldn't say it's better than anywhere else, but I would say the key lime pie is and the fried chicken was the cheapest thing on the menu and soooo good!! Not sure how the can charge $9 for all that chicken but who I to judge. Would I go back? Probably not. But it was. Bucket list place for a long time and I'm content with our experience and happy I can check it off the list. read more
Firstly, wow the interior of this place is amazing. It really feels like you are stepping into a serious, but not in a stuffy way, well refined establishment. The place moves like clockwork! All the staff were incredibly friendly, well informed, professional and dressed in the same uniforms with pride, and as they should - congratulations on your 113th's season! The food was really tasty too. We were served a selection of bread before our food came - there was a nice variety with different textures and flavors to try. For a crab claw place, I was really surprised at how good the fried chicken was. The skin was super crispy but not oily. And it came out SO quick, I was shocked. The meat was juicy too. The crazy thing is that it was less than $9 for a serving! It's literally half a chicken! We also got the chilean sea bass. The fish was cooked perfectly and the the sauce it sat on was tasty. I really appreciated the added texture of the crispy potatoes on top! One thing especially appreciated was our server's recommendation against ordering a large sized hash brown and suggested getting a small one to split instead. He was right, it was plenty - we couldn't finish our serving. We had to give their signature stone crabs a try while we were there. It was a little pricey but tasty. Not something I would have frequently, but for special occasions. The meat was sweet and it was nice that the shells were mostly cracked, so easy to eat. Again, service was just fantastic. I really enjoyed my visit and would come again the next time I'm in town. read more
Our dining experience was great! We had reservations for dinner and were seated promptly upon arrival. Other wait staff seemed to be more friendly but our server was just courteous and professional. We ordered a Vouvray white wine bottle to share. It was crisp and refreshing. We were provided with a variety of complimentary bread and butter. Always a nice touch. For food, we got the Select stone crabs, Blackened Grouper, and a side of Sautéed Corn. There was plenty of corn and the grouper had great flavor. We enjoyed the hollandaise sauce it came with. The stone crabs were plentiful for the size we ordered and the meat was tender. Overall, great food and drinks with decent service. Still 5 stars for the great experience itself. read more
If you're visiting Miami, Joe's Stone Crab is one of those places you just have to experience. It's a huge, family-friendly restaurant with classic, old-school steakhouse energy. Not overly stuffy, just timeless. And importantly, you don't have to be a big seafood person to enjoy it. The menu really has something for everyone. We did valet (100% worth it because parking in the area is rough), checked in, and were seated right on time. We asked for an outdoor table and got a quiet corner spot, which ended up being perfect since we had our baby with us. He needed to nurse and nap, and ended up sleeping through most of dinner. Our waitress was so warm and friendly. She mentioned she's a mom too and was incredibly sweet with our baby when he woke up. The rest of the staff were just as kind and attentive, which made the whole experience feel even more welcoming. Food-wise, we went all out: oysters, stone crab (large), a 9oz filet mignon, lobster tail, hash browns, garlic broccolini, and apple pie à la mode. Everything was excellent. We basically cleaned every plate. Even my husband, who normally isn't into crab, loved the crab claws. Yes, it's expensive, but it feels worth it for the quality, the service, and the overall experience. Honestly, I can't think of a single negative. Would absolutely come back. read more

It is no wonder Joes has been in business so long! The stone crab legs were exquisite! The fried chicken was crispy. The brownie sundae was an amazing treat to Top off diner with. Chris our server made 1st visit memorable. The ambiance is amazing i imagined everyone dressed like the 20s the inside is beautiful and all the original architectural details are an amazing detail. With everything so expensive in south beach i felt that the prices were very reasonable especially considering the amazing food quality and superior ambiance. Joes exceeded my expectations and is an institution not a tourist trap. read more
Not that Joe's stone crabs needs another review but it needs to be said again and again why they keep being year after year the best restaurant in Miami. After not coming here for years.. Joe's is definitely top on the recommended list of restaurants in South Florida that anyone should try. The service, ambiance, and of course the food makes this place very special. We made reservations and our table was ready when promised. From the moment you walk in, your experience begins with great service and a great full bar should you need to wait... or maybe you just want a nice cocktail while waiting for friends. Once seated, everything happens fast but with no rush at all... if that makes any sense. The wine list if spectacular and the menu has a little for every palate. The crab bisque is one of our favorite appetizers... super flavorful and not to thick. Of course the dishe of the night are the stone crabs (pick your size) but the select or large are perfect for sharing. Key Lime pie is always on point and the perfect way to end the night. If you haven't been here... think no more and head there. read more

Not really the type of restaurant I would typically choose, but was very well executed for what it is. This place is a throwback to a different time. Great service, simple rich food, good cocktails. We got the largest size of crab claws available and they were impressive. Th only real downsides were that it was busy and quite expensive. If you have cash to flash, this is a great place to do it. read more

Joe's Stone Crab is an absolute must-visit. We sat at the bar and soaked in the atmosphere while enjoying a few items from their limited menu. The stone crab with that famous mustard sauce lived up to the hype, and we also really enjoyed the burger, hash browns, and tuna tartar with wasabi chips. After our meal, we stopped by the Takeaway next door for some fried chicken and Key Lime pie. Honestly, that pie was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life, and I'd go back for a slice of it alone. We even grabbed a cookie and a rice crispy treat to go, both of which were delicious. read more

I have been to Joe Stone crab at least 200 times and I have to say I'm very disappointed at what has been happening there today. I went to the takeout section and I ordered over $200 in items. The woman who gave me my food when the buzzer ring was extremely rude I mean very rude and very nasty for absolutely no reason at all some of the dressings were missing she told me sorry she messed up the order but you need to pay an extra dollar 50 per dressing really why do I have to pay $1.50 per dressing what I'm spending $40 on a lobster Reuben are you guys kidding me and then even after all that stuff she didn't even have the class or the thoughtfulness to put forks and knives inside of my bag how am I supposed to eat takeout it's a Takeaway counter restaurant. How am I supposed to do that? If you don't put forks knives this was the worst experience. I'm tired of it. It's not what it used to be. I'm not coming back. read more

Very busy restaurant. Wait time was average. The ambiance was in full effect. Staff was very nice & pleasant. Food was delicious, must try the mac & lobster & the cole slaw. Snow crabs = delicious. Fried Chicken = nice & lightly fried. Chocolate brownie & ice cream = get it! read more
Joes is an institution in Miami and it was a must on your trip. Service and food was incredible. As odd as this sounds the fried chicken was the stand out. The beautiful golden fried chicken was perfect. It was incredibly affordable given where we were at. The key lime pie was great as well. 5 star experience. read more

Excellent attentive service, seafood was delicious (but very rich and buttery), key lime pie was great. The dining room decor could probably use a bit of attention, it's looking a little weathered. Bar was beautifully decorated and the drinks were great. read more

You can't lose out with Joe's Stone crab. It has so much old Miami flair and the food is fresh and delicious. And don't miss out on the half fried chicken. It's one of the best I've had in a long time. But it goes without saying the stone crabs are second to none. I've had it in other places and you cannot compare. It is pricey, but it is worth it. Went for Miami Spice and let me tell you the food was amazing!! I would've given it 5 stars but I took one off for service. I felt like the waiter no longer cared about serving us once he knew we weren't ordering a la carte but off of the prefix $60 diner menu instead The tuna tartar was the best I may have ever had! Most disappointing experience. I can only speak for the cocktails and desserts. The burger and fries looked good but didn't try them. We were told the Key Lime Pie was worth the journey and one of the best in Florida. Its taste was bland and were certain it was just frozen and store-bought. The whipped cream had an onion-like scent and taste to it too. Not worth the $30 for two slices. read more

Just how "strict" is the dress code? According to the website,"Dress Code is business casual & is strictly enforced. NO athletic wear and NO beach wear is permitted." but, based on photos, pretty sure shorts and flip flops aren't biz-casual
Me and my 3 kids weren't dressed for this nice restaurant but they still seat us and had a wonderful person attend to us, but it would be nice to dress up a little bit if ur up to it.

The menu is available, but I dont think Joe's serves lasagna. I looked in the menu and its not listed.

Cold. They are served with a mustard dipping sauce too that's amazing.

What is the difference in the different choices of crab claws on the menu. Is it the size of the claws or the number you get?
They are all 1 pound. The difference is in size - bigger ones has more meat vs the shell

You can't bring in your own wine to my knowledge. They have a full bar and wine list.
Is there a dog friendly (out side)?
Yes..they have an outdoor patio area you can eat with and have your dog accompany you.
