Stubborn Seed in Miami Beach delivers an inventive tasting menu that makes it easy to see why they earned a Michelin star. The 8-course meal had a distinct Southern flair that felt both creative and refreshing. Highlights included the warm biscuit piled high with shaved cheese and served with tangy pickles, the super fresh oyster starter, and the tender beef course with rich sauce and crispy toppings. The sweet finish with the berry cake and chocolate bite rounded out the flavors nicely. The only real drawback was the service pace. The team was very friendly, but they seemed noticeably understaffed for the dinner rush, getting a bit flustered at times and even bringing out a course without cutlery. Still, the dishes themselves were flavorful and beautifully presented. With a little more support on the floor, the whole experience would be top-tier!

Food was great - tasted amazing, but portions were small. The reaturant itself wss on the plainer side, but ambiance to start was good, up until a girl from the table next to us threw up all over the table, floor and cushions. The presentation and information about what the food was, the service and wines were all very good. I do wish the portions would increase, otherwise you'd have to go somewhere else to eat after dinner here. Also - it would be great to hand folks a menu so we can follow along about what each dish was - it was hard to remember what we ate and what we liked best, as each dish had a lot of different ingredients.

My husband and I visited Stubborn Seed while on vacation in Miami after hearing great things and seeing the Michelin star recognition. We've dined at well over a dozen Michelin-starred restaurants, so we came in excited and with a good sense of what to expect from this style of dining. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The dining room is intimate with a relatively small number of tables, and the open kitchen creates a great atmosphere. The space is dark and moody with unique artwork, comfortable seating, and a level of attention to detail that carries throughout the entire experience. The staff was excellent, attentive without being intrusive, and every interaction felt polished and professional. When making a reservation, you're required to select either the 6-course or 9-course tasting menu in advance. We initially chose the 6-course menu but upgraded to the 9-course because we were concerned the portions might be too small. In hindsight, that concern was justified. The craftsmanship of the food is undeniable. Every dish was beautifully plated and technically impressive. Standout courses included the yellowtail, which had a wonderful lingering spice, and an oyster preparation that incorporated multiple elements and textures in a very creative way. We also added the Australian Wagyu enhancement, which ended up replacing the duck course. While the portion was only a couple of small slices, it was one of the best bites of the evening. The accompanying mushroom, puree, and reduction sauce were outstanding. Dessert was another highlight. The olive oil cake combined fruit, floral elements, cookies, and multiple textures in a way that felt refined and balanced. Nothing throughout the meal was overly rich or heavy-handed. Every course was thoughtful, nuanced, and technically well-executed. For drinks, I highly recommend the Mango Tree cocktail. It tasted like an elevated mango lassi and was one of my favorite parts of the evening. Our biggest criticism is the portion size relative to the price. Even after nine courses, my husband was still hungry at the end of the meal. I was satisfied, but just barely. If you're someone with a larger appetite, I would strongly recommend eating something beforehand or planning for a late-night snack afterward. The wine pricing was also difficult for us to justify. While we understand restaurant markups, several selections felt significantly overpriced compared to what could be purchased at retail. Our final bill for two 9-course tasting menus, two glasses of wine, a cocktail, and the Wagyu enhancement came to over $660 before tip. Overall, Stubborn Seed absolutely delivers on creativity, technique, presentation, service, and atmosphere. If this is your first Michelin-star experience, it's a fantastic introduction to fine dining. However, if you've visited many Michelin-starred restaurants before, be prepared for exceptionally small portions and a very high price point. Would we recommend it? Yes, for the culinary artistry and experience. Would we personally return? Probably not. While we appreciated the quality and craftsmanship, the value proposition wasn't there for us given the portion sizes and overall cost.

The food will take you places. Our journey was magical and special in so many ways. My daughter and I went here for dinner on vacation and I don't know where to start.. we had so many dishes because we choose to go with the full dining experience and it was sooo worth it and I completely understand why they have a Michelin star! Ousters, pork loin, macaron with caviar (life changing) the service was amazing as the staff goes above and beyond explaining each dish to elevate the experience. Being able to see the staff work on each dish and the feel of the restraint fit perfect and as far as the ambiance you can definitely see and feel the chef's personality through the restaurant and employees alike.

Evidence the menu I wanted was available.

Barren Seed For a milestone birthday I wanted to go with something that represented living vicariously through the life of someone who attained a career I once dreamed of. Not saying I'm unhappy at all with my career, but most people who know me also know from early on I aspired to become a renowned chef. Limitations at the time didn't make that possible, but the culinary arts remain a core part of who I am. Entered how impressed we were last year with the Miami Spice menu that on the spot I selected Stubborn Seed as the venue for my milestone birthday. Enter a process, meal, and aftermath made to the horror model of movies like Sinners. Let me start with the reservation. I booked in October 2025 to ensure we would have the place booked for my birthday. At the time we had a placeholder menu which we would adjust closer to the date. I was told then the 6 course menu would not be available. Closer to the date I saw on the website the 6 course menu was indeed available. In reaching out to the team member who took my reservation and contract, she told me the 6 course menu was not available on Fridays. From what you can see in the pictures, it was available. Then we wonder why Miami gets the reputation it does... ...finally we settled on the 6 course meny after all. My party showed up and we had a great time. Most courses were really solid. Notable was the first course, the cured Ginger & Citrus Cured Japanese Yellowtail. Everything kept moving in a definite crescendo until the let down of the main course. The Koji Marinated Lamb Loin was better billed as the "mini loin" as it was indeed incredibly small. I considered summoning Avenger level superpowers to reduce my people in size to the Wasp to make this work somehow. Unfortunately I don't possess such superpowers. If only. But that was not all. Wait for it... ...There was not one single acknowledgment by anyone in the restaurant staff about my milestone birthday. Not a thank you for selecting us. Not a mention by the manager or anyone on the staff. Not even a gesture during dessert. Even the most elegant of restaurants do something. Even a plated decoration acknowledging the occasion would have sufficed. I wasn't asking for Longhorn Steakhouse staff type of fanfare but something would have been adequate. Nothing. But wait, there's more... ...when settling the check I mentioned I had prepaid for the 10 tasting menus ahead of time leaving on premises consumption for payment on site. At the restaurante they looked into it and came back with that the prepayment was never charged. Given I was with my guests that was neither the time nor the place, so I settled the bill with the intent on checking this later. I did and they had indeed double charged me $2,000. Needless to say I had to bring this up to them including opening a dispute with my credit card after days went by without a follow up on where my refund stood. No offense ladies and gentlemen, but this mistake should have never taken place in the first place... All in all, not even they have the power to ruin what was one of the most memorable evenings of my life. Why? because I was surrounded by some of the most amazing human beings who took time to share this birthday with me. I love them and am grateful to have them in my life. That was the main event. The hopes was having a similar amazing experience with the meal at Stubborn Seed would be the icing on the case. It was not. Fortunately for me they didn't add anything, but more importantly, they didn't take anything away. That said, since Michelin doesn't judge a restaurant for portion size or service, I thought I myself would take something away - the veil on a restaurant that is evidently self indulgent and does not and will not care about you. You are not the star, and you never will be. Recommendations: Read "Unreasonable Hospitality" by Will Guidara - you may learn a bit just from the title itself, more if you crack the book open. Attending a Hospitality program somewhere (doesn't have to be Cornell at this point!)

Stubborn seed was a bit of an enigma for me, perhaps because I was swept up in the michelin star rating which set my expectations higher. This was without doubt the most casual starred restaurant I've dined at. Service was fine, but should there be missing place settings and lapses in resetting? Runners who brought food ranged from those who knew the dish perfectly to a few who struggled with the ingredients. Now, let's get real, did this diminish my enjoyment? Absolutely not, but it was a surprise. We're accustomed to much more polished service at home and when visiting Miami. Perhaps the biggest negative is that there wasn't a single course that wowed me. Some were very good, and some that I really didn't enjoy. Again, a matter of taste perhaps, and always a risk with a tasting menu. Following that, as others have said, the restaurant is quite dark. I would have loved to be able to better see some of the dishes brought to me. There is no lighting on the table and the room is very dark. The first course (bread) was very nice, and I enjoyed the creative miso butter that accompanied. In contrast, I had high hope for the Raviolo course, but it had an intensely bitter green (think brocolli rabe bitter), and all of us found it off putting. The main course, duck was the strongest of everything served. I would suggest giving a try to decide for yourself, but this was not one of the stronger dinners we've enjoyed in Miami.

Somewhat underwhelming experience across food and service. Stubborn Seed is located in the heart of south pointe where there are tons of good dining options. The restaurant is dimly lit and has a partially open kitchen. The service is not up to par for the type of experience they are trying to convey. Our waiter seemed to struggle to deliver the memorized description of each dish which can really throw a tasting menu off. For the ravioli dish we asked that the pork not be included. No substitution was made at all for the only protein on the dish which was odd enough without our waiter being so matter of fact about the lack of alternative and gawking at us like it was such a strange question. The food was good but not great. We went with the 9 course menu for $175pp. The highlights were the foie gras (but it is a pâté) and the dessert (which is by the pastry chef and was the saving grace of the meal). Our signature cocktails were very good as well. Besides that I do not have too much to say about the food. The biggest let down was the ravioli which was meant to have a runny egg yolk inside but when we broke it apart it was quite set. Overall lackluster experience and it feels like the passion just is not there - if you are well accustomed to tasting menus I would skip this one.

Wow, wow, wow... how have I not come here sooner?! Stubborn Seed in Miami Beach completely blew me away, and it's crystal clear why they've held a Michelin star three years in a row. It's beyond well deserved. We couldn't get a table and ended up at the bar, but honestly, it didn't take away from the experience at all. Our bartender/server was fantastic, recommending cocktails that were spot-on. I had the melin one and loved it and my friend had the corn and tequila cocktail, which sounded unusual but turned out to be incredible. They started us with a little bread and spread that instantly set the tone for the rest of what was to follow ..it was simple yet unforgettable. From there we had the Red Belgian Endive & Summer Peach Salad which was tarragon green, brown butter croutons, Ford's Farm lang yang with a banana & ginger vinaigrette. Unlike any salad I've ever had. Fresh, layered, and bursting with flavor. We also had the Crunchy Truffle Bravas which was like crispy potatoes with garlic crumbs, aged parmesan, and a squeeze of lime. Absolute perfection. For mains, we tried the beef cheeks which were fall apart tender, rich, and deeply flavorfull and the lamb ravioli. Both unforgettable, both so distinct. Dessert was on another level. The Feta Banana Flan with fig caramel and banana vinegar ice cream and the Guava & Cheese Cheesecake with pineapple and cheese ice cream were equally phenomenal. I still can't decide which I loved more. Every dish was so creative ,fresh, unique, and truly a "wow" moment. The service was equally outstanding. Each plate was brought out and presented with an explanation of the ingredients, many of which come straight from the chef's own farm. Talk about next level dining. Stubborn Seed is an absolute must. Worth every bit of hype and recognition. And we came to find out as well that the chef has six other restaurants as well one . He has a stubborn seed in Vegas , one in plantation and launching and opening a new one in Aruba called Terra!

Parking was surprisingly easy--there's a lot very close by and plenty of street parking. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere, and I loved the open kitchen concept. We went for Miami Spice, and while the starters were just okay, the entrees really stood out--full of flavor and perfectly executed. The dessert was absolutely out of this world, and their cocktails were also delicious. Our waiter, Steven, made the experience even better. He was attentive, friendly, and really on top of everything. Overall, the food and service completely won us over. I definitely want to come back to try their elevated tasting menu!

We visited this place to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was my second time here, but on this visit we decided to explore the tasting menu experience. The space is pleasant and well designed--more casual than formal, but still inviting and comfortable. We opted for the 6-course menu. We considered the 9-course option, but the additional items included oysters, foie gras, and clams, which are not our preference. Overall, every dish was excellent. The execution, presentation, and flavor were consistently impressive. The agnolotti was a standout--rich, balanced, and full of flavor. The pavlova was my favorite, with a unique texture and flavor profile that really stood out. The lamb was also very good, though I would have preferred a slightly crispier skin, as it felt a bit soggy. Some of the courses were more like amuse-bouche--very small, one-bite portions that are usually complementary in a tasting menu. Because of this, the experience felt closer to a 4-course meal, including dessert. The pacing between courses was occasionally too long, especially considering the one bite size of some dishes. Based on that , I would prefer to stick with the à la carte menu on a future visit.  For drinks, some of us chose cocktails while others selected the wine pairing. The wine pairing was excellent--well curated, generously poured, and fairly priced. I would definitely recommend it. The cocktails, however, were less consistent. The Facundo and the Corn Whisper were too sweet for a dinner setting, the Heat Wave was too high in acidity, and the "signature" Old Fashioned felt standard. Cocktails also took too long to arrive, although the service made up for the delay by offering one complimentary. Service overall was excellent--friendly, attentive, and very detail-oriented. The presentation of each dish was also carefully executed and added to the experience. Most importantly, the food here is outstanding--easily among the best in Miami. This is definitely a place worth visiting, and one I would happily return to.

Stubborn Seed has been on my list for years and I finally had the chance to come for their Miami Spice menu and had a wonderful experience. The food, atmosphere and especially service were all outstanding. The Miami Spice menu has 2 choices for each course, so I recommend getting both for each to try. The stand outs were the Beef Cheek and Flan. You could cut the beef with a spoon! We also did the wine pairing, which is a great deal for the amount and caliber of wine you get. Our server was so friendly and attentive, offering complimentary bites and wine top offs. Truly made the night. If you have been wanting to try Stubborn Seed, don't miss out on this great chance to go!

Stubborn Seed was a FANTASTIC dining experience from start to finish. This Michelin star restaurant truly deserves its rating. My friend and I sat at the bar. The restaurant was small and intimate. I loved every single detail from the real plant that was gently placed to secure our dinner napkin to all the dishware and utensils. We ordered and shared the Miami Spice menu which was more than enough food for 2. We were contently full after the entire meal. There were 3 courses per person included in that. We ordered the truffle bravas and peach salad for the first course, the beef cheek and lamb ravioli for the second course, and the flan plus guava/cheese gateau for dessert. With every dish came a unique explosion of multiple flavors in our mouth. The gentlemen that brought the courses to our bar top were extremely knowledgeable and explained each and every dish from start to finish. Everything we ordered was spectacular. The food items were not items you normally saw on a menu. I loved the uniqueness of all the items. Service was on point. Everyone checked in on us every few minutes and all were kind and professional. Again, I have quite an appetite and thought the Miami spice menu was the perfect amount in terms of portion sizing. Wonderful experience!

WOW!!! I was impressed! "Creative" upscale dining like this is typically not my thing, but I was blown away by dinner here. We went for Spice, although two of us do not eat land-based meat and there was only duck and beef as the mains on the Spice menu. We explained that when we were seated and the server offered to substitute the halibut instead for us. Yes, please! Aside from the generous sub, the service was on point! Perfectly attentive and friendly without being overbearing or stuffy! After we ordered, we were brought brioche buns with a savory butter. Delightful! The next little amuse bouche was oysters with a beef tallow foam. The other non-meat eater and myself ceded ours to our dining companions, who enjoyed them very much (pro-tip - they are nestled in a bed of gravel; it is NOT edible!). The starters ordered were the endive salad, the patatas and the sashimi. The endive salad was bright and crisp, with a delightfully umami dressing. I tasted a bite of the sashimi and that was the only disappointment. The fish seemed a bit mealy and tasted quite fishy. I skipped sampling the patatas as they were truffled, something that I do not like! The halibut was a delight! Tender, flaky with a delicate broth and a ripe tomato garnish. The desserts were not overly sweet and of course, presented in a lovely manner, worthy of a Hollywood handshake! I thought the dining room was kind of blah and industrial, but I get that the focus is really on the food, and not the atmosphere. The acoustics were not great either... it was naturally very loud, and nearing the end of our meal, the volume was turned up on the music, adding to the noise. We had brought a good bottle of wine and the corkage was $50. All in all, this meal was quite memorable!

Walking in you get that old school feel with the staff dressed to the tee and very friendly. Our server was professional and terse but in a way that I didn't mind and he even scolded some other busboys for taking too long to clear our table which I found funny but appreciated too. I started with the Stuffies which were amazing! The baked clams were dressed up nicely and these were very tasty. The stone crabs were delicious and I loved the dipping sauce it came with. Granted we visited outside of stone crab season and so I'd love to come back when the crabs are more fresh and in season. It also came with sides of hash browns, creamed spinach, and a grilled tomato. While I appreciate the quantity and variety they gave, these sides were a miss for me. The pre fixe concluded with my choice of the Key Lime Pie which was a nice ending for the meal. Nicely balanced between tart and sweetness. My only note would be for the crust layer to be bigger since it would help balance out the pie portion a bit better. We also got the fried chicken which is a steal for only $9. Excellent and crispy skin and very moist! The only dry piece was the breast unfortunately, but otherwise it's hard to find a better fried chicken at this price.

But, when I saw they were advertising a Lamb Gyro for $12 (Tuesdays), I took the leap. Seems it wasn't that far to jump. Although there were table cloths, cloth napkins and silverware, with room for a true dining experience, the fan sitting atop the bar, (blowing-off more air than necessary), and the plastic plants on the walls/ceilings threw-off any pretense I had of the place. When I requested the Lamb Gyro, the server pointed to an entree on the menu for me to approve. I made sure there wasn't another (re: pricier) offer. There was... it was the one he suggested. The gyro itself consisted of a bland (Tzatziki?) sauce that struggled to find my taste buds. Lamb (typically) has a gamey/slightly sweet flavor; these cuts seemed to be found from behind their refrigerator, (not from inside). They certainly weren't cut fresh from a spit, as they were old and nearly tasteless. The included slices of onion and peppers, delegated to the pita bottom, (instead of intermingling) barely helped. The French fries (included in the price) were the most flavorful part of the meal; although, they were an insult, rather than accompaniment to the experience. And, was that Latin (instead of traditional Greek) music coming from the speakers? Along with a 20% "Administrative" fee, I won't be tempted to venture in again.

The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The bar isn't very large, but it comfortably accommodates a good number of guests. The atmosphere is quiet, relaxed, and perfect for a leisurely meal or cocktail. On my first day at the hotel, I stopped in for a late lunch. Tania, my waitress, was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout my visit. In fact, every member of the staff I encountered while coming and going from the hotel was pleasant, welcoming, and courteous. I ordered the bruschetta, the shrimp and calamari salad, and an Espresso Martini. The bruschetta was fresh, with flavorful tomatoes and perfectly toasted bread. The shrimp and calamari salad was outstanding fresh, generously portioned, and beautifully prepared. The appetizers were so filling that I can only imagine how generous the entrée portions must be. Overall, it was a wonderful first dining experience, and I'd gladly return.

Unfortunately, nothing pops out about Osteria Positano. Nothing from the bread, to the steak, to the ribeye to the coffee. Just average. At nearly $300 plus for a family of 4, I'd suggest you go elsewhere. Cheers to better eats Yelpers xx
