We have tried all of Thomas Keller's restaurants and ultimately everything turned out to be very good but never great. This is how I would describe the Surf Club. The menu consists of well known dishes but there are no surprises - everything is cooked well and tasty but not memorable. The best dish is the Ceasar's salad which is prepared table side, using raw eggs (!) and is a must-order simply for the show. Everything seemed to order it. The crab cakes were very good - crispy crust and big chunks of crab with a spicy mayo on the side - worth it. Lumache Alla Vodka was also good, with the pasta cooked just right and a nice spicy kick to the sauce. The almonds on the European Sea Bass made the fish - toasted and slightly caramelized paired with a very good sea bass. Get it if you are in the mood. The oysters Rockefeller are simply ok but not worth reordering. The chocolate layer cake was also very good but not extraordinary and typically of any good pastry shop's version. Finally the service is what you would expect of a Michelin Star, which was precise and well executed although our waiter has a pretty bland personality compared to the guy serving the table next to us. read more

The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with amazing architecture and such cute pink vibes that made the whole atmosphere feel elegant and fun at the same time. Came here for a business dinner and everything we ordered was incredible. We had the crudo, oysters, crab cakes, pork belly, cheesecake dessert, and the fish special I ordered for my entree was amazing. I also had to try a bite of the ribeye Wagyu and it was so good. The Surf Club is an absolute experience -- every bit as iconic as you hope it will be. From the moment you walk in, the décor is a sight to behold. You truly feel transported into 1950s glamour: elegant, timeless, and effortlessly cool. A detail I loved immediately -- the women are given adorable leather stools for their clutch bags upon arrival. Such a small touch, but it sets the tone that they've thought of everything. Despite being incredibly busy and packed (we felt very lucky to snag a reservation), the service was unreal. The staff was overly attentive in the best way -- we genuinely felt like we were the only table in the room. The bread service and rolls alone were some of our top favorites and thankfully included. As for drinks, most of us leaned into the extensive wine list, but I had an extra dirty martini with blue cheese olives, the Cougar Club, and an espresso martini -- all executed perfectly. What's impressive is how they elevate even the simplest cocktails into something memorable. This philosophy carries over to the food. They somehow take a "simple" Caesar salad or fettuccine Alfredo and turn it into the best version you've ever had. We loved the Alfredo so much we ordered a second one -- no regrets. I'm not usually a deviled egg person, but those who ordered them (you can get them individually, which is great) said they were the best they've ever had. Of course, we had to get the signature Caesar made tableside, which was excellent -- but the avocado salad with Russian dressing completely upstaged it for me. One of the specials was a scallop crudo served on a beautiful shell, finished with basil oil that made you want to lick the shell clean. We also ordered the special pasta with shaved truffle -- light, elegant, and very tasty -- though honestly, the fettuccine Alfredo is just as good (if not better) at a much friendlier price point. I'm already planning to try the vodka sauce pasta next time. For mains, the steak was cooked perfectly, as expected -- but the true star of the show was the lobster Thermidor. Unbelievable. Served warm with a rich cream sauce, it's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave. We shared Brussels sprouts and whipped mashed potatoes as sides. They were delicious, but portions are on the smaller side -- definitely plan on ordering one per person if you're hungry. It was an odd but beautiful mix of feeling like NY/Manhattan glam vibes, but very Miami in color palette if that make sense. THE FOOD: Upon being seated, were were given water, hot fresh bread and a selection of veggies with a dill/yogurt sauce - all tasty 5/5. For drinks, I had "El Diablo" sweet but refreshing 4/5 and my husband an old fashioned 5/5. For apps, we had the Rockefeller oysters, cooked oysters with spinach and cheese (?), outstanding 1000/5. Came here on a Sunday with my cousin to enjoy a late lunch. The scene was perfect for co-working or having a cup of coffee before starting the day. We had to wait about an hour after learning they serve Sunday brunch buffet until 3p for $125 & we couldn't order from the regular menu until then. We ordered a round of drinks - I had a zero proof Lemon City (not 100% on the 0 proof cause I definitely felt a little buzzed). It was interesting and tasted like they used egg whites. Ordering from the Champagne Bar menu, I ordered a chicken club and my cousin had the bolognese. The chicken club was huge and delicious - the mustard mayo was a little overpowering but everything else was on point. My cousin loved her pasta. We ordered another round of mocktails to wash it down - this time being a zero proof Espresso which was good but as you can see had way too much head (foam) on it; if they scale back on the foam, it'd be perfect. Food aside, the experience was great! All servers were attentive and the interior design is beautiful. They knew we were waiting for the regular menu and still made it a point to communicate with us as shifts were changing. The complimentary bread and fruit was good, the fancy butter was a nice touch. I forgot to take a picture of main course but we had the Dover Sole Meunière, (serves two people) it was good but I personally didn't like the texture of this fish as it was kind of tough but this is a personal preference, the flavor was great though and my fiancé loved it! Thomas Keller's Surf Club truly lives up to its reputation as a classy establishment. Calling Keller a game changer for the dining experience feels absolutely fair. The most striking proof is undoubtedly the staff - impeccably well-trained, genuinely attentive, and deeply knowledgeable about everything. Then, of course, there's the food. I'd categorize the cuisine as contemporary American with a strong, classic French backbone, which is pure Thomas Keller. Every single entree was a perfect 10/10. Maybe next time I'd skip the oysters as an appetizer, though. For mains, we went with the lobster Thermidor, the Turbot grenobloise, and their true ribeye. Across the board, each dish was astounding. The Thermidor had that classic, almost old-fashioned richness, but it was utterly delicious and impossible to resist. The Turbot? Honestly, probably the best fish I've ever eaten. The true ribeye delivered exactly what you'd hope for: beautifully marbled and cooked to absolute perfection. Wow. We couldn't resist sampling four desserts: the Peach Cobbler Ice Cream, the chocolate layer cake, the blueberry compote cheesecake, and a special Strawberry Charlotte (their take on a French Tiramisu). If you're not rich, however, and think this is going to be a foodie experience that is worth the splurge, let me stop you from making a huge mistake. This is one the most overrated restaurants in all of Miami. What a monumental disappointment after hearing so much hype about this place! Famous chef and Michelin star - what a joke! Calling the food mediocre would be generous. Crab cake - one tiny crab cake not even large enough to share for $32! One lousy lasagna that tasted like a reheated frozen food lasagna from the grocery store $46! One of the tiniest pieces of salmon I've ever seen a restaurant serve $54! $167 total for the worst meal I've ever had in my life and to add insult to injury $32 for valet on top of that. The place was empty and only two other tables by the time we left at peak dinner time. Four servers or bus boys literally watching us like a hawk to the point where my mom and I totally felt uncomfortable and couldn't wait to leave. I get it about providing good service, but this was overkill. Do you really need to stand there and watch me chew and listen to every word of our conversation. Some space please. So stuffy. The usual trying to get you to order more. Glad we didn't. Left hungry after flushing $200 down the drain. Go to literally any other restaurant in Miami and you'll get more value and better food. This restaurant is a whole Miami scene. There are many who's who at this spot. You arrive to the valet of the four seasons hotel on Miami Beach. They have a fairly diverse menu they offer some daily specials across all courses. We started out with two standard classic drinks an old fashioned and an extra dirty martini. Both drinks boozy and made perfectly. We opted for 2 appetizer the crab cake and the salad - was much like a wedge but cut in a round and had tomato , bacon , onion and delicious blue cheese cubes... the dressing was bright and fresh. The server his name leaves me ... he was from France. Highly attentive and explained everything wonderfully. He brought out the beef options to see . We were toying around with the beef Wellington but they only serve medium rare which we didn't want. We bother opted for the rib eye was 11 oz. Precooked . It came out beautifully, perfectly cooked. We also added on the mashed potatoes which honestly were not special ... but still good. We also had the roasted Brussel sprouts those also were unremarkable but good. We had to Try a dessert... the special was the pineapple upside down cake which is served warm ... this made other decision easier. The server recommended the coconut cake which was so Good . It was more of a cream log minimal cake with a lime taste . All in all great choice , service was strong . The ambiance was special . The hotel has a beautiful presence. Parking: Valet is available at a reasonable price. There isn't street parking nearby. The valet service is prompt, professional and well dressed. Also, when you pull up, it looks like a castle. The valet guy opens two huge doors and you feel like you are walking into a huge palace! Drinks: Drinks where delish. The bartenders are super nice and they dress like they are from back in the 50's. They look like they are in a speak easy. Food: Okay, this is a FOOD EXPERIENCE! We had chips/dip, ceaser salad, brussel sprouts, Dom Perignon, crudite, truffle, potato wedges, ribeye, new york strip, salmon, creamed spinach and a sampling of all the desserts. The MVP goes to the DOVER SOLE. It isn't easy to find Dover Sole in the US but they found it and they did it well. It was possibly the best Dover Sole I've ever had. It was priced at $130 but it is actually for two - so $65 isn't bad for an entree! Service: It was a 9/10. Another superb dining experience from Chef Keller, this time set in the historic Four Seasons Surf Club. Memorable old-school menu with Keller gourmet touches. The meals starts with a beautiful, meticulous relish tray. The Petit Plateau will please seafood fans, with ample oysters on the half shell, crudo du jour, and Gulf prawn cocktail. The iceberg salad and steak tartare were indulgent and impeccable appetizers. All of the entrees were outstanding including a heavenly lobster thermidor, and the exceptional Ora king salmon and lumache alla vodka. The coconut cake and sundae were indulgent; the only miss of the night was the chocolate cake, which was far too savory for the discerning chocoholics in my party. The wine list is excellent, including exceptional options by the glass. A highlight of the evening was that Chef Keller was in the house the night we were there, and stopped by to chat. The Surf Club has two areas where there is room for improvement: 1) the valet parking is exorbitant, at $35. It's particularly disappointing because on-the-street parking in the area is almost non-existent. Most other upscale Miami restaurants don't charge that much. And 2) the Champagne Bar in the lobby, where you'll need to wait if you arrive early, has a nice ambience, provides an excellent relish tray with olives and other munchies, and has a nice selection of Champagnes and wines by the glass. But the prices are excessive. For example, cocktails run $24-29 each, a glass of Gosset Grand Reserve goes for $42 (a full bottle retails for $64 at your local wine store), and a glass of Pascal Jolivet Sancerre will set you back $26. Nevertheless, if you're ready to splurge on a memorable dinner, the Surf Club definitely merits its Michelin star. read more

We came here for a friend's birthday and had a great time! The ambiance is great, especially the decor. Service was fantastic. The waiter let me know if any item the table ordered wasn't vegetarian (even if it had gelatin). Parking was valet, which was $35, and the drop-off was this hidden driveway with a tiny plaque that I almost missed. At the restaurant, they provided complimentary veggies on ice with dip, which was very tasty! I appreciated it because I was the only vegetarian at the table, so I didn't partake in most of the appetizers. The bread and butter was also delicious. The bread was flaky and warm, almost like a croissant, and the butter came in a cool contraption that was fun to see. I ordered the eggplant parm, and they grated cheese and basil over the top. It was very tasty. We also ordered the seasonal Christmas log, the gelato platter, and the chocolate cake for dessert. The peach gelato was delicious and the best! My Godmother had arranged for a surprise gift certificate for the occasion, with the kind and oh so helpful Elena in reservations, with whom she said was an absolute gem! The room itself is detailed with an Italian Seaside Elegance, beautiful Floral arrangements everywhere, lovely oversized banquets, and hand painted nautical scenes. The charming waitstaff was always on point, incredibly professional, and most welcoming. They attended to our every need, and made us feel so special! Our Drinks were delicious, and our menu selections just incredibly delicious. I'm fortunate to have eaten at both The French Laundry and now The Surf Club and both are magnificent experiences but in different ways. The French Laundry is a multiple course tasting menu while The Surf Club is a more standard À la carte menu where you can pick what you want to eat. I prefer this restaurant for that reason. Definitely order the Caesar salad as they prepare it in front of you and is delicious. Maybe, if you're lucky, you'll get invited to tour the kitchen after dinner as I was (what an extra treat). read more

At first I thought, man, I should worn Miami weather attire, but it was perfectly fine because there are fans throughout and there was a breeze. We were seated absolutely right on time, promptly attended to, and well taken care of throughout the meal. The menu is fairly simple. Elevated takes on classic dishes of another era as well as some more modern fare. Offerings included Beef Wellington, Lobster Thermidor, Steak Tartar, Oysters Rockefeller, Classic Caesar Salad, and Crab Cake. Nice cocktails also made well. Bartender made 2 special request drinks that were very good. Desserts also were just elevated standards...chocolate cake, cheesecake, ice cream sundae. Several items are prepared or finished table side which is always fun to watch. Everything was very good, good quality, prepared correctly and as ordered. Not one thing I didn't like. That being said, not one thing that blew me away either. This is perfectly fine food. But honestly, for about $200 per person, I damn well better be blown away. We all left saying yes, very nice. The Four Seasons Hotel is likely one of the most beautiful hotels in Miami. Nestled in the Southwest corner of it is the fabulous, Michelin Star awarded, Surf Club. I wish I took more photos because it was certainly like dining in a photograph. From the table settings to the lighting, everything was so gorgeous. We shared the chopped salad that had the best bacon folded into it. My husband had an incredible rib eye for dinner. It was cooked to perfection and was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I selected the creamy and decadent fettuccine alfredo. We finished off the meal with espressos and a chocolate cake that was surprisingly not too sweet. We had a wonderful time here and look forward to returning. read more
