We had dinner reservations in the downstairs lounge for a bachelorette group, and every single one of us gave this place a 10/10. To be fair, service was pretty slow at first--we didn't even have menus for a while. The restaurant had a full buyout event earlier and seemed to be playing catch-up. Our waitress was very apologetic, but initially we were definitely frustrated with the wait. Once the food and drinks started coming out, though, everything changed. Every dish was absolutely delicious and felt elevated and luxurious. Our favorites were the spicy tuna crispy rice, lamb chops, and beetroot maki. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our evening at MILA started poorly when we were seated beneath an air-conditioning vent that repeatedly dripped water onto my partner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After requesting a different table, we noticed that staff continued seating other guests there despite the ongoing leak; those diners also ended up asking to be moved for the same reason. We ordered cocktails along with the edamame, chicken yakitori, caviar potato millefeuille, MILA house salad, Wagyu gyoza, the 2-lb grilled branzino, and the lava cake with pistachio ice cream. Unfortunately, all of the appetizers arrived only lukewarm rather than hot. Although the branzino was served hot, it was noticeably underseasoned and still contained bones despite being presented as deboned. The lava cake itself was also served cold. The restaurant enforces a strict two-hour dining limit. While we finished within the allotted time, it was uncomfortable to watch staff hovering over the adjacent table and urging the guests to wrap up their meal. It was also disappointing to see inconsistent enforcement of the stated dress code. Guests are reminded of the policy before booking and again via text message, yet several patrons were admitted wearing shorts, sandals, and T-shirts, attire that the policy expressly prohibits. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations, particularly given the restaurant's reputation and price point. read more

My first and last time at Mila. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes were good, the food was mid at best, and the customer service was practically non-existent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came to Mila after attending a World Cup match at Hard Rock Stadium. Thanks to Miami's terrible event logistics, getting an Uber took over an hour, forcing us to push our reservation to the final 11:30 PM slot. Since we couldn't make it back to the hotel to change, we showed up in our soccer jerseys and jeans. The door lady was incredibly dismissive and rude. We explained the stadium nightmare, but she wouldn't budge on the dress code even as we watched a guy walk right out in jeans, tennis shoes, and a T-shirt. We asked for the manager (Galy/Gorman), who also refused to let us in but promised our table if we could go change and make it back by 12:30 AM. Since it was a Monday night and everything else was closed, we rushed back to the hotel, changed, and returned at 12:15 AM. When we got back, the door lady didn't even acknowledge our effort. Upstairs, the runaround continued. The host actively lied and claimed the kitchen was closed. She tried to stick us at the bar, claiming tables were gone, until we had her contact the manager who had promised us one. She then quickly changed her tune. Then, a second host tried to seat us inside (freezing cold), and finally dumped us at a tiny two-top outside. We order heavy, so my friend, who flew all the way from the Middle East for the World Cup, nicely asked for an empty booth nearby. The host caught a major attitude, complaining she was "just doing her job." We had to get the manager *again*, who finally wiped down the booth for us, though he never once thanked us or acknowledged the hoops we jumped through to come spend our money there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once we finally sat down, the atmosphere was actually great. Good music and a cool vibe, even though we were too late for the fire dancers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A huge shoutout to area manager Jose from Venezuela, he was the ONLY friendly person in the entire building, and the rest of the staff needs to take a hospitality lesson from him. Because we were starving, we ordered almost everything: Margarita verde, sweet corn, wild fungi dumplings, Wagyu gyoza, Hamachi crudo, truffle cream spaghetti, crispy Brussels sprouts, spicy tuna crispy rice, miso cod, wasabi mashed potatoes, and the king crab hot pot. Honestly? Most of it was totally mid and not worth the hype or the price tag. A lot of the dishes had no flavor or a weird aftertaste. The truffle spaghetti was especially disappointing--flavorless with literal clumps of cream. The only standouts were the Brussels sprouts, the hamachi, and the king crab hot pot. To top off the exhausting experience, our $800 bill (for two people) included a mandatory 20% service fee (about $200). When we asked our waitress, Savannah, she implied the fee goes to the "whole team" and essentially expected us to tip her an ADDITIONAL 20% on top. The lack of transparency regarding their billing is concerning. So Mila expects a 40% tip for lackluster food and horrible service that started before we even walked through the door? Brought a friend that flew in for the night. Honestly had such a bad time last time this was in the bottom of the list, but was the nicest place we could get a table at last min on a Monday at 11:15pm for dinner. The experience was so different I'm happy we came. The host was friendly with full conversation the the way too the table. Our server Ben was knowledgeable friendly and checked in often. The food was so good and came out quick. I probably wouldn't even come here again on a weekend. I was originally turned away because of my shoes while arriving with a party of 10. I was told that my sparkly sandals did not meet the dress code, so I had to go next door and purchase a new pair of shoes before being allowed in. Once inside the restaurant, I noticed several other guests wearing shoes that appeared much more casual, including sandals, sneakers, jeans, and T-shirts. I even saw one guest without shoes on who had visibly dirty feet, and there was also a child screaming nearby. I'm confused about why I was singled out and held to a different standard because of my sparkly sandals when other guests were allowed in wearing much more casual attire. Opened in early 2020 right before the pandemic hit. The place weirdly enough just claimed the title of America's highest grossing independent restaurant (idk how I feel about that). We asked to sit downstairs where the DJ starts around 11PM. Wow! That's my one-word description of my experience at the MILA lounge. My friend and I made a reservation a couple weeks in advance and luckily were able to get a good time slot for the lounge on the second floor. The lounge design itself is marvelous with a dimly lit atmosphere and calm yet upbeat music making it an all-around chill area to enjoy some delicious cuisine. The walls and carpeting are well maintained and the couches are comfortable with clean pillows with unique tribal designs. The service of the staff was top notch. I truly felt cared for, and the server assistant did awesome at constantly watching our table for any small adjustment that could be done to make our meal more enjoyable. He removed dirty plates, replaced silverware, wiped the table regularly, and removed any debris as soon as it needed to be discarded. The food itself was that of a smaller portion size, but it was extremely flavorful and rich. The sauces are excellently paired, and the menu itself was very well curated by the chefs. Presentation was great and all the food arrived at the optimal temperature. The best was the Chilean Seabass. If I had to choose one dish it would be that to recommend. The cocktails were nicely presented as well and the bartenders really know their stuff. It was great for a special occasion and I look forward to returning again soon! read more

MILA Miami is a fantastic and sophisticated MediterrAsian restaurant, rooftop lounge and mixology bar located in the heart of Miami Beach.  I came for my birthday with my family and what a treat it was! I mean, WOW! The food here draws influences from the Mediterranean and Japan, and the dishes are served in the informal izakaya dining style, meaning they are meant to be shared at the table. Basically, tapas style. We tried the skinny spicy margaritas, several dishes (pictured), and three desserts. Everything was delicious, particularly the desserts. The service was superb and the entire vibe was sophisticated. The common areas were, spacious, clean and easy to walk in. It is centrally located, but parking is limited. There are two paid public open parking lots nearby, which get crowded, so I highly encourage you to make it with plenty of time ahead.  Also, make sure to make a reservation if you want a table, but you can walk in and seat at the bar with full access to the menu without one (I would not risk it, though).  This is a high-end restaurant, so be ready to pay top dollar for the entire experience. It first starts with the elevator ride to the 3rd floor roof patio entrance. The ambience is made with a modern wooden feel but with a bit of a rustic decor. The food is a fusion of a bit of everything, Japanese, Mediterranean, splash of Italian (do not miss out on their pasta with truffle), soft chewy buttery bagels, ibérica slices, and soft savory smoked salmon. The music is excellent. A a great dj plays uplifting but calm music while a live guitarist riffs on their end to enhanced the musical experience. The staff is attentive and they work together to ensure you have your table clean and ready for your new meal. Recommendation: COME HUNGRY. try each station for their flavorful food stations. The outside area is dimly lit which makes for an intimate evening and the entertainment is classy and eye catching. Our table ordered several dishes. Let's start with the good, because credit where it's due: the food is genuinely excellent, particularly the fish and seafood, which were the clear stars of the spread. And our server, while I'll get to a quibble shortly, was fun, warm, and thoroughly professional. Now the rest. Brunch should feel like a leisurely indulgence, not a contact sport. The meat station had a queue of 20+ people at peak -- I came for great food, not a deli ticket. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is crowded and genuinely hard to navigate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Champagne required actively hunting down a server, whereas the Setai simply leaves a bottle at your table and lets you breathe. Coffee is $7 a cup -- at a brunch of this price point, charging for coffee feels a little cheeky. Then there was the pacing. Well before our two hours were up, our (otherwise lovely) server began the gentle wrap-up and produced the bill -- which is a curious energy for a "linger and enjoy" brunch. And we were charged an extra 2% as a "large party" of seven... at a buffet. Where we served ourselves. I'm still working out the math on that one. This place was one of my dinner reservations for my 13 girl bachelorette weekend. Because our group was so large, we had to reserve with the prix fix menu and pay a deposit to secure the reservation. Our experience was okay, some girls have been here a couple of years ago and they said the quality has gone somewhat downhill. For large groups, the minimum is $95 per person IF you sit indoors. However, from the inside, you can't see any of the performers, fire dancers, for DJ so we opted to sit on the terrace for a minimum of ~$140 per person. This is not including tax, tip, or the Miami large group fee. I was happy with our seating. We were right next to the water feature and very close to the dancers - who were beautiful and amazing! The food was pretty good, with some highs and lows. The salmon was amazing. The sushi was not good. If you're going to serve sushi to 13 girls Asian girls...the rice should not be hard! So disappointing. Some of the cocktails were really watered down, like not just purposefully but they left it out and so the ice had melted. This happened to 2-3 of our cocktails and so our group asked for new ones. I was reviewing the check after the bach weekend and noticed that they didn't even take the original cocktails off of the check! :( we did not drink the original cocktails at all, they were pretty bad. Also, we ordered a bottle for the table. MILA isn't one of those restaurants that will do anything special for bottle service. Our server was okay. He wasn't particularly accommodating and was really rushing us at the end because we were getting close to our two hour table limit. I went to Mila for brunch on a Sunday at noon with my girlfriends. What an experience! The dining area is extremely elevated from the moment you walk inside past the security guard letting you into the elevators. As soon as the elevator doors open, the entrance is grand and beautifully decorated. The brunch experience I got was the non-alcoholic option which was priced at $95. The non-alcoholic beverage was a refreshing cucumber drink which I thoroughly enjoyed. There was an array of buffet stations ranging from cheeses, hams, prosciutto, bagels, breads, fruits, meats including chicken and steak, approximately 5 different types of sushi and raw fish, pasta and additional bbq style outside, as well as a dessert area. I truly loved the cheese spread and the grilled meats as they were cooked to the point where they melted in my mouth. I like my sushi with spicy mayo and the waiter brought me some extra to the table. All sushi was fantastic and fresh. The dessert table was filled with macaroons, fruits, cheesecakes, yogurts and more. I really loved the lava cake with the MILA logo on top of the chocolate piece. Spectacular experience! I chose MILA to celebrate my birthday, expecting an elevated dining experience to match the restaurant's reputation and price point. While the ambiance is undeniably beautiful and intimate--perfect for a date night--it ultimately fell short of the high standards that a place like this promotes! For my entrée, I ordered the 2 lb Whole Roasted Branzino ($85) with shiso chimichurri, kalamata olives, and herb salad. Unfortunately, the dish was very bland and heavily dominated by fennel. The bigger issue was that the shiso chimichurri never even made it onto the plate, which I later noticed when comparing my dish to photos from other diners. At this level of dining, details matter. Another disappointment was the presentation. In many reviews and videos, the fish is dramatically flamed tableside, adding a memorable element to the experience. Instead, mine was simply torched from a distance and quickly broken apart. It felt rushed and inconsistent compared to what the restaurant advertises. My girlfriend ordered the 14 oz Prime Ribeye ($110) with yuzu kosho and rosemary marinade. I have to give credit where it's due--the steak was very good and well seasoned. The standout of the meal was the Seasonal Wild Mushrooms ($29) with ponzu butter and shaved truffle. The flavor was fantastic, though the portion was extremely small. Dessert was the Raspberry Cheesecake ($18) with sesame opaline and almond crumble, and it was absolutely delicious--arguably the highlight of the entire meal. A lovely experience overall! First time we tried to go, we were turned away from the door as my beau wore shorts. This is mildly ironic as the gentleman at the table next to us last night was wearing shorts yet was allowed to dine. Regardless, we weren't stopped at the door this time and were finally allowed in. The salmon is the best I've had anywhere. The preparation is exquisite and the portion just perfect. Another standout is the truffle pasta. My beau doesn't like truffles, or so he thought, but he loved it. Even the corn on the cob was a standout and I hate eating corn on the cob but gobbled it up. The only undesirable thing we ordered was the broccolini, which had a very bland sauce. The fire show is very very cool and unique.
