It's not just that she is able to listen to all aspects of my condition and look for the root of the problem, but also her ability to sympathize with the condition to make you feel like you are not alone in the pain. Another added bonus is her ability to pair your treatment with every day changes that should aid in recovery - diet, exercise, herbs, etc. She also has a way to go beyond acupuncture into other aids, such as cupping and something involving a ceramic spoon that feels odd at first but great on the muscles afterwards. Definitely a great addition to my medical doctor when I'm sick and a way to relax or aid in small things I don't need to see a doctor for otherwise.

My preference is to do chiro before acupuncture, and the office is always willing to do what they can from a scheduling perspective to accommodate my request, which brings us to our first stop, Justin! Embarrassing for me, but I've cried a few times in Justin's face because of aches and pains. Justin always takes his time to listen to my physical woes, and he goes to work to get 'em out. He uses a variety of methods from heat to stim to good 'ol chiropractic adjustments- all with a smile. I definitely feel loosey-goosey and ready to get poked, which brings me to my second stop....Angie! No matter the challenge I bring into the acupuncture room, Angie is ready to meet it. Angie also uses a variety of techniques from different laying positions to stim to heat lamps. PS Angie- where can I get one of those heat lamps for my house?? I don't think there's ever been one acupuncture session where I haven't gone into a fully meditative state. The hour long session feels like it's 5 minutes, and I always wake up feeling fully refreshed. We usually end our sessions with cupping, which has been a game changer in my physical healing journey. I genuinely don't know where I would be without these two. Every time I'm in this office I reflect on how grateful I am to have this tremendous duo in my corner. If I skip a week, I can absolutely tell a difference in my body. Suffice it to say, Angie and Justin won't be getting rid of me any time soon! Angie, Justin, thank you infinitely. You both are blessings!

At this newly-opened space, people can do a community approach: 4 chairs, one room, mellow lighting and either use the music/white noise mixed in with the quiet presence of city sounds or bring an ipod (I use ambient music from iTunes radio). IN this open space, unlike a private thing, I felt "aware" of stuff but when I asked how long I was there, it was 35 minutes and felt like 15. I drove home calm, and slept without pain, awaking today refreshed, ahead of my alarm, and... good. This location is 2 doors from Cityprovisions and across from two restaurants, a small gallery and around the Ravenswood area; a walk-around would be wonderful in spring, but this being winter, parking is close and free. You will NOT have results with one visit. It takes a few to see if, indeed, it can work, but for me, it does. Circulation, pain, stress, and just about anything that can be fixed, can be fixed. A half-century and finally, I'm meeting my own mind and body. This old skeptic is a livin', breathin' believer.

Long story short, I had never tried acupuncture before and came into my first appointment with a multitude of complaints. I had been especially struggling with eczema and anxiety. Dr. Rivera made me feel at-ease with the process of acupuncture and recommended a course of treatment. After weekly treatments for a little over 2 months, there is a night and day difference. My eczema has healed to the point where I no-longer need to use steroid creams. My anxiety levels have lowered so much that I no-longer need to have regular therapy sessions. Dr. Rivera has also helped balance my digestive system, hormones and much more. She has even recommended diet and lifestyle changes that have made such a big difference in how I feel. I feel so much more in-control of my body and I would recommend Dr. Rivera to all of my friends!
