My doctor recommended acupuncture to me and told me it would be "life-changing." I had been facing several mysterious health issues, such as dizziness, shortness of breath and intense acid reflux. My doctors weren't able to figure out what was going on, so I listened to my doctor and decided to give acupuncture a try. The first time I had acupuncture, I had an emotional release that I had never expected. Acupuncture feels like a re-set button for my mind and body, and it complements my Western medicine practices. I now have a deeper mind-body connection that allows me to figure out what's going on quickly, and if needed, I can use my essential oils or breathing techniques right away. Amy's expertise with essential oils has also been a great benefit to me. I have purchased my own collection and use them for all different purposes. For example, when I get bug bites or skin irritation, I instantly break out my lavender roll-on and it provides instant relief. Now, I don't go anywhere without my glass bottle of essential oil-infused water! I felt instantly comfortable with Amy. Upon my initial appointment, I had to fill in a complete health survey that made me very reflective about what was going on in my body. When you put all of that down on paper, you can feel very vulnerable. Amy is like a therapist with the way she handles your worries and assesses your issues. I initially was apprehensive about having the needles in my body, but Amy took it slow and asked if I wanted breaks in between applications, but the more she went, the easier it became. By the end of the treatment, I didn't even feel them going in. In fact, anytime a family member, friend, or co-worker mentions a chronic condition, I recommend acupuncture and refer them to Amy. Another aspect of working with Amy is the interest she has in each of her clients. I've received emails from Amy between appointments with articles she's stumbled on that are relevant to my treatment, advice for health management, and recommendations for essential oil practices. Everybody likes feeling like their health practitioners care about them, and the fact that she not only cares, but keeps in touch between appointments demonstrates her passion for the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Most of all, I like Amy as a person and a health practitioner. I find her kind, interesting, funny, knowledgeable, and genuine. The most surprising aspect of my experience with acupuncture is how much of a believer I've become. I was initially a skeptic because acupuncture seemed really fringe to me. The matter-of-fact way Amy has explained my treatments made it accessible. Now that it's a regular part of my life, I don't know what I did without it. I feel that my overall well-being has improved, with Amy coaching me along the way. I've been very detailed about every symptom I've had, and Amy considers my health plan every time. Before acupuncture treatments I would go days without sleeping. I was amazed that after just one session I was able to sleep through the night despite sleeping pills and other sleep therapies not working for me! I am getting more (sound) sleep than I've probably ever had in my life. I also had many symptoms associated with Hashimotos: weekly migraines, hot flashes, stomach pain, fatigue, joint pain, Reynaud's, anxiety, acne, constipation and irregular menstrual cycles. I had extreme sensitivity to cold, brain fog and ADHD. Since starting acupuncture my symptoms are either gone or now manageable. I was shocked when I went in to check my last thyroid levels and my numbers were finally within normal range... this is after months of being on medications that made my levels worse. My anxiety has almost resolved completely. The combination of sleeping and being anxiety free has resulted in a more hopeful outlook on life, and a sense that fully healing the health problems that I've had since I was 7 is in fact possible. Acupuncture has allowed me to plan more for the future. Before I was scared to make plans even just days in advance because my health was so inconsistent, now my symptoms have become so manageable I'm able to schedule trips months ahead of time. Before I started acupuncture I was forced to spend all of my time trying to figure out my health concerns, I saw new doctors regularly, and tried every treatment recommended to me. Since I started doing acupuncture I have not needed to see a doctor once. This has allowed me the time to focus on who I am outside of my health problems. After living with the complications of polycystic kidney disease for most of my life I was tired of taking medications and never feeling healthy. So I looked for a more holistic route of treatment for my disease. I have chronic back pain and have been going to the chiropractor for about 20 years. Recently I felt like the chiropractic adjustments were not helping alleviate the pain I had been feeling. I am very active and it is not uncommon for me to have some type of dull back pain every day. After a couple of acupuncture visits I do not have the constant dull pain I regularly felt. For me acupuncture compliments the chiropractor and it has helped me extend the length of time between back adjustments without any suffering. I think that acupuncture has improved how I feel in general on a day-to-day basis in a way that chiropractor adjustments have not been able to do. I highly recommend the Vibrational Sound Therapy with Amy. It is unlike anything I have experienced, and I am a veteran of Massage and Acupuncture! As part of my monthly cancer treatments, I am required to take high doses of steroids the day of and the day after my infusion. Acupuncture has been an eye-opening surprise. Since starting treatment, the discomfort in my knees has decreased, while my mobility and endurance have increased. The knees were badly swollen when I started, but now appear virtually normal. I started acupuncture for tailbone pain caused from a fall on the ice as a supplement to my Reiki treatments. I was having acute pain in my scapula for 8 months. It would flare up and be burning, stabbing, and tingling. Two rounds of physical therapy helped with strength but did not mitigate the pain. After a few treatments, the pain started to subside and is now gone! We are now working on my migraines, which are also starting to decrease in frequency.
