For food, we shared two appetizers and honestly could have made a meal out of them. The Dominican Flag was incredible: crispy fried plantains, perfectly melty fried cheese, Dominican salami and smoky longaniza, all topped with pickled red onions that added the perfect zing. Every bite was packed with flavor and felt like true comfort food. We also loved the Loaded Yuca Balls; crispy golden yuca stuffed with cheese and topped with roasted pineapple, jalapeños, sour cream, and bacon. The combination of sweet, spicy, cheesy, and savory was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and homemade, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was great. We'll definitely be back to try more from the menu!

We had a great experience at Cilantro. Our waitress Maria was polite and timely at every step. And…read moreeverything that she brought to the table was great. From my mojito and Tostones Playeros shareable to the breakfast menu's Salchipapas, I thoroughly enjoyed everything. (Well, except for the pork belly on the Salchipapas as I find it too fatty regardless of who makes it. But even after setting the large chunks of pork belly to the side, the Salchipapas were still filling and delicious. The fries had the perfect crispness) My wife got coffee, which was free with her Calentado Breakfast entree. You can choose your protein on the dish, and my wife chose the same andouille sausage that was on my Salchipapas, so you already know that it' was good! Protip: get sides of the Cilantro sauce and spicy sauce to go with your order. They make a good thing better. Inside, the green-themed decor is evident without belaboring the point. There's a stage as well for nighttime entertainment, so there's no shortage of reasons to enjoy your trip to Cilantro.

The food was absolutely delicious, but seemed a little pricey. For example, my arepa was $14 (and…read moresome were $16+) and that did not come with anything else. For that price, I felt you should get a few plantains or beans, something. To add fries or plantains it was an additional $5. The house salad was delicious, but again, I felt the price point was a bit high at $9.50 for a side salad. The server was sweet and patient as we were first timers and had lots of questions. Cute little spot...they made it aesthetically pleasing! However, I will say the acoustics are off, it was incredibly loud and I couldn't hear my tablemates. Definitely a fan!

This time I was inspired to look for a Mexican ceviche. In my most recent adventure, I visited Taqueria La Loma in Akron and very much enjoyed my meal. After ordering from the counter, I sat down and was quickly given some fresh chips and salsa to snack on. Although these were delicious, I probably should have passed on this because what I ordered was much more that I could eat alone. I was impressed by the flavor and value of the Mixed (shrimp and octopus) Ceviche, and would absolutely suggest it to anyone. I'd never had octopus ceviche before, and was concerned about chewiness, but was pleasantly surprised at how tender it was. I assume the shrimp ceviche is similarly good. I also ordered 3 birria tacos. I found there was maybe slightly too much cheese in the taco, but the tasty consomé dip was impressive. To wash it all down, I had one of the best horchata drinks I've ever had in my life. It was sooo good and a must-have. The staff was attentive and helpful, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant was basic, but clean, and looks like the kind of authentic place you'd want to go for a casual but tasty Mexican food meal. I will be recommending this place to my co-workers in the Akron office, and will go back again next time I'm in town.

One of the best parts of a chimichanga is the deep fried exterior and crunch. Here they smother the chimichanga in cheese so there was no crunch to it. I know places like this are very popular so I gave it three stars but if you want authentic food look else where.
