The servers are peasant and the inside is nice. Unfortunately the food is typical American Mexican. Very bland beans and rice. No real flavor to my chimichanga. One of the best parts of a chimichanga is the deep fried exterior and crunch. Here they smother the chimichanga in cheese so there was no crunch to it. Incredible! We finally found a go-to after moving to Ohio from Arizona where Hispanic/Mexican food is available in spades. First, the service was so fast and so friendly! Our server who I think was named Marey (?) was amazing and so sweet. Next, the food! We ordered a LOT of food, and it was all great! Chimichangas, two beef cheek and two shrimp tacos, all the hot salsas, chips, horchata and margarita. All really flavorful and again...came out hot and fast! Although there was good flavor, the tomatillo sauce was mild. The rice and beans also tased good and were hot. The rice tasted freshly prepared. When traveling for work from Toronto, I usually take the opportunity to have my bosses pay for me to enjoy new and interesting foods. This time I was inspired to look for a Mexican ceviche. In my most recent adventure, I visited Taqueria La Loma in Akron and very much enjoyed my meal. After ordering from the counter, I sat down and was quickly given some fresh chips and salsa to snack on. Although these were delicious, I probably should have passed on this because what I ordered was much more that I could eat alone. I was impressed by the flavor and value of the Mixed (shrimp and octopus) Ceviche, and would absolutely suggest it to anyone. I'd never had octopus ceviche before, and was concerned about chewiness, but was pleasantly surprised at how tender it was. I assume the shrimp ceviche is similarly good. I also ordered 3 birria tacos. I found there was maybe slightly too much cheese in the taco, but the tasty consomé dip was impressive. To wash it all down, I had one of the best horchata drinks I've ever had in my life. It was sooo good and a must-have. The staff was attentive and helpful, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant was basic, but clean, and looks like the kind of authentic place you'd want to go for a casual but tasty Mexican food meal. I will be recommending this place to my co-workers in the Akron office, and will go back again next time I'm in town. read more

We showed up for the birria tacos and they did NOT disappoint! We ordered 4 birria tacos and a carne asada torta to share. I will say the torta (sandwich) was a bit soggy at the bottom which I did not enjoy. Their sauces are very tasty- the guacamole and the red/orange one in particular. Yes- they are spicy but packed with flavor. They came with the free basket of tortilla chips but we used them on our food. I can't say enough about how great the food is here. We went on New Year's Eve after plans got canceled and were elated to see they were open. When we walked in the cashier let us check out the menu before asking what we wanted. We both ordered 3 tacos and queso. He told us sit wherever we want and he'd bring the food out to us. 10-15 minutes later we had some of the most sensational tacos we've ever had. Free chips and salsa was also brought out with 2 bottles of homemade hot sauce that I couldn't get enough of. AUTHENTIC it simply screams authenticity. Serving sizes are very healthy. The Spanish rice was very moist and perfectly seasoned. It also included some pieces of carrots. In addition to your complimentary chips and amazing salsa you receive two bottles of sauce. The red bottle is very spicy. I elected the green one which was avocado based. Be mindful of what you order. My family and I were disappointed today instead of don patron we decided to try la loma and we were disappointed in our decision. I hear constantly how it's authentic and maybe that just depends on what you order... My dad ordered the fajita that was so over done you had to chew the beef 20 times just to eat it... So gross. My chicken enchilada was good, but I ordered everything over the phone and I asked for an extra salsa and they didn't include it. I also asked for sauce on the side for 2 enchiladas and they did not listen lol. So by the time we got home they were already soggy. Luckily it wasn't super spicy.. It kind of seems like everyone had something to complain about for our food. My dad did not like the salsa and said it was watered down. He disliked it so much that he just threw it away. It was ok we will stick with don patron! Glad we gave it a chance. IMO they shouldn't have food on the menu that they can't deliver. There is definitely certain food here you shouldn't order. Then you can either sit down at a table to have them bring the food to you or you can take it to go. We order the camarones a la diabla. It was very spicy and tasty. The shrimp were very plump and fresh. The rice and beans were good too. My husband had the chicken tacos. It was cilantro, onions, and lightly seasoned chicken on a flour tortilla. After many recommendations and reading the great Yelp reviews, we finally made it to La Loma. It did not disappoint. Everyone orders up front, whether you're ordering takeout or dining in. We actually ordered ours to-go and ate in the parking lot. (We weren't sure how they were handling the pandemic, but it turns out they did have tables blocked off for spacing.) We tried chicken enchiladas, chicken quesadillas (one pictured below), tacos al pastor, and cabeza tacos, chips, guacamole, and queso. Everything we had was exceptional and truly authentic (not like typical local/chain Mexican food). I highly recommend and will be back to try other menu items! read more
