    I can not say enough about this place. Kingsport dentistry has changed the way I feel about going…read moreto the dentist. I recently went there for a tooth extraction. I couldn't get into my normal dentist before my upcoming vacation. The day of my appointment my anxiety was high because this was the first time I was going to be awake. From the time I walked in, I was greeted by smiles. Everyone made me feel so welcome and tried their best to quelch my anxiety. I had the nitrous oxide (new to me bc I'm usually put to sleep). This helped me, but what also helped was the kind staff. The dental hygienist Lisa was so nice. I felt safe and in good hands. Dr David Mathers was very kind and considerate of my fears. I made the decision to switch my dental care to Kingsport Dentistry. The entire staff helped me to jump the hurdle of being scared of the dentist and get on the right track to cross the finish line to better dental health.

The lady who explained the coding just acted helpless as if she couldn't possibly be expected to give a customer heads up that when their child turned 14, the insurance would no longer consider him a child. I personally think that is not something she just discovered, and did not know when your office sent texts to me to update info and confirm the appt. How about, "oh, it's another 14 y.o. we better send a statement that dental insurance isn't covered because he's an adult? Because $220 for a cleaning? How about "do you want to skip xrays?" How about do the uncomfortable task of holding your staff to a higher standard of care and consideration for the patient- including yourself instead of ignoring that I already spoke to your office management. They know who I am. And if they didn't convey that to you, consider that. If they did tell you and you know who I am because they told you, don't bother writing responses that aren't sincere.

I don't even know the new dentist's name, and my family has been to the office for 5 appointments after the transition, because only one of us has actually SEEN him - and then only the one time. I had gone in for a cleaning and check up, and the hygenist told me that she couldn't do it because I "had severe gum disease and needed a deep cleaning" or the resulting damage to my bone would cause me to lose my teeth, and that I needed a filling. She did take X rays. My husband went to the same office a couple of months later. The hygenist told him that he "had severe gum disease and needed a deep cleaning" or the resulting damage to HIS bone would cause him to lose his teeth. They did do a cleaning, and he saw the elusive dentist at this time. My daughter went to the same office on the same day as her dad. She was told she had a cavity, but her gums were swollen from "severe gum disease" and the cavity was too close to the gums, which would mean filling it would cause her gums to bleed. They told her to use an Oral B electric toothbrush to get the gum disease under control and made her an appointment to come back later. Then my mother (who lives at a different address from us) went to the same dentist a week later and was told she "had severe gum disease and needed a deep cleaning" or the resulting damage would cause her to lose her teeth. No cleaning was done. My daughter went back to have her filling done. They said they couldn't do it because her gums would bleed, and never made a follow up appointment. My appointment for the filling was cancelled because the dentist would not be available. Our insurance denied authorization for the deep cleanings, stating it was not necessary based on the X rays. Upon hearing about our experience and how everything she was told was identical to what we were told, my mother went to a different dentist and was told she did NOT have severe gum disease and did NOT need a deep cleaning. Overall, what was once a wonderful office to go to for your dental service has become useless if you actually need anything, even minor care, done. I would highly recommend you go anywhere else.

I've been having issues with a bill and claim not being submitted correctly to my insurance repeatedly. Actually, my insurance STILL doesn't have a claim filed. My insurance provides 100% coverage for the care I received and instead of fixing the issue, the billing department is extremely rude, mouthy, ignores emails, and doesn't call patients back. Dr. Tanner, I truly hope you realize how your patients are being treated and that you address this situation immediately.
