Today the most amazing thing happened. I went in to get a new crown. Dr. David was look working with Lisa his assistant. I don't know if it was the gas they gave me or just the positive energy they sent out, but we had so much fun. The jokes, the light humor, the laughing at ourselves. It was great. So you don't think I'm totally unbelievable, I didn't like the drilling. Or the shot. But this has been a very positive experience with the dentist, which I've always thought was kind of an oxymoron. I see Amanda for cleaning, and she's great, too. We tend to give dentists a bad rap, but if you want to experience something different, I highly recommend Kingsport Dentistry. I couldn't get into my normal dentist before my upcoming vacation. The day of my appointment my anxiety was high because this was the first time I was going to be awake. From the time I walked in, I was greeted by smiles. Everyone made me feel so welcome and tried their best to quelch my anxiety. I had the nitrous oxide (new to me bc I'm usually put to sleep). This helped me, but what also helped was the kind staff. The dental hygienist Lisa was so nice. I felt safe and in good hands. Dr David Mathers was very kind and considerate of my fears. I made the decision to switch my dental care to Kingsport Dentistry. The entire staff helped me to jump the hurdle of being scared of the dentist and get on the right track to cross the finish line to better dental health.

We made an appointment with Dr QI to help correct the dental problems from the previous dental office. She was very professional, did excellent work as well as being very personable and informative. We finished the procedure today and the finished product is excellent. She replaced an poorly fitting upper plate with another that fit perfectly. She also replaced the lower partial that was not seated properly. It was high in the middle and when a bite was taken the front would go down and the wires would scrape the adjoining teeth in the front, when biting in the back to chew the back would go down scraping the attaching teeth destroying the enamel. Dr Qi sent us out for oral surgeon to install implants. All is well now. The previous dental office was not interested in accepting any responsibility. I don't even know the new dentist's name, and my family has been to the office for 5 appointments after the transition, because only one of us has actually SEEN him - and then only the one time. I had gone in for a cleaning and check up, and the hygenist told me that she couldn't do it because I "had severe gum disease and needed a deep cleaning" or the resulting damage to my bone would cause me to lose my teeth, and that I needed a filling. She did take X rays. My husband went to the same office a couple of months later. The hygenist told him that he "had severe gum disease and needed a deep cleaning" or the resulting damage to HIS bone would cause him to lose his teeth. They did do a cleaning, and he saw the elusive dentist at this time. My daughter went to the same office on the same day as her dad. She was told she had a cavity, but her gums were swollen from "severe gum disease" and the cavity was too close to the gums, which would mean filling it would cause her gums to bleed. They told her to use an Oral B electric toothbrush to get the gum disease under control and made her an appointment to come back later. Then my mother (who lives at a different address from us) went to the same dentist a week later and was told she "had severe gum disease and needed a deep cleaning" or the resulting damage would cause her to lose her teeth. No cleaning was done. My daughter went back to have her filling done. They said they couldn't do it because her gums would bleed, and never made a follow up appointment. My appointment for the filling was cancelled because the dentist would not be available. Our insurance denied authorization for the deep cleanings, stating it was not necessary based on the X rays. Upon hearing about our experience and how everything she was told was identical to what we were told, my mother went to a different dentist and was told she did NOT have severe gum disease and did NOT need a deep cleaning. Overall, what was once a wonderful office to go to for your dental service has become useless if you actually need anything, even minor care, done. I would highly recommend you go anywhere else.

Actually, my insurance STILL doesn't have a claim filed. My insurance provides 100% coverage for the care I received and instead of fixing the issue, the billing department is extremely rude, mouthy, ignores emails, and doesn't call patients back. Dr. Tanner, I truly hope you realize how your patients are being treated and that you address this situation immediately.

One day while they was working on my 5 year old he starts crying and trying to say something and the dentist actually screamed at him!!!! I made him stop and I said something is wrong and sure enough the assistant was pinching his lip and it was so bad it was bleeding. The dentist didn't even apologize! We never went back! I have been taking them to a different dentist for 2 years now and guess what?!?! They haven't had a cavity since. If you ask me Watuga Dental is just ripping patients and insurance companies off!!!!!!
