I've done business with these people previously. Probably spent a few thousand dollars on repairs with respect to my daughter's car. Head gasket was replaced and other sundry items. I used them because they are a local, established business with a decent reputation . . . until today! Called early in the week and spoke with John. Strange, despite significant transfer of money, he had no recollection of me. Furthermore, I was an employee in the community for 28 years and Mr. Rhino is a public figure as well. The purpose of the call was an inquiry concerning my daughter's car with respect to ignition wiring replacement and a much-needed timing belt. For those of you that are not mechanical, the failure of a timing belt will potentially destroy the engine. My daughter called and made an appointment for today assuming that work would be accomplished. The arrangement called for me to act as the agent and I would act on her behalf with respect to work and cost. She had given me a budget limit, but it was not unreasonable. Consequently, I fully anticipated a call this morning and a discussion concerning repairs and costs. I DID NOT receive a phone call until 2:00 PM which I find to be absolutely unreasonable. Second, I was told that perhaps the electrical system should be left as-is because no trouble was being experienced. I said, "I want you to change those plugs!" "That vehicle has over 100,000 miles and the plugs have NEVER been changed." I have seen plug electrodes almost eroded totally with that much mileage. He agree, but was somewhat reluctant. He agreed that the timing belt should be replaced and gave a reasonable estimate. However, that's not a project to start at 2 PM on a Friday afternoon. Therefore, this ludicrous delay necessitates arranging for another appointment next week. It's inexcusable because the garage was given all this information in advance. These events mark the last trip to John and Ed's Garage. This decision is further punctuated by the events that occurred at the end of the day. I received a phone call at 5 PM, closing time. I was was informed that nothing had been done and we would square the account when the timing belt was changed. Wrong! The timing belt service will not be done there and there will be no payment. Try to collect and we enter the world of the Chapter 93A, consumer protection, letter. read more

Always honest and reasonable. Sorry guys if your car breaks you may have to pay to get it fixed and you may have to wait a day or two because there are other people with car problems that got there before you. I have ALWAYS left happy knowing I supported a local business and the small talk with people I know and trust is a bonus as well. read more

I have been bringing my car to John and Ed's ever since I first started driving. No matter what problem I have, they either fix it for me or refer me to someone who can. The rate for service is crazy affordable - and if anything ever goes wrong you can always call up and bring your car back to be checked on. Don't listen to that whack "self entitled" negative review. John is an amazing mechanic. He has always taken care of my family and the prices can't be beat. He fixed my mother's Scion recently and any other garage would have charged double but he really looked out for my elderly mother. He even picked her up when the car was finished. ok so the other reviewers car didn't get fixed right away, well we aren't the only customers they work with, so stop being so high on your horse. You won't find a more honest old school approach to auto repairs. The work he did on my mothers car and price he charged showed he is not just in this for the money. He isn't one of those greedy mechanics that charge inflated prices. He does quality work and all the guys treat you like family. They are honest, hardworking and the best part of all, they are cheaper priced then any shop in the area. If it's not broke they won't fix it. They don't come up with inflated charges or fix unnecessary items. They are also forgiving when you question the costs of repairs and then have to apologize when you realize you paid 1/2 the cost other places charge. Love these guys!!! read more

Well it would be nice to have the option to post no stars for the frustration with this shop. On Friday the mechanic was told the problem of the vehicle was the clutch and John insisted to look at the vehicle and could not get to it till Tuesday so it so happens on Tuesday the problem advised goes out . The clutch ....we take it to John and its towed it takes 6 hours for them To say he can not do the job and it has to be taken to another mechanic the job is Now outsourced for the rest of the diagnostic. To stars transmission up the road so first thing Wednesday we go to John to find Out the location of the vehicle. He advises me of a 75 fee for towing and is irate because I told Him the problem and he was never able to fix due to the lack of equieent at his shop I told him we will pay half since he never had intentions of doing the job he said a lien will be placed and we will not get the car. No with his friend with the car fr start Steve quotes a fee of 1153 for repair with tow and true job from 2 dealers was quoted 758 w labor Steve never called to advise of work going to be done and and quoted a amount of labor no call no paper work of exspences and upfront demanded money after going over his calculations he was still over charging 170 in his calculations and demanded cash only in which was given paid 985 what crooks and how I'm sure jOhn got his cut screw these guys save ur te and money and hassle and go somewhere else. read more

Had a bad experience servicing my car at John and Eds, I will not be back! Not to mention John was very unfriendly. Never again.

John and Ed's Garage supersedes all of my expectations. They are always helpful and as busy as they get - they always return my car swiftly and better than expected. They top off my fluids and take care of even the smallest details for me - I know my car is in good hands when I bring it to John and Ed's. They are down to earth, genuine, hard-working men that go above and beyond your typical garage. Just the other day, my check engine light went on - one call to Ed and he said bring it on down and he'll look at it right then. I was so happy and relieved! I pulled up and Ed came right out to meet me, he hooked up my car to run a check to see what was causing the light to go on and thankfully my gas cap just needed to be replaced which was an easy and cheap fix. I am so thankful for John and Ed's first-rate service and am one happy repeat customer for years and many more to come! I highly recommend them and I look forward to bringing my daughter here for her car needs when she's on the road. read more
