Their herbs were all healthy and very reasonably priced and I ended up getting a giant bag of potting soil for like $5. There was only one woman manning the stand when we stopped by but she was friendly and quick and answered all of our questions. We were on the hunt for a lilac bush and, although they didn't have the particular one we were hoping for, they had a few beauties we were tempted by. This was my first time here (in May) but this might just be our next Christmas tree stop next year! Happy to have found the Country Gentleman!

Along with our lilac bush, I also got a few new herb plants like basil, cilantro and somer curly parsley for myself. Everything is growing strong and healthy and I flourishing! They have a big beautiful space filled with flowers and plants both inside and outside, as well as a big greenhouse filled with their veggie and herb plants. I could spend a good chunk of time just wandering, but the more time I spend the more money I spend, of course. The team was very helpful and answered all of our questions and helped load the bigger lilac bush into our car. We'll be back the next time I get a hankering for more plants!

Although it's December 1st, I felt like I was in a holiday time warp today. Why? Well, my family…read moreand I went out this afternoon to get a real tree. None of the places we've gone to in previous years (Sears parking lot, Main Street in Milltown, etc.) were set up. I know it was raining, and rain can deter tree shoppers, but Thanksgiving was late this year, so not only is it quite common for people to get their tree sometime during the holiday weekend, but Christmas is only about 3 weeks away -- so where were all the trees?!? We decided to drive around and see if we could find any place that was selling trees. We almost drove right past the sign for Harris Farm, but, boy oh boy, am I glad we didn't! What a great selection of super fresh trees! And despite the fact that it was cold and raining cats and dogs, the young men who greeted and helped us were warm and sunny. The tree prices are reasonable ($49) and actually less than what I thought a "farm tree" would cost. I still can't explain why there were no Christmas trees to be found the weekend after Thanksgiving, but this bizarre day led us to the farm we'll definitely go to for our tree from now on.

So we googled and came across Wolgast. Here is how it works..... You arrive and park off the gravel road, cross the road on foot over to the giant field of trees. Once you choose one you can either opt to cut it down yourself with a hack saw or wave for an employee who will cut it down with a chainsaw. All trees are $45 from little baby ones to the 15 footers. We took a few laps around the field before making a selection. I bought the tree the weekend after thanksgiving and it's still going strong today. Beautiful. Happy to support a local farm as well.

David Bailey was my contact who I had spoke to a half dozen times from June until mid November. Then, a week before delivery was to happen, they ghosted our Boy Scout Troop and refused to answer my calls or our treasurer's calls. Bottomline, our troop was unable to have our annual Christmas tree fundraiser because of this. This is not a trustworthy or dependable company. It wasn't easy finding trees over 9 feet. but we found it.. it cost $267. There are popular sprayed trees as well. Keep in mind they don't allow tailgating which isn't good considering we are coming 2 hours away and everyone is hungry. Apparently a few customers ruined it for the masses. There was a great variety of trees, the details can be found on their website. It's very organized upon arrival with workers who show you where to park and point out the areas of different trees. I love how they put tree carts and hand saws all throughout the farm, so they are easily accessible. The trees are nicely spaced out so they are able to grow. They seem very healthy! We purchased blue spruce, and were very happy with their selection. There are many areas blocked off, I assume since they are still growing and need to mature. It's probably best they do this, to ensure proper growth and health of the trees. They have a cute store with freshly made wreaths, and all things Christmas related! It was SO cute! I'll be sure to purchase my trees and wreaths here moving fwd. The prices are a little higher than what we are use too, but I assume it's because of the care they provide to the trees and quality. Worth it to us. FYI- There are no dogs allowed or electric saws. They accept credit cards, which was nice as we didn't have cash. They shake, wrap and drill a hole into the trees. This was the greatest place to come - they have a good selection of plants, planters, and materials. I have never seen such a big pansy selection in my life. I absolutely love pansies and had the best time picking out flowers for my flat. Prices are not unreasonable, but it is expensive. It's a great place to come and get inspired and do a light plant haul, but I'll probably save the really big purchases for more affordable garden center. With that being said, you do get what you pay for - and The Farm adds warranties to many of the pricier bushes and trees. If you're looking to outfit your backyard or you enjoy gardening, you have to make a trip to this destination garden center.
