Based on my experience, any proactive issues you can take to avoid any water issues is money well spent. I love how they work with you to stay in your budget but help you to track issues you may see in the future. In our situation, we have a gutter issue that showed up when we had the recent monsoon rain. We're going to fix our gutters (clean them out) but will track a second issue (we also have an issue with the volume of our 2nd floor gutter pours onto our garage roof as the 2nd floor and the garage roof gutter handle the same volume of water which means that if we max out the 2nd floor gutter, the garage roof gutter will be overflowing). They also pointed out that they can fix issues with our porch setting (a common issue given that NC builder often throw all their trash under the porch then bury the trash when they finish their construction). There is an easy fix for that issue. Also, they can fix an issue with our cement driveway slab tilting though it is more expensive given the size of the slab. We'll address this later.

I've read online that they do excellent work, but all they wanted to talk about was their competitors. If I had a nickel for every time I heard about "the other guys," I could possibly afford their newest "absolute best price we can do." Not a fan. Just tell me the price, tell me what you do, and cut the gimmicks.

Nonetheless, our contact person Madeleine and her crew came out to assess our foundation and cracks and some mold from the humidity in the crawlspace. In the end we went with mold remediation, a sump pump, new vapor barrier, joist lifts, and air sealing to keep out the creepy crawlies. Big ticket expense, but when compared to the competition, we went with them because of the thoroughness with the estimate interview and the willingness to answer all of our questions, they were also well-spoken of on other review sites including a popular large community message board, and the price was pretty comparable. Also, the crew was very good. My only ding would be was not putting the items in the crawlspace back in the order that it was originally, which saved space. But to add to their credit, we have one additional project that needs to be done outside of Little Corner's scope and the new company took a look at Little Corner's work and said "They did a very good job, this is how we would have done it." We filed a board complaint in April 2026 and I can only hope they can stop him from leaving anyone else in the same situation he's left us in. He didn't meet any deadlines, was in breach of both mine and the banks contract. He was fired. A structural repair company that flat out says "you paid for repairs, you don't pay for the work to be up to code" says a lot.

I was impressed by the fact that he gave us a few different options of what could be done, and explained the pros and cons of each, rather than just fearmongering and pushing the most expensive one with all the bells and whistles. '58's quote was definitely higher than the local companies, but generally on-par, if not a little lower than, their big national peers. And true to the promise they make on their website, they didn't do any kind of price matching or marketing gimmicks; they just gave me the price. '58 was our 2nd choice behind who we decided to go with (out of 6, yes SIX separate inspections/quotes), and I would definitely use them for other work, should I need it down the line.
