Dr. Cha is a great doctor who truly knows his craft. I recently fractured my toe while riding a motorcycle and he has been incredibly proactive over the past few months helping the toe to heal and offering helpful guidance. He is very knowledgeable, takes care of things quickly, and found a number of additional ways to support my foot. I appreciate his friendly demeanor and attentiveness to detail. I couldn't imagine finding another podiatrist with more expertise than he has. Definitely recommend! read more

I am disappointed with the care that I have been receiving from Dr. Cha. I feel he only focuses on his agenda and not the patient's. He has until late, paid little attention to all key injuries I'm dealing with. An accident caused my 2nd metatarsal to fracture along with a few other areas of my foot and ankle to become injured and very painful. The first several visits he was only concerned about the fracture, which has been healing all along excellently. Only until the 4th or 5th visit and my ongoing questions about pain around other areas of my foot has he suggesting a MRI, thinking now that maybe I may have had a hairline fracture to other areas. A good Dr. knows he or she is in the business of people care. Dr. Cha seems to have tunnel vision, doesn't always listen to patients, can be curt and dismissive. Ok, I gave them another chance. Won't be back- terrible business! I overpaid ($350). It took months to get a refund- as they have a bad book system! (Trust me, I used to be an accountant/controller). The doctor apparently takes incoming funds, and cashes them for pocket $$- before they are posted to accounts receivables!!!! They should have caught the over-payment at end of month reconciliations- at least! Major pain getting my paperwork to prove I over-paid, and even then, took a while to get my money back!!!! Avoid. Went to see Dr. Cha for a foot problem that had been plaguing me for months. He basically spent a few minutes at most seeing me, barely looking at my foot. He told me he didn't see a problem. I told him I couldn't walk well or work out, and clearly had a problem. Today another caring podiatrist instantly spotted that I had a shard of glass embedded in my foot. My impression was that Dr. Cha was uninterested in a patient in pain that wouldn't lead to lucrative surgery. As someone who once wrote a piece in the Wall Street Journal about medical schools training doctors on better bedside manner, he should read it. Doctor John Cha is a very experienced podiatrist. I have had onychomycosis for more than 30 years. I have seen many specialists, but no help. Several doctors told me that there is no cure for onychomycosis. I found John Cha two years ago, I took the medicine he gave me, and applied topical lotion. My toenails are almost fully restored. I am so happy that I can wear sandals barefoot in summer. Decades of distress were released. I am very grateful to him. Dr. John Ch's service attitude is also very good. I highly recommend Dr. Cha! One morning I awoke with acute pain in my right foot. I learned of Dr, Cha, and sought HELP! I received that help from the doctor and his very competent staff. An x-ray showed an avulsion fracture. My injured foot was immobilized in a cast, and the pain subsided. Within two weeks x-ray showed enough healing to have the cast removed, and replaced by a boot. Exactly one month following the injury, x-ray showed the fracture healed. After such an event, it is natural to worry that such an injury could reoccur. Dr. Cha put my mind at rest by making orthodics of my feet. I wear these comfortably, feeling secure that this event will not reoccur. I recently ran my first marathon, and if it wasn't for Dr. Cha I probably would have a broken shin by now. I was having a lot of pain in my foot and ankle, and went to see him. He determined that I had a bruised bone on my foot, so made me a custom insert for my shoe that was the same shape as my foot as well as juiced it up with extra padding for my trouble spot. I visited Dr Cha for a recurring heel pain problem.As a workout fanatic, I had tried many over the counter treatments to ease the pain nothing worked. I have a good working knowlegde of sports injuries and tried rest, stretching, ice with no relief. Dr. Cha had come highly recommended and now I know why. He is thorough and understands his patients in a short time. He gives the pros and cons of different treatments. He fitted me for an orthotic and gave me some tips to prevent further pain In reading one negative review I was shocked at her experience. I research all of my Drs before they see me. If Dr. Cha had 50 reviews, I would bet that one negative would be it.. I would also bet that person gave negative reviews elsewhere. My experience however was, his staff was friendly and courteous, He has great bedside manner and gives you tools to keep you pain free. I have plantar fasciitis. I found Dr. Cha on my insurance company website, and he is located near my home. The parking is easy. The reception area is a little dingy. Dr. Cha took an X-ray and diagnosed the problem (which I had already diagnosed myself because it's a pretty obvious one), and then he put the hard sell on me. He could not wait to sell me custom orthotics! Wow, he was super excited about it! He had the receptionist/helper running in with the supplies to make the molds before I had even agreed to it. Dr. Cha assured me that my insurance pays for it, but he was so hyped up and eager to make a sale that I just didn't trust him on this. I asked the receptionist/all-purpose helper to look into it, and after a few minutes she told me that I first have to satisfy my annual deductible. Dr. Cha was so slick, though, that he wanted to make the molds before I even figured out how much I was supposed to pay. Wow. Way to make a sale, bro! I can conclude that the profit margins are excellent on custom orthotics, and it is a business that we should all try to be in. read more

I originally had bunion surgery with another podiatrist and experienced soreness whenever I walked a year after procedure had taken place. A co-worker recommended Dr. John Cha to take a second look at my surgery. I thought I should give it a shot. Making the appointment was easy. His staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. I had a very nasty ingrown toenail caused by a toe injury, lost toenail, new nail growing in cockeyed. It was infected. Dr. Cha anesthetized the toe, removed the ingrown part, trimmed the remainder so it will grow properly, and gave me treatments for infection, and viola, everything is better. He was efficient and friendly. His office was helpful when I was late and didn't mind that I cancelled my follow-up (toe is fine now) because I am uber busy. He also gave me an opinion on my big toe arthritis. If I have further foot problems, Dr. Cha is my go-to guy. I give him a high recommendation. read more

I had a disastrous, life ruining experience with Dr. Cha when he did (what he had assured me would be simple) bunion surgery. After 6 weeks when he'd told me I'd be fine and I continued to have pain, he told me on three separate occasions, "Clinically, there's nothing wrong with you." By 8-9 wks he started blaming me saying I was, "behind the curve." Despite my pain, he just kept me in a post-operative shoe that threw me off my gait and affected my knees and neck badly. It took my knees buckling and my insistance on getting an MRI-3 MONTHS LATER!-when he finally was forced to acknowledge there was a real problem, but hestill had me undergo days of testing trying to prove he did nothing wrong in the surgery. Previously, his only response to my pain was to take yet another xray in his office - he never referred me to a pain specialist, nor a foot orthpedist. It is now three years later, and my problems from his surgery have persisted. it took me finding a real foot orthopedic surgeon 8 MONTHS after surgery to get properly diagnosed with unhealed bone fracture from the surgery, and 2 YEARS of extensive DAILY ultrasound treatments yet still I'm left with numbness, tingling and inability to wear anything but flat shoes due to pain. Additionally, I have Grade 4 menicus tears in both my knees from them buckling from long-term post-op shoe wearing and I am forced to have surgery on them these next months. I had to have neck surgery 2 years ago also resulting from how my affected gait over the course of a year pushed my neck out of alignment and caused bulging disc pain unable to be managed otherwise. Even my neck orthopedist said Dr. Cha's negligent treatment had caused me problems. All of these results could have been avoided had Dr. Cha been more concerned with me as his patient than he was in wanting to believe he had done nothing wrong in the surgery. He even got paid for physical therapy in his office that consisted of less than 3 minutes of ultrasound treatment and perhaps 5 minutes of usage of a Tens unit so when I asked several times for actual physical therapy by professionals elsewhere he denied the need for it. Bottom line - I do not believe Dr. Cha is mature or experienced enough as a surgeon to entrust him with your body and as I unfortunately found out, therefore with your life. Dr. Cha has been our family podiatrist for years, he (gently) treated my daughter and mom for ingrown toenails. I was recently diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and a heel spur and he helped me regain my mobility through orthotics, proper footwear and stretches. I had a fear that I would not be able to manage the pain but Dr. Cha worked with me to take care of that as well. Eight weeks after my diagnosis and my foot is feeling 95% better! I went to Dr. Cha via a referral from my primary physician for a bump in arch. Getting an appointment was easy and the staff was informative and friendly. I was diagnosed with a "plantar fibroma". Arch supports and topical cream did help, but I decided to have it surgically removed. I was on crutches for 2 weeks, but now I am running without any pain. I was also relieved that it was not cancerous! Dr. Cha has an excellent reputation at the surgery center that I went to, after speaking to the the anesthesiologist and nurses. This doctor came up first on yelp so I called and asked if they accepted my insurance. I stated clearly that "I am self employed and covered by a Blue Shield PPO through California Care." Receptionist stated that the doctor accepted my insurance and gave me an appointment within the hour. I drove 20 minutes to the office and began paperwork. I was walking, minding my own business, then all of a sudden, my right foot started to hurt. It felt like something needs to be cracked and it became very painful to walk on. I found Dr. Cha on Yelp and he was able to see me the same day, yay! The staff here is so friendly and helpful, they got me settled me, xray-ed, and fitted for a boot to make sure I can walk out of the office comfortably. Came to find out, I have falling arches...Dr. Cha gave me some medical tape and showed me how to tape up my arch correctly, he then showed me the type of firm shoes I should be wearing, along with strong arch support insoles. Watch out for this place and their unfair billing practices. My wife went for an orthopedic consult with Dr. John Cha. He advised her to expect that insurance would cover most of the cost, and she would only be billed about $300-$400. Our insurance (Cigna PPO) made a substantial payment for the services, and yet we still received a $750 bill. We received the bill in December, while traveling for the holidays. By the time we returned in January, we had already been sent to collections by this office - only 1 month after the date from which they mailed the original bill! When we called them to question the bill, they direct you to some outsourced billing agency that drags their feet, deflects and avoids engaging substantively - their only goal is to collect, and they have no regard for patient care or satisfaction. We were told that Dr. Cha was advised of our complaint, and declined to change the amount billed. We paid it, and moved on because life is too short, but are taking the time to write this review so that you can hopefully avoid this place at all costs. read more

Dr. Cha is amazing! I had an ingrown toenail that was causing my toe to be discolored and very painful. I was able to see Dr. Cha the same day on short notice. He sat me in the exam chair and proceeded to tell me step-by-step everything he was going to do. This was extremely comforting. After numbing my toe, he removed the ingrown toenail and the whole process was quick acompletely painless. He even gave me some additional gauze and bandages to change the dressing for the next few days. It is very rare to find a physician these days as caring and reassuring as he was. I took my daughter to see Dr. Cha because she had a fungus under her toe nail. She is diabetic and disabled but her insurance does not cover footcare, which is rediculous for a diabetic patient. Dr. Cha was very caring, thorough and because he knew we had to pay cash he helped out by giving us the medication she needed to cure the problem she was having with her foot. Me and my sister has been going to Dr Cha over a few years now for different foot procedures. I decided to visit Dr. Cha in his other office and wow! this office is way different than the one I visit him at. This office is very neat and have all the surgical shoes, boots, sandals and socks. The office looks bright inside. He took more xrays of my feet because I have a new concern. So I waited in examing room and he bought my xrays and put them up on board so I can see them. Nice. I don't have an issue with Dr. Cha himself - I think he is a good doctor from the two times I was able to see him. My issues lie with the office policies. And, I think people should know what they might encounter before they schedule an appointment. The first time I saw Dr. Cha, my appointment was scheduled for 8:30. I was there early to fill out new patient paperwork. I was not taken to the room for 45 minutes after ,my appointment time and it took another 10-15 minutes for the doctor to see me. Turns out the appointments before me were late arriving, so my appointment was pushed until they were taken care of. One patient even came in after me and explained that he was late and he was STILL seen before me. The second time, I purposefully scheduled the first available appointment at 8:15am. First warning sign were the 2 other patients also waiting in the lobby (for the first appointment of the day? Okay, so he double and triple books). After 20 minutes with no explanation, I asked the receptionist how much longer it would be. I was told that an emergency had come in before me. It was another 25 minutes before I was seen. First, I'm not a Manhattan Beach housewife - I need to get to work. I don't have all day to wait. Second, I should have been told immediately that there was an emergency so I could have the option of waiting or rescheduling. Third - there are urgent care facilities for a reason. And maybe he gave her a painkiller shot, but when that "emergency" walked out of the office, she was laughing and smiling and had no limp/bandage/dangling limbs at all. Just saying. When I scheduled my next appointment (which I have since canceled), I was told that even though it's the first available, that, if an emergency comes in, they can't guarantee I'll be seen on time. So, no, this office isn't a good match for me. read more

Dr. Cha is great. I have plantar fasciitis and need custom orthotics. My 5 year old pair were getting run down so I called him and I was able to get an appointment right away. His office is located in a nice center. I was in and out in less than 1/2 hour. The mold was super quick and the orthotics came out great. I had a bad experience with another podiatrist in the area, so it wasn't a given. He is very nice and knowledgeable and didn't seem out to be ripping me off. He even offered me additional pairs at cost since my insurance only covers one a year. I highly recommend him. read more

I had pain in my foot that had been misdiagnosed by the two previous doctors over the last two years. A friend recommended Dr. Cha and on the first visit he had diagnosed my broken seismoid correctly sent me for an MRI to confirm and a week later I had surgery to correct the problem.
