I was looking around for a beer hair stylist and thankfully I found Vera. I have naturally dark brown hair but dye it blonde so it is always a process to get it the right color. Vera is a fantastic colorist and knew exactly what Shade of blonde I was looking for with just a few words exchanged. She is friendly and personable but knows how to assess her client, as I am one who likes to read or do work during my hair appointments. The salon is clean. It was easy to get an appointment and the girls were welcoming and friendly. Thankfully, Vera is wonderful and my search for a new salon is over! read more

I moved from Chicago and don't know about NY saloon prices, I know they are a bit higher. In this visit I asked for partial highlights and apparently in hairdresser language what they did to my hair was: half head, single process, toner and I asked for a cut and paid 360$ without tip... wow What a rip off!. At least they could inform you of prices beforehand or have a price list of services, I don't like this kind of surprises. One last thing, please change the $$ in yelp for $$$$, is more accurate. read more

I was treated to some pampering today after visiting my cousin. This salon is BEYOND perfect for so many reasons: 1. The space is absolutely beautiful! Every aspect (from the wallpaper in the bathroom to the homemade cookies/coffee) were carefully thought out & executed to perfection. Every staff member I encountered was super sweet & friendly (no pretentious behavior which was a breath of fresh air at a top quality salon!) The chairs in the hair washing area are AMAZING... like if I lived in the area I would come get my hair washed as often as possible- they elevated, reclined, and pairing it with the head massage was utter bliss! Marissa blew out my hair and was super diligent, personable, and gave me a beautiful bouncy blowout! Definitely stop into this salon when you are in Rye! Highly recommend it! I went to this salon to get a bridal trial for my hair. I was told the stylist would be able to do my hair for my wedding date, we had a few emails back and forth. After she did my hair I asked the stylist to send me her contract to book with her and she told me she would email it to me. After never hearing back from her, I followed up with a text and asked her to send me her contract again. She told me she would and then Ignored me and never sent a contract for me to book with her. I had to find a new stylist and lost 150 dollars going to this salon for a hair trial and having the stylist ghost me after the fact. Would not recommend going here for any bridal services. read more

I'm new to town and decided to try this place out for a blowout a month or so back. Marissa did a decent job in hearing how I like my hair. We had good conversation and I figured this could invariably become my new salon in town. Two weeks later, I called back to book a single process color (just to cover the greys). I happen to have balayage but coloring the roots is something many hair colorists have successfully done without damaging the highlights. I go in for the treatment (they pair me with Marissa again) and she suggest I add in a toner to brighten the highlights since I'm there anyway. Mind you, I had shown her how proud I was of my non brassy highlights and was telling her about the purple shampoo i use to achieve it. I take her advice and do the toner. Long story short - I walk out of there - my dark brown natural roots are jet black and my balyage (for which I paid $350 in Manhattan) are barely visible - Marissa had asked the owner (Carlos) to make the toner bc she was tied up w/another customer. I don't know what happened after that but Marissa didn't want to blame the owner and the owner suggested Marissa should have warned me the toner can darken the highlights. They can tell I'm visibly upset and I show both photos of how it looked when I walked in. They attempt to use a clarifying shampoo on me to reverse the damage and suggest I call them back two washes later. Guess what? I called and no one calls me back. I am a professional, new to Rye giving your reasonably new business a chance (when there are many options on Purchase Street) and this is how you handle the business? Shame on you. I do not recommend this salon, Marissa, or Carlos. read more

This was the worst hair experience my daughter and I have ever had at a hair salon! We told Adriana that my daughter should still be able to pull her hair back and to angle the hair around her face. She was supposed to cut off 1-2 inches, however she cut off a heartbreaking 4 inches. I have never seen my daughter so upset. My daughter can barely pull her hair back and nothing is face framing about this cut. Don't be fooled by the pretty looks of this place. read more

Getting my haircut at John Christopher is always a pleasure. Not only do they cut my hair, but my husbands and children's as well. They are warm and friendly to my children and always give them a great cut...and a lollipop to follow! I've been to four of the stylists for myself (depending on scheduling) and have found them all to listen to what my thoughts are and give me a cut I feel great about. It is rare to find a salon that has a fancy/trendy feel, gives a great cut consistently and makes children feel as important as their adult customers. They are a gem in Rye! read more

Carlos is amazing. He has been cutting & coloring my hair for years and no one can compare. Finally he has his own salon and it's beautiful. The rye location is convenient, has plenty of parking and is trendy while remaining beautifully classic. I'm so thankful he stayed in Westchester as he could easily have opened in NYC.
