After having one of the worst experiences at a hair salon ( Richard Scott salon and day spa, mount kisco, NY), my mom and I just walked into Gjoko Salon to have color correcting done. We only expected to make appointments but we were taken right away. The entire experience from beginning to end was above and beyond. I had been a former client of this salon but recently got married and moved up to Dutchess County. Now 6 months pregnant, the last thing I needed was to look scary during this time. Mine and my mother's hair were witchy black and my mother's bangs were butchered. When we arrived at Gjoko, feeling defeated from the entire hair experience, they took us right away and what a beautiful job they did. Luz was completely understanding of what I wanted and gave me just that. We both really appreciate everything that was done for us yesterday. Used to cut my hair at the salon 5-6 years ago... decided to go back for highlights. Same people: same front girl, same stylist- so I was hoping the services would be done to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, the highlights didn't happen- probably the product they use or may be the knowledge of different hair types( although I'm regular hair brunette) . I paid and left ... my family and my friends convinced me to go back and take refund. So I went back , 3 hours later...Oh my god, the way front girl behaved and the stylist kept saying highlights are there, although they are absolutely invisible....they were so unprofessional that I had to run out of the place ... never again... read more

Gjoko ruined my beautiful thick long hair. I went in for a trim and highlights. Salon was busy and Gjoko seemed stressed. I told him I wanted more long layers to add style to my hair. He was rushing around, picked my hair up in a pony tail and cut it off, taking about 4-5 inches of hair off!!! To make matters worse he used a different cutting technique and thinned out my hair resulting in a shag above my shoulder with ends that look chopped and split. The back of my hair had stringy looking tails that did not match the rest of the haircut. I have thick, wavy hair and this cut is very difficult to style. The worst part is he never discussed this with me prior to cutting. I would have never asked for this style and I am so upset that my hair was chopped off without my permission. My hair used to be long, thick and beautiful and now it is short, thin and choppy with frizzy ends. read more

While Gjoko, the owner, is a seasoned stylist who understands the concept of customer service, I feel he has lost his edge and is overrated. No need to go to NYC for a great hair salon. I've been coming here for years, ever since I decided spending a whole day just for my hair (traveling time) was too much. I always come out looking great. Angie is my regular colorist and cutter. She is a lovely person and knows hair. Gjoko, the owner, is very talented too. The other cutters I've had and liked were Kathy and Castro. Everyone at the salon is helpful and friendly. No NYC better-than-thou attitudes. They use Schwarzkopf hair coloring, which are the best- from Germany, so they're free of unnecessary chemicals. They now offer an organic version which I will try next time. I never have to wait, which is great. On rare occasions a client messes up the time, but that is unusual. The head massage during shampoo is worth the price of admission. Upstairs is the hair salon and downstairs is a relaxing massage therapy area. I had a body massage there and it was so relaxing. The only downside is they don't accept credit cards, just checks and cash. read more

As a man who went totally grey in his early forties, I finally decided to try to look a little younger as I was in a job search and just didn't want to look older than my years. My older brother recommended Gjoko and I finally decided to give him a try. His approach to hair color for men is to start gradually then increase the color until it reaches the perfect level. For me this took three appointments spread out over 12 weeks. After each appointment my hair was slightly darker, but not in-your-face darker. I still have a lot of grey showing but just enough dark hair to take 10-15 years off my look. No one said a word about my hair other than "nice haircut", "have you lost weight?", etc. I find that I am also getting second looks and smiles from much younger women, not that I'm interested in this but, I do appreciate the positive attention. The owner was very affected by his location and disinterested in customer satisfaction. I stumbled on Gjoko salon while searching the area for a dog groomer. I walked in off the street, made an appointment and fell in love. The atmosphere, the staff and the owner Gjoko are so welcoming. They are all talented and learned from the best Gjoko himself. My color has never looked better. He has a wonderful eye and seems to intuitively know what will look best. No need to go anywhere else. Gjokos ruined my hair. They colored my hair ash and over processed my thick blond hair. I ended up spending hundreds of dollars that day to correct the mistake and it still damaged my hair. Integrity is not valued at this establishment. I went there for highlights years ago and they charged me 80 extra dollars for a small trim of the bangs. I thought I would try again this year with someone new. She ruined my long hair, damaged my roots by dying them orange and it was horrendous. They told me it would be 80 for the color. They demanded I pay them 280 dollars because of the toner they had to add to fix it and the highlights to fix it. They are a mess and the owner doesn't make any effort to check on the work of his staff. He didn't acknowledge this mistake whatsoever and just allowed this to happen. I ended up leaving with ashy greenish hair, gold roots, thin, dry hair and over 500 dollars broke because someone else had to correct this hugh error. I live in the area and I should have followed my gut because many people have told me that gjokos salon rips people off and makes them pay for their mistakes. My whole family has been charged for processes, such as conditioning, they didn't ask for. There is nothing positive to say! read more

Although I usually have good experiences, I was very disappointed in my styling today--I have a Sunday event tomorrow and the stylist gave me a lopsided cut, so I will have to go the event with my hair looking odd. Also, the cut and color was about $300, so I would have expected a lot better results for this price! In addition, I wasn't happy with the way my hair was blown dry and had to have part of it done over. I'm sure they will fix it if I go back next week,but I wanted to look my best at the event so it's annoying that the cut was screwed up. read more

I am very impressed with Gjoko's hair salon. Since I have coarse Asian hair, it is very difficult to cut. It was a SUCCESS at Gjoko's. He was very understanding and creative. I wanted a new look and he was able to cut and style it to the latest trend. He also did my highlights and color which I had so many compliments on. Even though Gjoko was very busy, he was able to fit me in without an appointment. The salon is absolutely gorgeous with a professional and friendly staff.
