I needed a headshot for work and was pressed for time. I am not photogenic and the thought of using my iPhone didn't seem like a great idea. I turned to Yelp, my request was sent to 5 photographers. Luckily, 4 photographers reached out to me in less than 3 hours. John was the only one who addressed my being pressed for time. He offered to be available when it was convenient to my schedule, provided a firm price, gave me a link to check his work, and offered me to call or email. I chose to call. To top it off he said there is no obligation and no fee if I don't like the photos. Immediately, I knew John was the one. I told him I am not photogenic, I get nervous when I am the subject of a photo, and I needed something in my hands in a few days. He was kind and encouraging that I would like my photos. We set our session for the very next day. Thankfully John had sent me a detailed email for the color of clothing I should use based on the end use of my photos. His advice was a life saver because I quickly started trying on clothes and thought I picked what would look great....no way! He saved me! I am so happy I followed his advice on colors and styles. I arrived at John's home for the photo shoot. Yes, I was nervous because I dislike pictures of myself. I never seem to have a good side. John's garage was the studio. His prices are great, and his garage has everything you need for a great shoot. Working out of his home allows him to keep his cost low. I felt totally safe. I appreciate there was an area I could do wardrobe changes. The shooting area was set up with several different colored backgrounds, a large variety of lighting, and top-notch camera equipment. He could tell I was nervous, but John is the kind of guy that makes you feel instantly at ease. He was great at coaching me how to pose. He was able to show me the photos during the shoot on his computer. I was surprised I liked so many of them. He allowed me to select the photos I wanted to consider for my headshot. He said I should have the photos in a few days. He knew I needed them quicky, but I was just thrilled we had lots of great shots and figured it was worth the wait. The very next day John told me he had edited my photos and provided a link where I could view them online. I love that John never asked for money up front to book an appointment. There would have been no charge if I wasn't happy with my photos. I could purchase one or all. There was no commitment required from me like most places. How could you not give John a try? When you are this good your work sells itself. I loved that I could download my photos from his website, pay using my credit card/paypal and have an account where I can share one or a selected amount of photos with friends and family. The entire experience was enjoyable. John is a great guy and a true professional. I received pictures that were beyond my expectations. I highly recommend John if you are looking for headshots or family portraits. There is zero risk. I am looking forward to having another session with my husband. I needed a 'press photo' for my upcoming EP release. This was all new to me, so I got to work Googlin' and Yelpin' for photographers close by. I found The Headshot Works and although it didn't have a lot of reviews, all were positive. Looking over the website, I was definitely pleased with how the example photos looked. I contacted John and set an appointment for later that same week. John is one of those people that you can't help but be completely comfortable around. He is truly an expert at his craft. The whole experience was fun and exciting. Throughout the shoot, he would ask pertinent questions, try different settings and backgrounds, and then upload the pics immediately to see the results. I never felt rushed once. There was never any attempt to upsell anything. All in all, the entire shoot took around 2 hours. If anything, I felt like I was taking up too much of his time. John contacted me a few days later with a link to the finished photos. I really couldn't have been more pleased. He even went above and beyond to retouch some extras that I (my wife) liked. The price that he quoted up front was exactly what I paid. I'm one of those that don't leave reviews often, but when you come across a business and individual that truly deserves 5 stars, it's the least I could do. John, you are awesome.
