I think this would be a perfect place to spend a special occasion...even Christmas. Unfortunately, we were there to attend a funeral in the afternoon, but our stay here soothed the soul. Pat, the owner/hostess, makes you feel comfortable from beginning to end. We stayed in the Library Room which is one of two room on the first floor. It's big, charming and has the best bed ever...I even went home and ordered a topper like we slept on. We spent the evening in the living room enjoying snacks and imbibing with another couple there for the same reason. Breakfast left no one hungry...a 5 FRESH fruit cup, scrambled locally produced eggs and sausage, and baked...yes baked...French toast. (I got the recipe and have made this heavenly dish since.) I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this unique and charming establishment. We live just around the block, so stayed here as a fun little hometown getaway. Our room decor was simple yet charming. Everything was very clean and it was obvious a lot of care went into the maintenance of this lovely historic residence. The host was attentive yet only present as much as was necessary. We have gone to some places where the host sort of tries to be a central part of your trip, and that was thankfully not the case here. Our breakfast was fantastic and I truly wish they would open their brunches and breakfasts to others wishing to come and dine. You simply can't get anything that good with such lovely service anywhere in town. read more

I stayed here for one night. It was very relaxing. The house is beautiful. Our room had its own private bath. The bed was comfortable. In the morning, breakfast was served. We had pancakes, eggs, sausage, and fruit. It was all wonderful and fresh. The house is very old and it was interesting to learn about the original owners in the 1800's. i would definitely recommend this place! read more

A reasonably priced rambling mansion built in 1872 in Monticello, the county seat of Jefferson County. The building is colorfully painted and sound but will not be mistaken for a museum. It is a place to live in and enjoy. The hostess seems to have a sixth sense as to when to talk and when to disappear and serves up a great breakfast. She's pretty gung-ho on the town, as well she should be. It's one of the nicest places that I've never heard of. read more

I'm giving this 2 whole stars because of the history. It needs updated badly. I get that the owner is trying to leave the place as it was in the day but it gets to a point where it just becomes dirty. The wine reception is very stingy, no cheese and crackers only a couple of large cheap bottles of wine and packaged crackers. The bedding and the beds are gross. The bathrooms really need a good scrubbing and new fresh towels. The whole house needs a good cleaning or at least a good dusting! For morning...Only a pot of oily pecan coffee or tea, no other options were available. For food options, The only thing that was available was overly done scrambled eggs and what tasted like day old biscuits. They were cold, heavy and crumbled when you picked it up. The jams were served in jars that haven't been wiped down or washed, maybe ever. Not a good experience for us. read more

This is a very unique BnB. Loved how Pat has renovated this historical home. The Welcome was wonderful. I stay in a ton of BnB. There are less antiques which I find refreshing. Wifi needs more power. The bed was hard. Not my fav. But that is my taste. I do not like large generic toiletries. But I carry my own so that did not matter. The breakfast was excellent. The birds were chirping and there was a fresh breeze. A great way to start my day. read more

We made a reservation on 2/8/2018 for a 3 night stay at this inn, but something came up and we had to cancel, 3 days later on 2/11/18. We had already been charged a $50 deposit. I called and spoke to Pat Inmon (Owner) and she said no problem and that she would issue a full credit but that she was unable to provide me with a confirmation number at that time. I followed up with an email just to confirm in writing and she did not respond to the email. I didn't think much of it, however 3 weeks later, I realized, we never received the refund. I called the inn, Pat answered, i identified myself and in a very friendly way, and proceeded to ask her for the status of my refund, and oh dear God, my jaw dropped, I couldn't believe the outrage and things this lady said to me, and said she was NOT going to issue a credit and hung up on me. I couldn't believe it! I then thought, maybe this lady just had a death in her family and or something horrible has happened and I called at a bad time. I waited 3 days, called back and left her a message. She called me back a couple of days later, I answered and put her on speaker in my office as i did not know what to expect. She apologized for her behavior and said she was having a very bad day that day. She then said she would issue the credit. On March 1st a $25 credit showed up on our credit card. I called Pat back, and asked her why $25 and not the $50. She said she had submitted the other $25 Credit separately and that it would take 6-7 days to show up. I said ok, no problem. Yesterday, 3/29 I checked my credit card and noticed no credit had been issued. I called her back and left 2 messages and she did not returned my calls. I then called from a different number other than my cell and she answered, once again, I said Hi Pat, just checking on the status of the $25 credit as it has not come thru. She began screaming and said she was NOT issuing the credit!! I don't know how to explain or neither do I understand what the heck this lady is doing. But I think this is what she does to avoid issuing credits, this can't be normal. I have never taken the time to write a bad review but I am having a hard time believing she has so many positive reviews, I am seriously doubting they are real. This is not my style, but she crossed the line. Good Luck to everyone, we will never ever go there! read more
