This was my personal experience;…read more Even if you have been a previous patient within Yale Medical for years but are a new patient with the Yale Orthopedic & Rehab, expect a long wait for an appointment, at least for Dr. Gibson anyway. Even as a prior patient of Doctor Gibson beyond three years of seeing him last you are considered a new patient. Do not be fooled by a non-existent waiting list either, every time I called there to ask if there's been a cancellation they added me to it, nor the false hope of calling daily for a possible cancelation opening as you will learn below. I've had knee pain now for several months and I scheduled an appointment with Doctor Gibson for March of 2023, acquired in November of 2022. I've made numerous calls to try and obtain an earlier appointment due to a cancellation, as directed by Yale staff when I called to schedule my original appointment. I was advised to call daily by several people that schedule appointments. On December 19, 2022, I was told there was a cancellation in January of 2023. When the receptionist learned I was a new patient, I was told "Oh sorry, you're not eligible for this appointment as a new patient." A complete contradiction to what I was advised back in November and most every time I called. How can an open appointment not be available to a patient, whether that patient is new or existing!? As a result of a job that required a ridiculous amount of pushing furniture, carrying my office with me everywhere and not having a desk caused more damage than necessary. When a second shot of cortisone didn't work, Dr. Halim suggested I wear a brace to protect my wrist. In 2017 I found that surgery was the next step. I am no stranger to going under so I was fine with that. An MRI revealed arthritis as well so I was glad to be rid of it. After surgery I was in a cast followed by therapy. All one place, the doctors and nurses are professional and do their best to get you in and out quickly. Dr. Halim also has another office where appointments may be easier. She is kind and I am pain free.

I knew that there was something special -- about his surgical prowess that most guys don't have. After reviewing my M.R.I., he made it perfectly clear that ANY serious improvement was a long-shot. It's been almost seven weeks since my surgery, and, I DO see positive results. My right leg HAS gotten better {lower leg} and I FEEL that a miracle {"Dr. Dave's words} could happen. He assured me after my surgery {at Danbury hospital} that NONE of my discs were pressed against my nerves. I believe that 2 or 3 discs were fused as well. I am no longer experiencing ANY drop-foot {right leg} when I walk. I hope that my next check-up reveals more improvement. Every day, my right foot wiggles a bit more, as do my toes. Dr Mike will do thorough evaluation and treatment plan with modalities specifically for you. If needed, he will refer you back to orthopedic if there are underlying issues that need to be addressed. He and his staff have always been very responsive and understanding with terrific "Bedside Manner". I took advantage of and enrolled in a Concierge Physicians program to which he belongs. The service offers several benefits. One of the most important benefits for me is virtually instant accessibility to him and/or his staff 24/7. I would recommend Dr. Saunders as a very competent practitioner of Internal Medicine as well as a down to earth General Practitioner or Primary Care Physician.

However I called back and they said that they were going to call a mediation to my pharmacy. I go the pharmacy and nothing was called so naturally I called them back. Some rude assistant picked up trying to rush me off the phone and she said they never called the prescription because the dr wanted to talk to me. I said I wished you called to let me know. She got so rude on the phone and saying she doesn't have time for that and that they are short staffed. I said please do be snippy with me, and as I was speaking to make an appointment she hung up. So I called back, I don't know who picked up (most likely the same person) I said why did I get hang up on, and she hung up again for the third time. Someone called me from the office and without asking me what happened stating that I am being rude to the staff. I laughed because at this point it was funny. I explained myself again, and made an appointment that I cancelled right away .this was just for a physical appointment , what if I was sick and they act like that again and again ....I was going to ask to be a concierge patient, but they don't need my money I guess. Was told for diagnosis, to schedule appointment with regular doctor, which I did, but was booked with a PA, not doctor. 45 minutes past my appointment time to see a PA for 5 minutes who did nothing- no new tests, still no diagnosis. Someone suggested a surgeon there. Again almost 45 minutes late past my appointment time to see an older very grumpy surgeon who acted completely annoyed to answer questions . Not a professional environment in my experiences. There are several admin people when you first walk in, most not doing anything but would not check me in - said you have to do it yourself at a touch screen kiosk that no one was sanitizing after multiple people touching it. They were fast to ask for my credit card to get a copay once I checked myself in.

Both times I have been here I have been treated very professionally. The check in process is quick and efficient. The physical therapist who has been assigned to me is excellent. Matt take the time to listen and explain what is going on. My shoulder has improved since I have been taking therapy. He has stretched and massaged my shoulder and it feels better. In addition he has shown me a series of exercises and stretches which work my shoulder at different angles. I look forward to my next appointment.
