The rubberized ground covering is such a bonus for safety too soft, clean, and comfortable for little ones learning to navigate the world. There's also a splash pad right next door, which is an absolute magnet on hot Texas afternoons. Shaded picnic tables and benches are scattered throughout the park, making it easy for parents and caregivers to relax without feeling like you have to hover the entire time. The one negative aspect of the playground is that the slides are always too hot during the dog days of summer, so make sure the kids don't burn their legs! The whole thing is fenced except the entrance but that's where most parents sat while their kids played. The bathrooms are large and clean. There's two restrooms both are family bathrooms. The only downside of the park is that the slides are fast and tossed my 22 month old around and the ropes on the netting is spaced fairly wide so his little feet slipped through but there is an additional net outside the so things can't fall through and those helped him get along. We will come back for sure!

In case you're wondering about which way to go on the trail, because it goes both north and south from the park, please please go north. We didn't know any better and decided to go south, figuring we'd go around a half mile, get to the end, turnaround, and hit the rest. Well, the trail now connects to another trail on the south side of 121. If you're planning to walk to the south end and turn around, you've got a long way to go. After a mile going south, we turned around. The south stretch (most of which isn't actually Taychas) isn't shady and honestly isn't that great. However, the north stretch of Taychas trail from the park was very nice. Much more shade and available trash cans (for throwing away dog poop bags you carried along your southern journey). Unfortunately, we ran out of time and didn't get to see the northern end, but we will...next time when we decide to go north instead of south!
