Wow!!! What a stunning park. I don't have small kiddos, I'm an empty nester of a 24 year old so my views on parks will never have a thing to do with splash pads, water features (unless I'm running through them on my jogs) or playgrounds because that stage of my life is long done with. I discovered this park after joining Plano Pacers last night and seeing that this is our monthly location for 5k races. I walked over to check out the course prior to Saturdays race. I loved everything about it! It's truly beautiful in every sense of the word. What I can say, is on a very hot TX day the park itself (not Legacy trail) didn't seem to have a ton of tree coverage. You'll definitely want a wide brim hat and some sunscreen. The paths, wild flowers, lake, creek, trees, birds, bunnies and so on were all very lovely. I've been running a ton of routes since relocating to the neighborhood and I'm always thankful to find new paths to incorporate in, seeing as though I'm a distance runner and have been trying to put together some ideas for various different mileage options from my doorstep. I was very accustomed to an out and back in my previous city that I could easily get over 20 miles on and have been looking to somehow recreate a similar very straight forward route like that. I will most definitely be looping Windhaven Meadows Park and Legacy Trail into my runs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous peaceful place to walk and relax. This park is BEAUTIFUL! I came here because of the dog park. They have a small and big dog park which are very clean and large enough for many dogs to run around and have fun. I have a very active pup and I was able to have him run around and have fun. They do have set hours where they close down. This is a wonderful trail & park located in the heart of west Plano! Bask in a suburban oasis and enjoy the sunrise and the scenery. They have clean bathrooms as well as water fountains and a park/splash pad for the kiddos. Bring your pups here, bike, running shoes and even the fam. You can relax at the pavilion under the shade or come here for a great workout. The area spans for miles so you may get some good mileage in if you are training for something. If you are a sunrise gal like me you will love the running views. The parking lot is huge and there seems to always be folks out here so I always feel safe. It also seems to be lit up if you run or bike in the evenings. This area needed another great nature park so I'm glad that the city of Plano took the time to make it happen. read more

Now this playground is awesome. First of all it's huge, a lot of covered/ shaded equipment and the entire play area is below the surrounding benches. So parents are kinda on a higher ground looking over the entire area. Behind the playground is a big flatland grassy field outlines with a bike path dug into the surrounding woodland. There also seems to big restroom area/ facility, big parking lot with pick-up, drop-off and Ice-cream Truck space. Also, It's pretty much around the corner from an even bigger H-E-B grocery store. read more

Not nearly enough cool benches on a hot Texas summer day. Too many kids unsupervised that just get in the way of proper play. Aside from that though, the playground is wonderful given there's no crowded brats or useless parents there. There are restrooms there too but of course it's dirty and toilet paper exposed. One wonders how many times it's fallen onto floor of urine and just put back in like that. read more

Dog park is disgusting. Considering it has wide paths, pretty layout with rocks and trees, has some elevation changes, small ones around the park, and with covered picnic tables for seating. This had the potential to be a flagship dog park. Unfortunately: Owners don't pick up after their dogs. Walking around oblivious to their pets' actions on the cell phone or being attentive to the social cues of their animals around, potentially, strange dogs. Seen some fights between dogs. As a caution: don't step in the grass in flip flops or sandals as there are mountains big and small, of unclaimed rewards. Garbage bag stations are spaced all over the park, but don't know if it's laziness or purely an attitude of "not my problem," which comes with public spaces. read more

Came to the dog park here for the first time. It's large with wide open spaces. The paved area around the perimeter is nice for walking. There are some trees on one side, but it's mostly open. The water fountains are nice as there are both bowls and traditional fountains from which dogs can drink. Most people seemed to be walking with their dogs, but there were also some poop piles that made it clear not everyone was picking up after their dog. read more

This park is giving the other dog parks in Plano a run for their money! It is nice and my pup loves it too! We primarily visit the small dog area and I love the walking trail within it so I can get my cardio while my pup gets his! People have been pretty good about social distancing in the time of COVID and most have worn masks, hooray! Everyone is great about being accountability for their dog and never had an issue here. It's also great to walk around on the trails as well and they have a nice pavilion if you want to et some coverage and have a picnic. read more

I have lived in a dozen states and have been to over 100 dog parks. This one is by far the best of them all. Two areas, small and big, a nice walking path, with garbage cans and water devices. Two shaded areas for people to hang out. Beautifully maintained. They close after a storm do the grass doesn't get messed up. They patch areas where the grass is missing. People clean ip after their dog, though you can't blame anyone id they didn't notice their dog left #2. Someone eventually cleans it up. Great for getting your walking walk, and for your dog to get its exercise. Excellent parking. Highly recommended!!! read more

I come here to bring my dog. It was the first park I've taken her to & we both loved it! It's so clean, people are so kind & they have much more for kids & families. Great trails to walk around. They have it sectioned off for small & big dogs. What I love is that it is all grass & inside each part, they have a sidewalk trail to walk around. No trees or dirt. So don't have to worry about some things that your dog may catch or falling on you from the trees. People are so nice & welcoming as well. For sure me & my pups favorite dog park. First time coming here for the dog park and it was fantastic! The area was so clean and very well kept. Our dog loved all the space and openess to run! There are water fountains for the dogs to get water along with trash cans for the poop. There was a small dog and big dog side. There was also a huge playground for kids and walking trails. Best park in Plano!! Restrooms are clean which is a must with a potty training toddler. Splash pad is small but fun! My daughter loves the water table. There is stuff for little ones who have just started walking all the way through older kids who like to climb. I have seen tons of birthday parties being celebrated at the gazebo. Wonderful park with a lovely walking trail that extends for miles and miles. Do be cautious as there are wild animals since we have impeded upon their territory. We heard a pack of coyotes howling and even saw one as we were headed home. Other than that, it is a beautiful spot for a picnic, taking the kids to the playground once it is safe again, visiting the dog park, or just relaxing under the pavilion. The playground is so awesome! It's huge and it has two areas. Both areas are filled with slides, swings and things for all kids to climb, jump and play. I like the colors of the playground and soft surface. There's a water area for kids but it's out of service during winter. There's also dog play areas and a paved trail. Awesome park! A variety of play structures, huge areas (and most of ground are that soft rubber type), ample parking, good restroom area, a pavilion nearby for shades. Our kids particularly like the little hill around the play area (as it is like a basin so kids can run up and down the little hill freely with some easy rock climbing foot hold). Definitely one of the best park around the town and will come back whenever kids need to run off their energies! read more

This review is for the dog park. We loved this dog park. Not only is the area spacious, but it is beautiful with a large grass area and beautiful walkways for both humans and pups. Out of the three (Windhaven, Carter, Woodruff), this is our favorite dog park in Plano. If only we lived closer, we would go here more often. Being a new park, the amenities are new and clean. On Saturdays mornings, it tends to get busy as there is a running club that does their Saturday morning runs in the park. With that parking can be a bit limited but people come in and out constantly. read more

I like this park it's visually appealing and something different than the usual play ground. There is a trail near by and also a splash pad. I went here looking for something different from the norm during the dog days of summer and this park didn't fail to disappoint. It was a lot of people there but being that this park is so pretty spread out you really couldn't tell in the playground. It was a hot day so the splash pad unfortunately was packed. But there is a side for small kids and and side for larger children so you have to worry about your toddlers getting knocked down buy others. It's also a pretty large pavilion and some open green space for the kiddos to just run or you can have a little picnic as I observed another family doing. read more

Went to this park by great Yelp reviews and it is truly wonderful! Two lots for toddlers and bigger kids with slide connecting. So many different items especially the Musical ones are very unique. During pandemic season it is easier to keep social distance with others. They have pavilion in case it rains. And hiking trails if you like walking a bit. Great park, I walk here during the whole pandemic situation and there isn't too many other people. I see a few other walkers and people with dogs. There is a great dog park too, completely fenced off and huge, with a water faucet and bowl for the dogs which is awesome. Restrooms are nice and always been clean when I've used them. There is also two huge play parks for kids with slides and swings. Huge covered pavilion with grills and plenty of seating. This park is definitely worth checking out. read more
