John Maxx Dougall. Visited 5/6/2024. Wife had Chicken Quesadilla's $16.49 I had Buffalo Chicken Wrap $15.99. Both very good. Wrap came with fries. The Tequila Mustard was a wonder surprise. She ordered a Margarita which I found very Tart and good. She thought too tart and requested a Rum & Coke. No charge or hassle about sending the Margarita back. Wonderful. The server was more than excellent if that is possible. Her name is Mackenzie. First class attitude and service. This will make us go back for sure. There was another table close by and they stated that "we are old" and were not comfortable with the IPad menu. Mackenzie was so nice and helped them and they were so appreciative. We took note of that. TL;DR We were thinking of going to Jose's or Gilligan's Or Cramdon's but she wanted to go to John Maxx for a change and that turned out to be an excellent decision. A great neighbourhood spot for drinks. You don't find many patios in this area of town, so it's nice to come here on a nice day and have some drinks outside. I've never had the food, but the drinks are flowing and the staff is friendly and attentive. read more

Hello Canada! It was an overnight trip, to Canada, after the end of our family reunion. I must say Canada does not look any different than your average city in the United States. We were expecting the streets, buildings, people, and food to be different but to our surprise you would have thought you were in your local city. I must say the people seem to be much more friendlier than others in the United States. I ordered nachos and the family ordered wings. Their wings come in many flavors and rubs. The best wings I've ever had. I visit this place every time I'm in Windsor. The chicken wings are saucy and as soon as you bite into it, you taste the crunch from the breading and then the juicy, soft chicken in the center. The sauces are also amazing. I like their honey garlic, Nashville hot, and Baton Rouge. The ranch is very good too and the waffle fries are CRISPY. Service has always been good and helpful. And the restaurant is pretty clean. First time at this place - visited the Dougall location. Looks not so big from the outside, but quite spacious inside with lots of TV - staff were quite efficient, friendly, courteous. Went with few of my colleagues and we had a wrap and couple of Megatron burgers and fried pickles. Service was prompt & Food was delicious. Towards the very end, it got way too loud at a table close by with a bunch of guys enjoying their evening way too much and not being mindful of other customers. The atmosphere is great for groups. They have plenty of TVs so it's a great place to catch any game with a group of friends. The appetizers are really good. I tried the quesadilla and spinach and artichoke dip. For my main dish I ordered medium ceasar parmesan wings with a side of hot sauce for added spice. I don't recommend anyone get this because it wasn't very good. The parmesan was just shredded on top of the ceasar dipped wings, which is odd. Ideally I would rate this restaurant 3.5/5 but since I can't do that on here I'm going with 4 because of the atmosphere and delish apps. I have visited this place twice around 4pm on a weekday and the first time I had impeccable service and the second time I had to search for my waiter. I absolutely love the kronenbourg blanc on tap at $7.50 a pint, I feel it's a bit expensive for a windsor on dougal that has a patio that overlooks a parking lot. Wings: Thursday are 2 for 1 traditional wings. A small size has about 7 wings, so you can get 14 wings for the price of one small! It comes with carrots and a dipping sauce. Both ranch and blue cheese are excellent sauces. I would love it bottled up for home :) I rexommend trying tequila lime and casear parmesan. The atmosphere is a typical sports bar with lots of tvs and music. It is clean and seems renovated. read more

I swear these restaurants which of them so huge favor if they started taking beautiful photographs of their food to post when out-of-towners like myself and my husband and our 10 other friends that came with us are looking for good food spots in a new city, but on to my review. We ordered the Mediterranean chicken salad which by presentation was beautiful. The chicken was really delicious but the rest of the salad tasted stale/old from the frozen tomatoes to the canned Kalamata olives, even the feta cheese tasted super processed. I suppose it's more difficult when it's a chain restaurant to insure that quality standards are where they're supposed to be but being the first time it wasn't the best impression. But what was really tasty was the pulled pork sandwich! Again we were worried over how bad the reviews were for this place and really just came in to watch the champions league final (soccer) that they had on TV but still needed to get food. This place is known for it's large, tasty chicken wings. Because I'm a cheapskate, I go on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the "2 for 1 Wings", my friends and I split a $9.95 pitcher of Pabst (because it's cheap). Unlike a few other places I've been to, the chicken wings are consistently large, tasty and have good dry rubs. I usually don't get sauces, so I can't comment on them. This place does good business and sometimes you have to wait a little bit for the server... if they have 10 tables each you just have to wait. Go on a Tuesday at 10pm and service will be much faster. Came on a Tuesday for the 2 for 1 Wings. We waited a bit for the table to be cleared before being seated. It was around 8 PM when we got there. We were seated at the dining area which was about 80% full. The menus are already on the table standing on the sides. One of the menus was wet (dripping water as you take it out), which wasn't a very nice start. It also took a while for the waitress to ask us for water. We ordered two orders of the 2 lb wings, one in honey garlic, and the other in applewood smoke and Canadian maple. The food came in about 15 minutes. The Applewood smoke tastes like eating Lay's bbq chips which is nice if you're a fan of that flavour. The Canadian maple was a bit sour, which was unexpected since the name says maple so you'd expect something on the sweeter side. The honey garlic was good, the perfect sweetness and flavour. The wings only came with a side of carrots and a ranch sauce. It would be better if it also came with celery sticks (that's just me). There are definitely some good looking drink and burger options that I saw during my visit that I will try next time. This review refers to the Lauzon location. I play volleyball there on Wednesday nights. The league is reasonably well-organized, the servers do a very good job, the food is quite good, and -- most importantly -- the beer selection goes beyond Labatt/Molson swill to include a wide variety of local/Ontario craft brews. A big "bravo" for that. The place is also very nicely built; the care taken is obvious. I'd be inclined to give 5 stars, but... Unfortunately, the above strong points that make the joint feel so "with it" are marred slightly by the music that plays during volleyball... good Lord, it's deplorable. A bunch of lowest-common-denominator hip hop garbage, songs that actually use the word "booty" without irony, etc. You'd think the DJ was 16 years old trying to annoy his/her parents. I understand that musical tastes vary, so I can take a little bit of this stuff, but for crying out loud, mix it up. When stuff like this is played for 3-4 hours straight -- without interruption -- it's so dreadful that I sometimes feel as though it is meant to ring in the end of humankind. read more
