I found him through Yelp and Facebook. The reviews don't lie. Scheduling was simple and he was even able to accommodate me by getting into a earlier date and time. 45 min drive was def worth it to see John. Really nice guy, but ....He is bad a$$ when it comes to hair and I'm pretty picky. He washes your hair and massages your scalp. But really massages it not half asses it like other salons. He teaches you how to wash your hair properly, what products to use, when and where to condition it with the Moroccan oil hair line. John is an awesome hair stylist, the best I've been to. He actually listened to what I wanted and consulted with me on what I wanted. Was very friendly and explained each step he performed, from washing, to cut, styling, and hair care as this was my first time. He even curled/styled my hair free of charge! The hair wash was super relaxing and felt awesome with the massage. Initially I just wanted a trim, but when I got into the chair I was really bored with the how long it was so we cut off 3-4 inches! The blow dry made my hair super shiny and soft. He was able to fit me in last minute the next day; great customer service. He recommended products that he used during the session. John was really knowledgable about what he was doing so I wasn't afraid he was going to screw up my hair. The way he talks is super calm and soothing so the session was chill. Really affordable, for wash, cut, and style it was ~$45. Its my 2nd time coming in and having John do my hair and it coming out so fabulously! I had a late night John after setting my appointment up on schedulicity.com (which is btw super easy to sign up and get an appointment done). I came 5 minutes before my appointment as he is with another client. John was running a bit late but still took care of me. I was the last client he saw for the day. During my reglaze the shop closed! However he continued to work on my hair and took the time to explain everything regarding coloring, hairstyling, to even the products being put in my hair. I learn so much each visit. I could've been the last client for him to try and work through so that he can end his night early. Nope, not a chance! John was very thorough from everything he did, even my hair cut. I made sure to tell him that I wanted my bangs cut a bit short and he did it (not without making sure that I understood I had to maintain it well). He shaped my hair again since I had a bad cut from a previous hairdresser. I enjoyed my time with him and by the end of the night my red/violet ombre was refreshed and I was sporting my bangs and fab hair! He's literally my one and only stylist. John has been cutting my hair for a couple of years now, and I don't want anyone else cutting my hair! He does his best to keep up with the recent trends, and makes sure you are comfortable with your choices. He always double checks with you and holds a conversation with you the entire time. For instance, I wanted to chop quite a bit of my hair off, but I wasn't sure where it would lie on my back. He showed exactly how short it would be before he cut. What can I say? John is simply a master at his craft. I am a 49 year old granny who is trying to let my natural gray grow out for the first time ever and getting that dark color out is a maddening process. Do you bleach it out and re-color lighter or what? After talking with John, I decided to get it cut super short with regular trims. I've had long, thick, coarse hair my entire adult life and had another hairstylist start this graying process with a moderately short cut which didn't take the texture of my hair into account. John, however, cut my hair with the thickness and coarseness is mind so that it doesn't look like I've been either electrocuted or badly frightened. :) My cut looks fantastic and the dark areas blend well enough with the gray/white that I can totally deal with it until the color is completely cut away. The first few times with John have been amazing. I don't regret going to him at all - his amazing sense of style and choice of product convinced me to buy and use his recommended body wash and clay, and my hair has never looked better before this. After multiple failed attempts at finding someone here in Texas who was competent and technically skilled enough at cutting a long bob, I decided to grow my hair out and swore off allowing anyone else to try the bob again for fear of another disaster. Then I met John. He's honestly one of the most skilled stylists I've ever met. He listens to you and pays close attention to what you want and doesn't rush the process. And please don't waste your time reading all the comments, let me make it easier for you. John is a real Perfectionist!!! YES!! All these reviews are 100% true. I am super sensitive about my hair and usually don't trust anyone for them. After spending a good 2 months of search time, I was finally able to find John but even though the reviews were perfect I was still a bit skeptical and took a leap of faith. PRAISE THE LORD I WAS LUCKYYY. I swear I won't let anyone touch my hair ever again except John. I was really confused between the hairstyles that I wanted so I discussed it with him. He asked for my current hairstyle photo and the hairstyle that I wanted. Gave a detailed counselling on what needs to be done, how and why. I was so satisfied that he actually gave a good chunk of time to just explain how I'm gonna actually look after the cut.
