She brought up sensitive personal information on the screen (which was good sized), asked me to verify the information. I wasn't expecting this so of course, could not find my reading glasses to review this on line document. I just said it was fine so I could get out of the queue. I miss seeing the check in staff that is so friendly and personally greats me and makes me feel welcomed. This experience was impersonal and I felt that my personal information was at risk for being compromised. If this is the new "normal" for HFDC I may consider changing to a PPO dental plan so I can choose to go where I am welcomed by a real person.

Communication around costs is unclear and can be misleading. On top of that, the office manager is extremely rude, and the staff is not welcoming or friendly, which makes the overall experience even more frustrating. Save yourself the stress and consider going elsewhere. When I arrived for a scheduled cleaning, I was told the appointment had been canceled because of their scheduling issue. I had received no call, no voicemail, and no cancellation notice -- only text reminders to confirm the appointment and reminder that it's time to make a new appointment. Instead of offering a sincere apology or acknowledging the inconvenience, the receptionist (Robin) repeatedly insisted they had called me several times ( no history of a single phone call from them on my phone) and simply asked if I wanted to reschedule. It's a shame, because the doctors and hygienists are excellent, but the lack of professionalism and training at the front desk makes the overall experience much less positive than it should be. COST: With my dental insurance for EVERYTHING was about ~$2200-2400 (forgot the exact amount) for doctor kitamura's portion (extraction and screw implant) , and another $1500-$2000 for my regular dentist (the crown) portion. too lazy to look back at my statements Disclaimer: This is only MY OWN experience and situation. Everyone's case will probably be different. CONSULT WITH UR surgeon/DENTIST!! HISTORY: My gum was frequently getting painful, red, swollen. Finally went to dentist, got an X-ray where they said my tooth was cracked at the root, causing infection literally almost to the point of periodontal disease. Hoping I could save my tooth I went to a root canal specialist where they told me I had no other choice but to extract whole tooth and get implant. Started googling the process and ofc getting mixed experience, some in particular saying they had to get general anesthesia cause they can't handle pain so they recommend getting put to sleep. EXTRACTION/PARKING: Free public parking for his pearl ridge & windward location! Absolutely no issues. Met with Dr. Kitamura. My main concern was pain. Told him I have a very low pain threshold. Dr kindly reassured me that patients generally feel little to no pain, just mostly pressure. Answered all my questions and literally my whole process was pain free (just pressure like he said) and I only did local anesthesia cause general would be more costly. I only took 500mg Tylenol once after the procedure cause I was worried, but literally had NO PAIN. Side note: I do recommend bringing a list of questions and WRITE THEM DOWN, because doctors will sometimes ask "do you have any questions?" And u won't have them at the moment but they come to you as soon as u get home. A week later went for my check up, then another check up for my final assessment. Thankfully my implant was good but just not fun living with a gap in my mouth for months. Overall I would most definitely recommend oral surgery with doctor kitamura! Office staff was nice as well! It was DEFINITELY a very costly procedure for me but I learned now how important oral health is and prayyyyyyy I will never have to go through this again.

If you are doing an apt for a patient, please log it into your system while you are doing it. I don't see you in the system on the day of the apt is not acceptable. Incompetent staff. They wanted a referral so I sent it to the email address they gave me. First time "Oahu" was misspelled. Second time "surgery" was missing a "y". They called the referring doctor without asking me to verify the email address they gave me to send. I just resent the email the third time and it went through. The staff can't spell and can't do their jobs properly. Sigh. I hope the oral surgeon is not like the staff I dealt with. Overall, I am not impressed with this office at all. I am so glad I went through this before the actual oral surgery for my son. I firmly believe that things happen for a reason. The doctor asked me to delete the review bc it will deteimentally affect the business. If I were the business owner, I would be grateful to get good and bad feedback and improve accordingly based on the feedback.
